The word on the street is it's better to buy gold from the Gold and Diamond Park in Dubai - I haven't been, but it's what two of my local friends there say. Check out these two links to help you identify real gold. Why is in it in indian culture that promotes scamming. Even in religious sites in india it is filled with scammers. You will never find scammers in Jerusalem or vatican city or makkah.
@@rhna8298 it's not particularly religious sites , where u see scamming is going on, its on street, market everywhere,on the contrary every beggar ask fr money on the name of Allah, fr eg imran khan 😂😂
No offense in Pakistan things are different, where quite a lot of things become free . Perhaps it’s because there are not many foreigners there . But scamming isn’t much common even amongst the locals either .
Best is to shop from a store, the gold market is really well regulated in Dubai. Also something westerners in general we tend to forget is that in here you can actually negotiate and ask for the "final price". You can get easily 20% discount (maybe even more) if you know how to negotiate!
That's assuming the police want to catch the scammers. Why would they want to do that? At least here in India they don't. You don't pay all that money to secure a plum police job, so you can do actual work.
Theres actually a few tests you can do, one's an acid test, There's also a scanner that will let you know what particles are in the thing you scan. Most reputable places would have one on site as they'd use it to buy gold.
If they were in their own home if I did then they wouldn’t be so nice…. If the police get involved?? They’re fucked… Dubai police hate Indians n brown skinned ppl
This has reduced here in Gold Souq as many jewelers like us have raised this issue with Dubai authorities. Scammers not only deteriorate the value of the Diamond jewellery but also the whole area or even the industry where they scam. So everyone please be aware of this.
Gold test kits are inexpensive and small enough to carry with you. Also, if they are showing you real gold and doing a "switcheroo" in the back, tell them you don't need a bag take it immediately and don't let them go out of your sight with the item.
Great video with valuable information, that will hopefully help so many people visiting Dubai and wishing to purchase gold. I am sure that this video, will save people making very 'costly' mistakes!!
The best way to get rid of scammers is to say that you dont have any money and youll only take it if it is free. It helps in literally every country ive been from asia to africa and south america. They just immediately leave u.
I would generally won't recommend you buying things from the Souq.. it is the most easy there to get scammed and you wont feel it .. especially when it comes for perfumes or gold. I'd recommend going for big famous stores that sell those (usually in malls) I would go for the Souq just to walk .. but not to buy ...(Never to me)
I'm from uae and live near Dubai, if you go to the right places and find a friend who speaks Arabic it'll be much easier and scammers won't approach to locals.
I once got scammed when i was buying flowers for valentines day. It was a busy day and a guy approached me and i thought he’s legit. End up getting f-up bouquet and was very upset.. i was a student back then and money is very tight but its valentines day.. luckily my girl love me and still smiled when i gave it to her.. but after that day i never trust any sale person that approach me on the street
You have balls of steel man it's not just this one video you're out there exposing these scammers everywhere. They probably don't like it. And being criminals and all you know...
Try using a ohmmeter to test for electrical conductivity. If it’s pure gold it should have around a specific resistance. (This requires some setup so it might not work) Or try to use the water density test if the object is pure gold.
Absolutely agree I went to a proper store in Dubai when I went to browse the gold and diamond quarter don’t trust shady people always go to the actual proper store don’t waste money on what is more than likely plated or cheap crap!
Karl, I have been to Dubai so often, I have lost count. First of all, I wouldn't entrust anyone on the street to take me to a gold shop,I can find it myself. Never encountered these "alleged" scammers.
Damn, I have been living here for like 7 years now, and I have been on Gold Souq many times, but this is my first time hearing about this, its quite shocking indeed 😅
We have a family store here in the main gold souq market. Not one single shop owner will ever scam you. Every month government officials come to these store and randomly pick out jewellery even from drawers, test it and then fine us if it's not what advertised. The best way is to walk int to any of the store and not talk to random people on the street. Best of luck and do visit Dulabdas Jewellers if you come :)
I live in Abu Dhabi ,the capital of the UAE, and let me tell u this the amount of scammers in dubai is just half of the amount in Abu Dhabi. Its a shame that such disgusting people make some tourist not want to visit or revisit such a beautiful and fascinating country.
Well if the authorities have allowed this country to turn into a mini pakistan or delhi it isn't suprising. The Creme de la creme of desi scamming showmanship
The population of Abu Dhabi is miniscule compared to Dubai. Where are you even finding so many scammers. Also majority of Indians work for companies in ADNOC and the private companies which take contracts from them, so mostly they aren't broke.
No bro, i dont agree with ya. Gold quality and purity in UAE is 100% under inspection of the gov. No one can even dare to do such a fraud in UAE. That's why Dubai is the hub for gold. Salute to UAE
I’ve watched a bunch of your videos now. And I was a little surprised when you say your from New Zealand. I thought you just told scammers that to just say something. I was dead sure you spoke good English with a Swedish accent 😆. I am now going to explore the zealand accent 😀
May be he is right but I am staying from 2009 , according to my experience they will just take tourist to the shop and instead they will take commission from there.
Bought from Deira Gold Soukh before but from one of the larger stores on main passage. No issues. The bait and switch trick I encountered frequently in markets around China
Just joined you karl. I started selling American history and high end pieces online 6 years ago. I understand you in wanting to be SELF MADE. People say to me "how did you sell mid century lights to the producers at Stranger Things" or "that's cool that pawn stars asked you to come on there show". I say "If it was easy, everyone would do it. I just make it look easy". Glad you found your niche. Keep doing your thing and stay safe. CB
My dad is into stocks as he buy/sell with Edward Jones. Ill pass that info on to him. Ive been buying gold coins in Colorado springs lately. I like it better than paper. Anywho looks like you know how to negotiate. I like your buying skills at the theifs market. 👍
Dear Karl, Welcome to Dubai. We the residents of Dubai love this country as much we love our home country. First of all you cannot film anyone without their permission and upload it on any social media channels without their consent as it is extremely illegal. You will land yourself in trouble for doing this - this law is found within Article 378 of Federal Law no. 3 of 1987 of the Penal Code The information you provided is not 100% right, if the shops scam you with fake gold you can always approach the police which is at every corner of gold Souq or just call 999. People here in UAE are loyal and faithful with whatever businesses they do & the laws in UAE are really strict and every expat or visitor is aware of it. People love your channel, you get millions of views on your videos try to spread some positivity, most of your videos are of fake scammers, thief, beware etc. Think twice before posting any negative/false information about UAE. I wish you a pleasant stay in Dubai 😊
Good you visited here👍🇦🇪 Also Karl, be careful when vlogging here as there are laws here when taking videos and pictures in public places. A guy harassing u to buy stuff might turn the tables & accuse u of filming him.
I've been there so many times as a child... it was such an otherworldly experience.. I miss it. UAE is such a part of a my heart, especially cause of the other non-Emiratis, actually that I met while growing up
Great video! Lot of scammers are there. If anyone approach you for Rolex, Gold, it's a scam. They will rob your whole wallet, in one of the bank alleys.
