Morgan, can I just take a second to critique your vlogs. I just wanted to point out how informative and interesting your vlogs are. You really do a great job delivering the details on the exhaust, the wheels, etc... Thank you for not click baiting and/or filling the first 17 minutes of a 20 minute vlog with nonsense. You really do a great job and I appreciate the work and research that goes into it. I just ordered my C8 from Amoni at Ciocca on Saturday (I put my $1000 deposit back in late March). I can't wait to get it... it feels real now. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Hey Steve, thank you so much for letting me know. People like you are the fuel to my fire and I love every single minute of it. I am truly living the dream getting to work on vettes and deal with kind awesome people like you. Thank you man. Keep me in the loop about your order and if you have any questions
@@johnnyivan1977 Yes, I have it sitting in my garage. I've had it for about a year and a half now. 2022 3LT in Torch Red. The place that did the wrap made a short little video and put it on RU-vid if you want to check it out. Not sure if this link will work or not but if not, the Channel is Oakes Detail and my car was the last video they posted. www.youtube.com/@OakesDetail
Definitely a huge improvement. AWE really makes the best sounding exhaust on the C8 in my opinion. Once I had their exhaust on my ZR1 I knew I had to have it on my C8, too. You made a wise choice, my friend!
A. It sounds GREAT!👍 B. You were absolutely right about the black tips. They just disappeared, making the rear facia look cleaner. Well done, Morgan. Well done.👍👍
Thank you Morgan! This was fantastic. I purchased the same AWE exhaust that you did because I could hear it in person at Carlisle. I did not have my car with me, so I am waiting for delivery now. Your video reinforces my decision to purchase the AWE product. I also liked the sound, price point, black tips (I have the Hypersonic Gray C8.R, so the tips are also the only chrome on my car) and the customer service was fantastic. In fact, they honored the show price for a full week after the show. I took advantage of that on the last day of the offer. I had all of the apprehensions that you talked about in this video. I am typically a "bone stock" guy, so this was a tough call for me. Thank you for giving me some peace of mind about my decision! Can't wait to get it installed now. 08:40
Welcome to the AWE family Morgan…I have the AWE Touring CATBACK Exhaust non resonated on my 2017 ZL1 and I absolutely LOVE IT…best sounding exhaust PERIOD. The 4.5 inch quad tips combined with the the deep sounding and no drone sets it apart. You made a very very wise choice. To this day I still get compliments on the sound. When you sell to the next owner, trust me when I say this but they won’t want the stock exhaust and if they do move on to the next buyer!!! Enjoy!!!
The best time to get rid of that silver exhaust heat shield behind the exhaust tips is when you have the rear bumper off and are changing out the exhaust! You can still do by dropping the rear wheel liner, though. It's amazing how much faster something like this goes when you have a lift and two guys who know what they are doing!
Once again fantastic, relevant and interesting vlog. Morgan your channel is one of the best out there and I’m sure all that view it appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing. I definitely look forward to your next video and again thank you for all you do as I know this takes a lot of time putting this all together.
Thank you very much Paul. It’s a lot of work outside my job description at my dealership and I am really glad to see people are enjoying it. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy my future episodes
Just had this installed, sounds great, looks great... one issue I am having is when the car is in V4, there is definitely drone.. even in Z mode it doesn't stop the V4 cylinder deactivation.. any thoughts??
Looks fantastic sounds much better than stock. I agree for those of us that like the so called black accents, black tips are awesome! I wish you would have remote started you car before signing off. Show me what your working with! Nice job designing and putting your signature on your car.
Oh right on, yeah it’s pretty sweet but my wife and the cops in London Ontario wouldn’t approve of it and for that reason I didn’t. I am glad you enjoy it though
Your nuts , you have taken owning a Vette to a incomprehensible point , you angst over slight color changes , subtle differences nobody but you will ever notice . You remind me of who I don't want to be .😊
Nice job on the video. The black tips look way better than the stock ones on these cars. Check out the black Corsa heat shields that sit directly behind the tips if you haven't already. I put them on when I did the exhaust on my C8 and I think it looks a lot better than having those bright silver heat shields show through the exhaust tip cavity.
