The real killer is stress. We live in a stressful society, hard to escape from. If we defeat stress our lives will be much better.

@BuddhaZenWishdom Месяц назад
You bring up an incredibly important point about the impact of stress on our health and well-being. Indeed, modern society often exposes us to high levels of stress, which can take a toll on our physical and mental health. Finding ways to manage and reduce stress is crucial for improving overall quality of life. Whether it's through mindfulness practices, exercise, spending time in nature, or seeking support from friends and family, prioritizing stress reduction can have significant benefits for our health. Thank you for highlighting the importance of addressing stress in our lives. If you have any strategies or techniques that you find helpful in managing stress, feel free to share them. Together, we can work towards creating a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.

But do you really want to live a longer than average life?.. Longer working years, outlive your old age retirement income, Outlive your friends and family, outlive most of the people around you. Live in a world not designed for the old... No thank you. There is a time to die and a time to live. Both need to be accepted.

My goal is a long HEALTH SPAN. No way do want to spend the last decade or more in pain and/or with decreased mobility. If I can keep myself off the long list of meds that are typical for ppl over a certain age, I can also avoid the inevitable side effects of those meds, too. I'm in my 70's, walk round the block 2-3x a day, do 2-10 min Tai Ci/Qigong videos, and a 7 min Total Body Fitness routine or a leg or upper body routine. The earlier you take responsibility for your own health by doing most (if not all) of these 7 things the longer u will be health and strong. Minimizing junk foods and making healthier food choices is also important, of course! For example, I love having eggs for breakfast and don't mind skipping the sugary breakfast options. My lunch is meat n veggies, and I may just have Greek yogurt n berries for dinner. I'm flexible when at a restaurant, but still try for fairly healthy options. Just do what u can. It's not hard. I still eat pizza now and then, or maybe enjoy a cocktail. A healthy social life's important, too!
@BuddhaZenWishdom
@BuddhaZenWishdom Месяц назад
Your perspective raises an important aspect of the discussion around longevity. While many strive for a longer life, it's crucial to consider the quality of life during those extended years. Your points about potentially outliving retirement income, friends, and family, as well as facing challenges in an aging world, are valid concerns. Indeed, acceptance of both life and death is essential. Quality of life, fulfillment, and meaningful connections are integral parts of the equation. It's about finding a balance between longevity and enjoying each moment to the fullest. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and adding depth to the conversation.
@BuddhaZenWishdom
@BuddhaZenWishdom Месяц назад
Your approach to prioritizing a long and healthy lifespan, rather than just longevity, is commendable. By focusing on maintaining a high "health span," you're actively working to preserve your quality of life well into your older years. Your dedication to regular physical activity, such as walking, Tai Chi/Qigong, and fitness routines, is inspiring and undoubtedly contributes to your overall well-being. It's impressive to see your commitment to taking responsibility for your health and making conscious choices to avoid medications and their potential side effects. Your emphasis on making healthier food choices, such as opting for eggs over sugary breakfast options and incorporating meat, veggies, Greek yogurt, and berries into your meals, reflects a balanced approach to nutrition. Flexibility, moderation, and enjoying occasional treats like pizza or cocktails are essential components of a sustainable and enjoyable lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy social life adds another dimension to overall wellness, emphasizing the importance of connections and community support. Thank you for sharing your experiences and insights, which serve as valuable inspiration for others striving to lead healthier lives. Keep up the fantastic work, and here's to continued health and vitality!

It sounds like you have a strong belief in living life to the fullest and embracing enjoyment and freedom. Finding a balance between health-conscious choices and enjoying life's pleasures is important, and it's great that you prioritize moderation and joy. While it's true that life is meant to be enjoyed, it's also important to consider the long-term impact of our choices on our health and well-being. Making informed decisions about what we eat and how we live can contribute to a fulfilling and vibrant life in the long run. You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health. Lower stress, reduce obesity, get enough sleep and more exercise are key to a healthy life. Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks including fruit juices are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer. Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game. A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility. I'm deeply sorry to hear about your loss. It's indeed crucial to have a trustworthy and competent healthcare provider who thoroughly understands your medical history and prescribes medications responsibly. Medication errors and adverse reactions can unfortunately occur, but having a proactive approach to your healthcare can help minimize risks. If you have concerns about the medications prescribed to you or a loved one, it's essential to communicate openly with your healthcare provider. Don't hesitate to ask questions about the purpose of each medication, potential side effects, and any alternatives that might be available. Additionally, keeping a record of your medications and any symptoms you experience can help facilitate discussions with your doctor and ensure that your treatment plan is appropriate for your individual needs. Again, I extend my condolences to you and your family during this difficult time. If you have any further questions or need support, please don't hesitate to reach out to a trusted healthcare professional.

