McLaren Honda MP4/4 (1988 late) vol.2 - Ultimate V6 Turbo engine 

The turbos in the 80's just sounded mad, raw and furious. Rally cars, F1 and Group C cars, amazing !

Knowing what a F1 V6 Turbo of today sounds compared to this one, makes me very sad and almost cry.

That turbo lag sound it's amazing

A real F-1 car. The power input of the two turbos is brutal. Only legends like Senna, Prost, Mansell and Piquet could take these cars to the limit. The F-1 with the current cars that seem battery-powered will never bring this emotion.

So, Honda went from V6 in 1988 then V10 in 1989 and then V12 in 1990 and still got power and reliability from all those engine formats unlike nowadays. Although now there's a "powerunit" with Mgu-H and K. For which Honda is a pain to get right. I hope they can get it right for next year with Mclaren and Sauber. And Mclaren don't chicken out with Mercedes.

McLaren Honda MP4/4... The best Formula 1 in history. The Turbo power taken to its limits! And let me say: Alain Prost Forever!!!!! The most complete F1 driver of all times. For Senna: all the respect. The most mythical rivalry ever! The moment when Senna asked Prost to go up in the podium in their last race together, in 1993... What a time! And I was there to witness!

I can say that Black Metal music and V6T engine sounds have one thing in common... Both sound beautiful! 😇

The engineer in me is amazed by the efficiency of the new engines (and sounds is energy that doesn't help you go fast), but God the monkey part of my brain wishes this is what thr cars still sounded like

Back in 2012 or 2013. When they announced that Formula One will switch to turbocharged 1.6L V6 engines but with a hybrid KERS system. The sound of the 1980's turbocharged 1.5L V6 F1 cars comes to my mind, and of this McLaren MP4/4 of Senna and Prost. Then 2014 comes, I felt disappointed when it sounded just a whoosh of air. I hope they can do something to excite the fans to sound like those 1980's F1 cars.

Aquele tempo não havia controle de tração, ia apenas na sensibilidade do pé direito do piloto. Se vocês prestarem atenção o cara nem acelera muito e o biturbo 1500cc perde tração tamanha força. Os pilotos da época tinham que ter o feeling de acelerar rápido sem destracionar o carro e a hora que os turbos enchiam a potência vinha como um pataço no peito do piloto. Pilotar esses carros era só pros fortes.