HI, Nice video, AWE looks and sounds great. I purchased a Borla system for my C8, reason i did is because i wanted to retain the valves. In doing my research on all the different systems, most did not allow you to still use valves. I am going for best of both worlds( I HOPE). So this way with valves closed tone is only slightly louder and with valves open sounds quite a bit louder and i have used Borla systems on other Trucks and have been 100% happy with there systems. Have not installed it yet, my corvette guy is recovering from covid, hopefully he's doing well.
Did you ever get CEL's with the AWE ? People say no matter what aftermarket exhaust you put on , you may still get CEL's because the C8 engine computer is looking for back pressure . It's keeping me away from putting an exhaust system on mine .
Great informative video . So from what I can understand I wouldn’t be able to control exhaust note with AWE and if I decide on this set up on my base stingray , don’t check the box for NPP and use my savings on the aftermarket correct ? Hi just looked at there conversion kit for 399 , with that can I go from touring to track sound ?
Yessir you are correct, you have covered almost half of the cost of your upgraded exhaust by loosing npp from the factory. Yes they offer conversion kits so if you decided to change it you easily can do so. I find myself only ever wanting one exhaust note so that’s why the awe is the one for me based on price sound and functionality
Hey buddy. If you put the AWE or most cat back exhausts on than you will only have one mode. If there are no valves than you can not adjust the note, this is an important question you need to ask yourself about your driving habits before you purchase. Having one exhaust note is not for everyone but getting the right one is well worth the sacrifice in my opinion
@@Cars_and_Crosbie thank you so much for the reply! You’re right in the video I would only use quiet mode 10% of the time (trying to be nice to the neighbours) I’m going to leave the exhaust standard as in not order the sports exhaust and use that saving to install AWE exhaust. It sounds the best from what I can tell online lol . Approximately how much would the AWE cost? Thanks again:)
@@Cars_and_Crosbie quick question I do have the stock z51 sports exhaust. Could I put on either the track or touring exhaust with no issues? or since I have the valve system do I need to go with the touring only? Thanks in for your help. Love your vid
Hey Morgan, great video! I just took delivery of my C8 convertible in July. I might consider this exhaust upgrade. However, on the topic of exhausts, have you had a problem with exhaust smell seeping into the trunk area with the stock exhaust? I've been having issues with that on my convertible and according to my dealership, 27 people have complained to them about the same problem. No fix from GM. Are you aware of this? Do you have a problem with this on your coupe with the stock exhaust? Wondering if the AWE exhaust will have this problem. Thanks kindly!
Wow that is really weird. I have never ever heard of that issue. I promise I have not once smelled it even in mine, that sounds really odd that you are smelling something
@@Cars_and_Crosbie Then perhaps it's a problem only with the convertible. In the forums some convertible owners complain and others don't. It seems to be very spotty problem. I wonder if it has something to do with whether you opt for the performance exhaust.
Morgan your Vlogs are very interesting. I need help with buying my Vossens. I don't want to lower my vehicle but I do want to fill in my wheel well. C8
Hey buddy, I am glad you like them. If you can shoot me an email I will get you in touch with my west coast team out of LA for Vossen. Morgan.Crosbie@gmail.com
Incorrect on heat shielding on OEM. We have taken it apart and not much difference between it and touring... The damping of flow is the big difference. The OEM is an excellent exhaust just a bit more restricted
Thanks Morgan for the exhaust info. How tough was it get them to do the work at Carlisle by actual AWE Techs? Who would I contact if I want to this in 2022 at Carlisle? BTW Your vlog was good but a bit more time to hear the note would have made it even better - just saying.
Hey Morgan, great video! Few questions - was this at the Corvettes at Carlisle or are these vendors always there? Did you order the AWE exhaust yourself and bring it, or did they have it there for you? What did it cost for just the install portion? Thanks! Also- were those AWE techs that installed it?
