When those BAR Honda v10s were at Indy they were the loudest of the bunch. They actually hurt my ears. The others I could listen to without needing earplugs. However, this was on the main straight where the sound was bouncing off of the infield and regular main straight seats. It's almost like going through a tunnel. Nice upload, thanks!
This MP4/4 v6 turbo sounds great yet when I was at the 2014 Australian F1 GP the car sounded very low and deep with the added high pitch of the turbo sound. They almost were at the same pitch as the v8 super cars, the Australian touring cars. hopefully the FIA can do something to bring up the sound of these F1 cars. I was led to believe that the cars at the Australian F1 race or practice were revving at about 12,000 revs as opposed to the 15,000 revs they are capable of doing now. I miss the 18 K revs we are all used to. I remember the locals of Albert Park complaining of the loud noise of the F1 cars, now they are complaining that they don't sound like F1 cars. What a laugh. I must say, after a couple of days i got used to the low growl and high pitched whirring of the turbos. It seems like they are difficult to control with less downforce and high torque as seen by Kimmi Raikonen's experience all weekend amongst others.
Would have been interesting to see the Willilams-Honda FW11B vs McLaren-Honda MP4/4. I think the Williams had higher turbo boost for 1987 than the McLaren had in 1988. The Lotus was not a great chassis.
