It's kind of offensive to consider another extremely intelligent and compassionate creature disgusting down to its core. There is certainly a reason for it, because it was difficult to maintain a safe environment for pigs from disease back when running water was scarce etc. but now it's no longer the case. It's taken a bit to far with regard to the moral dilemma when a lot of other things are ignored from religious text (weather it's telling to do or not do something).

+Jason Reynolds the delivery is written, too. You have to manage the suspense and relaxation of waiting for a laugh/twist in the right way. If you look at good comedians, you will notice how they guide you through that up and down of suspense, relax and laugh very skillfully.

F Gul Why do you care so much about how other people live? Drinking alcohol might be haram, but it's completely irrelevant to your life. He's not hurting anyone, is he? Aziz is culturally Muslim, but as he said, he isn't religious. The sooner you start realizing that you can't control other people's lives, the sooner Islam will actually learn to coexist with other religions, and the sooner we can actually have world peace. Plenty of Christians have differing views on what is allowed or not as well, but they don't kill each other over it. Live and let live.

The Old Testament clearly says "And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. (From the NIV Bible, Leviticus 11:7-8)". I don't feed pork to my Muslim friends - that would be disrespectful.... but I will certainly eat pork in front of them. I was vegetarian for 27 years and it never bothered me if meat eaters ate meat in front of me. My dad was Jewish and I would eat pork around him - it was never an issue.

Xiao Hei I used to be like that but then after awhile I knew I couldn't keep the facade up anymore. I personally find the religion a lot of nomadic nonsense so I came clean to my parents that I wasn't muslim anymore. Neither were impressed but they've grown to understand my decision now and I personally feel much happier not having to pretend to be something I'm not. I still celebrate Eid and join in with the Ramadan evening meals but as for the religious aspect I've kicked that nonsense in the curb where it belongs

Yeah, Conan misspoke. You can tell he was grasping to try to find something to say. There was a huge pause before he said it. Unfortunately, the first thing that came to him didn't make much sense and made him look sound ignorant. But it happens. Most of the conversation was about religion, not Asian culture, so that's where his mind went.

My cousins and I (most of whom are no longer religious) have girlfriends/boyfriends and our parents, while uncomfortable about it, sort of let it slide. But the one time my dad caught me eating a peperoni pizza they both got upset and he had my mom call me and talk to me about it after (they were visiting in college that weekend; they must have gone home and discussed it more). Although to be fair, I don't bring pork or girlfriends around the house... I just occasionally let them know that I'm still eating pork and dating so that it's not a surprise when I finally do bring a ham sandwich and a girl home someday.

This issue comes up every time I visit my parents. I buy bacon because, how else do you eat breakfast, and my mom does the exact same thing every single time where she says "Why are you eating pork, you're a muslim!" and then I say "I haven't been a muslim for 14 years, that's not about to change" and she goes into a dramatic monologue about me not respecting god. And then they buy me more bacon when they're grossery shopping anyway, because if it a South Asian parent values higher than religion, it's their children eating tons of food.

Aziz's story telling talent is just amazing. He just looks like a school boy who ran away from school and was forced into an over sized coat and then asked to sit in the Conan studio. And Conan really seems to enjoy his humor. And when Conan laughs, you must. That's just the way humans are wired.

So like Aziz I'm no longer a Muslim..I don't know what it is about pork, I just can't bring myself to eat it. I've had it on a few occasions by accident, but stopped as soon as I realised it pork. I didn't feel disgusted as I would have, but it's really weird, I cnt bring myself to actually eat it.

Can you be a teacher who doesn't teach or be a medical doctor who doesn't practice medicine ? Then how can he be a Muslim but don't practice Islam. He clearly says his family is religious but not him. Allah gave him a freedom to eat pork, date, drink alcohol or whatever he wants for limited time. My position as a Muslim is to wish him the best and pray that Allah guide him and us. On a different note can you imagine the price of halal meat or even regular meat such as lamb, chicken and fish if people stop eating pork ? while I wish the best for everyone, I also recognize how blessed I am to eat $20 wild salmon for the whole week. I am sure I would pay a lot more if a lot of people quit eating pork.
