Jay, this is incredible.. So appreciate having been introduced to you. You're making my setup an incredible experience! I'm pre-learning prior to my setup and you have made it a lot less intimidating!

I learned basic Sketchup watching your videos in the past and really enjoy your style of teaching. The information is presented well and the footage to go along with it is excellent making it easy to follow along. Keep up the great work!

Great job! I’m right now thinking in buying a CNC and been watching/reading reviews, but definitely your CNC video series is one of the best out there! I was just wondering, are you still going to upload a 5th video of the series? Thanks Jay, and keep making these great videos! 👍

Nope. Sold it due to a house move and no storage space. Getting a larger avid when I get setup

Getting every inch out of your larger CNC is a great idea. I was able to get about 124.2" on my 60120. If you want to keep those sensors intact in a crash though, consider mounting them vertically instead, with bolts or angle iron coming off the legs beneath as sense triggers.

To all new Avid CNC owners. The company seems to be bit behind the curve in education. They are massively busy during these trying times. Most of the vids they have out are still about Mach3 and Sami is still learning how to impart her knowledge. In just the very first part of this video Jay give us Mach4 knowledge that is impossible to find. Hats off to him.

Cheers Jay. I got the Xbox controller running easy with that AntiMicro. I mapped the triggers to shift and ctrl. Pretty much instantly intuitive. It's cool how you can set the position on the trigger movement to where it switches on/off. I've got the shift trigger set way in to help prevent accidental rapid. Hopfully no accidental button pushes. Thanks - Ken.

At first I couldn't figure out why you were so worried about a vertical place holder. I thought it was just holding stuff on there for easy access. Then when you explained it, it all made so much sense. Well done, well produced, and I loved the look on your face (@23:03) when you were showing off the dove tail joints. Like a proud daddy! :)

Nice! I've been trying to work with plug-ins for Mach 4 to control the cnc with the game controller, but could not do it. Thanks for the tip on AntiMicro! The rest of the video is great too. I've subscribed.

Great video Jay! I use the same controller with UCCNC but using the software plug in to configure it. I added Start button as a Home All movement, and the Select button to run the Tool Length sensor macro to calibrate Z axis. Looking forward to build a vertical table like yours! Keep on with this cnc tutorials! Max from Argentina

Awesome and timely as I'm setting up a cnc router right now. Just curious, had you previously tried a PS3 controller before settling on the Xbox? Only ask because I have one sitting in a drawer from an old PS3. Thanks!

Jay, thank you for your videos. For someone that started in a small garage, bought a CNC and now branched out to the new space I was hoping you could answer a few questions about starting a shop. I'm eye balling an AVID CNC machine to be the center piece for remodeling my kitchen by making new cabinets and eventually grow a shop. What other tools do I need where the CNC can't be used to start with? My dad had his own shop when I was growing up so I know usually you had to have a table, band and radial arm saw, I have a good drill press still in the box from a five year long divorce. He also had a lathe, planer, jointer and other various sanders and hand tools that I used to work with. Before I pull the trigger on a purchase I wanted to find out what can't I do with the AVID CNC when building cabinets and making cabinet doors so I know what other purchases I need to plan for. From what I can see a CNC can do most of the work. My plan is the renovate the house I recently purchased so that when I sell it and move to Texas it will increase the value and pay for a home in the future.

Hello, Jay. Great video, lots of very interesting ideas especially end vertical fence/table for cutting joinery. Wanted to ask. I am considering buying Axiom 6 or Avid CNC in comparable size. Now you have this new CNC machine for some time, how you would compare it to Axiom machine you had before? Thing like, precision, repeatability, rigidness/stiffness, cutting and movement speeds and general feel? Thanks.

I wonder if it would be beneficial to mount a USB port on the front right of the CNC mill, then make a pocket to mount on the front bar to hold the controller so that the controller has a specific place to go when not in use and the cable isn't stretched from the PC and possibly getting in the way if you're walking back and forth on the right side of the machine.

How did you change your rapid feed rate to 1000 IPM? I can't find the settings in Mach 4 to change those numbers.

I would suggest a cheap pulse generating handwheel. Mine is called xhc and cost £50 on ebay. It is very much better than the xbox controller. Worth every penny.

I see how you like the Xbox controller you have (I got one of those for my small grizzy but never used it...you would set the keys for it in Mach3 ..if I remember correctly) but I have wireless controllers with displays for it and my 1300 x 2500 CNC...one of those controllers will only work with mach3...I really like the display and the Macro keys...have you ever thought about those controllers and from you point of view can you say why you are using Mach4 instead of Mach3...Also Jay I was very impressed with the level of detail you went into when you did your digital setup of you Machine and the positioning of your fixtures ( and all the cuts you setup in the software for the Machine)..I normally will just create a jig that I will set to the table and use the corner of that jig for a reference on most of my cuts. I also Enjoy using CarveCo (Never tried Aspire...I feel like Carve does the More "Artsy" 3D kind of things I want to do easier) Also I stay in Metric( I think I do that because of the CNC and the lasers...Which is a very universal tool). Again I am very Impressed with your level of detail and the thoughtful approach you show in your work.