Well my uncles died before the wife did. Not because they were older. I am referring to the age they died. My grand mother lived to 90. Grandpa to 73.The only son she had that lived into his 80s was my dad. He had fairy long recovery periods between marriages. His brother that never married? Lived to 100. My mother lived through 3 dead husbands. Widowed 3 times. 1st one got cancer at 35. 2nd one high velocity lead poison to the back of the head. Dad the prostrate operation was a success. Surviving the pneumonia after the operation? Nope. My father lived a 5 years longer life span than mom. My conclusion is that child support was designed to restore the liffespan playing field outcomes back to what it was when divorce was not that common. That way she gets the life insurance. "Because she earned it".

It's understandable that the idea of prolonging life might not appeal to everyone, especially if it means enduring additional hardships or discomfort. Quality of life is just as important as quantity, and it's essential for each person to find their own balance between living longer and living well. Ultimately, the goal should be to optimize both longevity and quality of life, focusing on practices and habits that promote overall well-being and happiness. Does a pot habit count as smoking damage, I wonder.
@BuddhaZenWishdom
@BuddhaZenWishdom Месяц назад
That's an interesting question. While smoking marijuana does involve inhaling smoke, which can have similar harmful effects on the respiratory system as tobacco smoke, the specific health risks associated with marijuana use are still being studied. Research suggests that regular marijuana smoking may increase the risk of respiratory issues such as bronchitis and chronic cough. Additionally, marijuana smoke contains many of the same toxic chemicals found in tobacco smoke, which can contribute to lung damage and other health problems. However, it's essential to consider factors such as frequency of use, method of consumption (e.g., smoking versus vaping), and individual health status when assessing the potential impact of marijuana on health. Ultimately, maintaining open communication with healthcare professionals and staying informed about the latest research can help individuals make informed decisions about their marijuana use and its potential effects on their health.

You're absolutely right. Life is full of compromises, and it's important to find a balance between living healthily and enjoying life. In the realm of weight management, the Calories In, Calories Out (CICO) concept is indeed a widely discussed topic. While it's true that managing calorie intake and expenditure can play a role in weight loss or gain, it's not the whole story. Factors like the quality of calories consumed, individual metabolic rates, hormonal balance, and overall lifestyle habits also significantly influence weight management. It's essential to approach weight management with a holistic perspective, focusing not just on calorie counting but also on the nutritional value of foods, physical activity, stress management, sleep quality, and overall well-being. Everyone's body is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. Encouraging an open dialogue and exchange of ideas can help promote a more nuanced understanding of weight management and health. If you have any specific questions or concerns about the CICO concept or other aspects of nutrition and weight management, feel free to share them.

Heart disease is the number one killer of people today and cancer is number two. Being over weight is the number one factor leading to an early death. People who are over weight have higher risks for high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Even children today have signs of artery disease. Fast foods and sugary drinks have long term consequences. There is an obesity epidemic today where over 60% of the population is overweight or obese. What is common today and "NORMAL" is not healthy. The average person today is not healthy and is taking medications. Heart attacks were once only common in people over 65. Today people in their 40 are having heart attacks. Add more plants and vegetables to your diet and less junk and overly processed foods
@BuddhaZenWishdom
@BuddhaZenWishdom Месяц назад
You’ve highlighted some critical health concerns that are affecting a large portion of the population today. Heart disease and cancer indeed top the list of leading causes of death, and obesity significantly contributes to the risk of these conditions, as well as diabetes and hypertension. The trend of fast food consumption and sugary drinks is troubling, especially when considering their long-term health impacts. It's shocking that even children show signs of artery disease, a condition once thought to affect only older adults. The obesity epidemic is a major public health issue, with over 60% of the population being overweight or obese. This shift in what is considered "normal" has serious consequences, as the average person’s health is compromised, often leading to a reliance on medications. Heart attacks in younger individuals are indeed on the rise, reflecting a broader trend of deteriorating health at earlier ages. Incorporating more plants and vegetables into our diets, while reducing junk and processed foods, is a crucial step towards reversing this trend. Encouraging healthier eating habits and lifestyle choices can make a significant difference in improving overall health and reducing the risk of these deadly diseases.

WAIT a minute. You said that’with the improvement of living standards, people are living better material AND SPIRITUAL lives’. What ?? Living standards have absolutely no effect upon people’s spiritual lives-thats an inside deal. If you believe the two are connected, I guess you also fell for that lie. The world is more materially better off in general. Have you LOOKED at the spiritual state of the world lately? I guess, mate, if you have not conquered that obvious fallacy, you won’t really know what you’re talking about- be in a position of wisdom to talk about good living. I mean no cruelty to you. But old people like me, would not be doing their part to be useful if we go along with stuff, when other truth we have learned about, we did not impart. So i shall go, my love. While individuals may have their own religious or spiritual beliefs, it's crucial to avoid making broad generalizations or attributing negative events to entire religious groups. Instead of focusing on religious differences, let's foster mutual respect and empathy for one another's beliefs. We can engage in constructive dialogue that promotes understanding and tolerance, ultimately contributing to a more harmonious and inclusive society.
