Wirbelwind is german spaa that is known for any pilot who plays ground forces. It's four cannons has very good rate of fire an sufficient damage, while the tank itself is well protected - unlike what you would expect from anti air vehicles. It's one of the best vehicles to fight planes at medium tiers in War Thunder.

I rate them like: 0= *no influence* in battle (cant kill , too slow, etc) 10= *carrys the match* ( caps all points alone and one shots everyone while being unkillable) in ground battles ability to destroy tanks to be able to cap point is more important that's why for example "shilka" that with the help of radar destroys planes super fast and easily is rated less than wirv... wirberb... wirwir... you got the point.

The Wirbel should not even have APCR belts. They were ether not used at all or used in such limited numbers that it would not be worth adding into war thunder. The wirbelwind should be driving around with the 36mm maximum pen AP ammo belts. It would be more realistic and more balanced.

The only tank where nerf actually buffed it (changing of full APCR to 50/50 with AP made it able to engage at much bigger ranges (less penetration loss over distance)) Also, about the T-34's: you can easly penetrate the hull MG port frontally.

I always have both in my lineups: Wirbelwind and Ostwind, but tbh Ostwind and its 0 reloading time in combination with the 37mm cannon feels more powerful. I might have to give another try to the Wirbel tho and unlock the Ostwind II, it might be even better :)

I don't have any SPAA in my 6.3 german line-up and haven't had any for quite some time now (since probably around 4.3). I just get too annoyed when I am forced to spawn in one (cause how cheap they are) and there are no planes for me to shoot and I can't do anything against T-44s and IS tanks.

@@Haren94 usually what I'd do is blind them by spamming tracer rounds in their face as it becomes harder for them to pick up targets, if you're lucky you can run away with a cheap kill assist for doing that too

In slightly higher tier Ostwind II is also a good SPAA. Mostly because there is no reload and you can shoot continuously for a very long time. Hope to see a video about this.

The Wirbelwind is the most brutal tank I've ever used. I once got 2 jumbos, 1 hellcat, and a 76mm Sherman in one match with his outrageous machine. *My own research of the "Wind" Family*

I must say with the Ostwind it was when it started for me to be very fun. The Wirbelwind has a reload time, the Ostwind can shoot crazy until the muzzle starts to melt. The 3,7cm shells kill instantly.

It has a much more manageable post battle upkeep than ostwind as well. You just have to be more careful managing your ammunition. I mostly use my wibblywind to help salvage matches that go very badly. Like when my team disintegrates and the reds all start pulling planes and I have a lot of air targets to swat at. Which is every match. T3T

I don't know if you'll read this, but actually yes, Wirbelwind can destroy Kv's. I did it some days ago. Wirbel can penetrate it at 2 uniques places : The zones between the tracks (Well to do this, you'll have to be right next to him (10 meters away maximum) AND to shot at an angle of 90° (perpendicular). In fact you 'll have to be fast, shoot at the tracks, when broken , shoot at this place (between the tracks), aiming for the motor and the fuel tanks. It's pretty tricky to do, but if you can use the horrible depression of kv's to make them unable to shot you, you can destroy a Kv ^^

Had killed one T34 that thought he had me after hitting my gunner, he did the most imbecile thing, rammed me, my gunner went up with 80 fresh shells, and his pitiful mantlet of 45-53mm couldn't stop point blank HVAP.... I just laughed at how much he had me IF he didn't went point blank (i had 3 crew, he had 2)

Only in a game. Highly doubt, the Germans would have equip-et 4x 20mm with tungsten rounds. They are also shot it with only 2 barrels at the same time, all 4 guns only in a emergency situation, like being attacked straight by a plane.

The Wirbelwind has a panzer IV or III chassis which makes it very tough. The turret isn’t that tough however.

it wasn't until I got the kugelbitz that I actually decided to replace my wirbelwind. And that when I had built a solid 7.7 tank lineup. Though when I had gotten in a few 8.7 games for shits and giggles with a friend, with my top tier tank being the Ru 251, I actually performed better with the wirbelwind and often got top place

i love the so-ki honestly, i think its a decent spaa, it kills planes alright and can pen a lot of tanks from the side too if needed. i only use the ap belt because its seems more effective than the air one. In comparison to the wirbelwind its worse in every aspect but thats because the wirbelwind is just the best spaa by a long shot, i believe the worst spaa are the russian ones. Also the m42 duster is 6.0. Cheers

A little tip if you encounter wirbelwind never shoot their turret, everytime i go against it and head to the turret they get away easily but if you shoot at the hull that shid is fkd up (if you got big guns) if you dont have big guns their ammo gonna go kaboom anyway

KV1s have ONE spot besides turret ring (the hardest tank to achieve such with a Whirbelwind), the area between transmission, radiator and engine, at the rear.... There's ONE plate at the radiator level that's merely 40-45mm thick, with enough hits of HVAP, one may damage engine and cause a fire....

"heavy tank" its a Panzer IV hull lol, chill, 80mm isnt much at 3.7 and above and the Whirbewind gets easilty punched through the front when uptiered. I dont find it survivable at all and its easy to ammo rack. Ive bounced shells when angled however, but the turret can be pierced by anything.