Yes!!!! I think that’s a great idea but unfortunately it needs to be mounted high so they can get the wide angle field of view. So sadly there is probably no solution in sight, which sucks
You may feel you have the freedom to have the exhaust note you wish for your car. Fortunately you don't live in California, this state passed a law at the beginning of 2021 that the exhaust can't be any louder than factory. If it exceeds a certain decibel level you can be cited. And you have to return it to factory level. Just saying
Oh that sucks. We have the same law here in canada but fortunately police are preoccupied with much more pertinent issues than a law abiding citizen with a slightly louder car. Most police wouldn’t even know it’s aftermarket from the looks of it. I treat it like my no front plate, if your being an idiot than I deserve to get pulled over and cited but if I am driving in a respectful manner the police will leave you alone cause they have bigger fish to fry.
Now that you've had you AWE exhaust for several months, how do you like it? Still no codes? I have a 2021 Stingray, non-NPP, that I am looking to upgrade its exhaust. There are too many choices, without a clear understanding of the advantages of one product over another. Your review makes me lean in the direction of AWE. Any additional info you could provide? Thanks!
Not a single issue. Very happy with the exhaust. Keep in mind labour is high to get it installed and it’s not a beginner job, take it to a known corvette expert
@@Cars_and_Crosbie One more question, Morgan. Have you noticed any overheating issues with the AWE? It seems to have less insulation around its assembly as compared with Borla. Thanks!
How does the touring exhaust compare to the tracking exhaust... is it alot louder? I'm thinking about getting the track exhaust, if its too load, I'll purchase the conversion kit!
I’m not sold on GM not being able to make a better sounding stock Setup. They are just cheap and didn’t wanna invest. Dodge cars stock exhaust sound so much better hell, even Ford exhaust sounds good stock. I’m a Chevy man and love corvettes but, GM will always take the cheap way out smh. A lighter rear exhaust is a good selling point but, it doesn’t account for the weight balance of the car that GM originally accounted for ( some weight to help rear grip as the car people say lol). It’s like When GM convince people to buy the NPP exhaust for an extra 5hp… smh. Anybody who’s knows car will tell you that 5hp is laughable and GM never tells you where that 5hp is on the power band… great selling gimmick. Any car that breathes a little better will make more hp somewhere on the power band but, the computer on these cars will only allow so much. Just as much as these CAI companies claiming great power gains. Not many CAI for the C8 Because… it is a complete waste of time for a midengine setup like the C8. The AWE sounds better than stock but, not hard to do with all these companies now have after market exhaust for the Corvette. I always say, you wanna fast stock car, order non z51, add no extra aero for reduced drag and never waste money on NPP exhaust. Just buy after market headers, cars, and exhaust.
You have some good points but I think you forget that people get npp so they can change the exhaust note up too. I agree the manufacturer can make better exhausts but keep in mind this is their entry level product too. Plenty more coming through the pipes pardon the pun ;)
Changing exhaust tips is a lot like adding curb feelers or mud flaps on your Lambo or Ferrari, it's a non sequeter a nothing burger , it's lipstick on a pig .
Diddnt want to take a risk and have to quarantine for two weeks, miss my anniversary vacation and tell my boss that I was going to be away during a busy critical time of work. Not worth the risk
@@Cars_and_Crosbie But that's not how it works Morgan. I can appreciate what you're saying, however, masks do not stop you from getting anything, they only prevent you from infecting others if you're sick by not spitting on them... (not an opinion, straight from WHO, CDC and Health Canada websites). You would only have to quarantine if you test positive upon your return to Canada, and a mask won't change that if you were exposed. Travelling down was risk I'm sure you knew before planning that trip (don't get me wrong, I would have gone down as well in your position), but, part of that planning should have taken into consideration all of the "what if's", including a possible quarantine if you did in fact get sick... just saying. Love your video's Morgan, not looking to start an argument about C19 protocols at all....
