Thanks Girls for taking me on that journey. Hats off to you!!!!!!❤ I will be 65 in a couple of weeks and I hiked the Grand Canyon just 40 years ago. I especially enjoyed sharing this walk with you! Thank you again🙂From another oldie on the loose🤣
Old people on the loose! 😂 Love it! You ladies would be much fun to hike with! Hiking the Grand Canyon is a dream of mine. Thank you for videoing your rim to rim hike. It’s the best I’ve seen. So beautiful. It almost brought me to tears. 🤞someday’
I’ve been following you two for a couple years now and love your energy and positive attitudes!! This video is by far my favorite!! My husband and I had the privilege of living in Tusayan for 4 years and we hiked in the Canyon many times. You are so on point in your feelings of awe! Nothing compares to actually being IN the canyon! The wonder of it lives on in me and will forever live on in your hearts!!
I've just recently discovered you and really enjoy watching you guys. I'm an older woman on the loose too and it somehow makes me feel better knowing you completely forget random things too! I love to hike but I'm not a backpacker; just got chills from your grand canyon experience. Keep up the good work!
Ladies, you are so inspirational. Well done! The Grand Canyon rim hike has now made it onto my bucket list. Amazing scenery. As a 63 year-old UK long distance walker who retires in 10 days time, I have a few adventures planned. Thanks to you, I'm heading off to Slovenia in June to hike the Juliana Trail - not quite the difficult mountainous climbs and via ferratta stuff you did, but even so. Keep on keeping on.
Have experienced a few "old people on the loose" moments too 🤩. Being able to laugh at ourselves is a gift of acceptance. Thank you for taking us along 🧡💙🧡💙🧡
About 4 years ago in our early 60's my husband and I hiked down South Kaibab, spent the night at Phantom Ranch and came back up the Bright Angel trail. Of all the hiking we have done, it is still the highlight of my life.
Its amazing to see that North Rim trail is such good condition. I saw it took a real beating the past couple of seasons from rock and mud slides. Beautiful. It's been 7 years today since I completed my rim to rim. The canyon is spiritual and magical for the soul.
My mom’s dream had always been to take a mule ride down the canyon. When she and my dad retired, they plus my sister and I (in our 20s) took that trip down the south rim, spent the night at Phantom Ranch and rode back up the next day (still on the south rim). Your video was so lovely. It brought back good memories. The canyon seems more beautiful than ever. I am now in my 70’s and don’t think I could make the trip at this point, but you are so right - the view from the rim is nothing like the view from inside the canyon. Wishing you continued success in all your travels. Thank you for taking us along!
Would love more info on your itinerary and permits. You’ve inspired me! When we went to the Grand Canyon many years ago, I saw some older hikers getting ready to head down into the canyon and I told myself that I wanted to be able to accomplish that. Well now I’m 58 and I think it’s time. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
I have always enjoyed your adventures. But this one is on the top of my incredibly awesome places to be list. Want to thank the both of you for making me feel like I was there absolutely gorgeous.
Love this video. It is a hike I will never do and I wish I could. I have hiked the rim twice and always said I would one day hike into the canyon. Well, now health issues will keep me from that goal. So, yes do it now. Thank you for taking me along.
Lived at the canyon 8 years Hiked all through it too many times to keep track. Never got tired of it. Lighting always changing. Best place I ever worked
Oh my heart, wow my heart was scared for you. Plus my being scared of high. ( thanks dad, that’s where I get it from. ) But I never knew that you could hike into there. And that it was so green. Beautiful! I love this. So cool!
Just got caught up on your videos. I'll keep saying it; I'm so grateful that you guys film your adventures. Gives me a chance to see places I may never visit. Glad you got thru that snowstorm OK and what a great rim to rim adventure! I was at the canyon decades ago; I camped for several days. It was awesome. Meanwhile up here in CS the weather is cold, windy and rainy. So anxious to hike soon!
Congratulations Kristy and Annette!!! Scenery is wonderful. I was there some years ago just for the day and even just visiting the rim and a little walking down (and up) was fabulous!
Oh my aching knees! Watching you climb down I was remembering my hike into Havsupai canyon years ago. When I got to the bottom I had balloons for knees - and that wasn’t nearly as steep and long. You are intrepid!
“Old people on the loose”. Love it! We will be there in Aug riding Tusayan trail and all the other bike trails we can on our recumbent trikes. As you guys… so much fun
Glad you had a great hike in our canyon. Good to see you enjoyed the hiker/biker campsites on the North Rim. I built those about 15 years ago just for people like you. Your site was on the cover of Backpacker mag years ago. Great hiking both of you.
Hooray! That stretch from Roaring Springs is hard! My sister and I have hiked the length and breadth, making memories to see us through to our seventies. You remind me of those shared adventures with every post of yours. Thank you for sharing the joy.
Love it “old people on the loose” almost spit my wine but one doesn’t do that with wine. Hear ya sisters❤️❤️🥰 Nope on the Grand Canyon, lovely but I am terrified over heights 🥺Another great video, hope you both are feeling better‼️‼️
Oh man oh man oh man!!! That was absolutely amazing 👏 great job Thank you so much for taking me along.. I often think of Lynn and wondering how she is?? Maybe if you all still talk you could let us oldies know how she is? 😊
Gorgeous scenery. That is some strenuous hiking under any conditions but especially if you are under the weather. I hope you both continue to recover🤞🏾
Last year I was supposed to do a rim to rim, but they put us on the Grandview Trail instead, because the North rim was closed due to snow. Turned out to be spectacular, and a trail few people do! But the rim to rim is still on my bucket list... GC is an addicting place.
Darn I wish we would’ve been doing it the same time you all did we were three weeks too early. We would’ve loved to see you.Going up the north rim is tough😳hardest hike for me in the whole canyon
When my husband was still in college back in the late ’70’s, he spent a week in the Grand Canyon. They hiked down to camp by the river, then took different trails every day, finally hiking back out at nighttime on their last day. One of his most cherished memories. I love how your clothing changed so drastically from South rim to Phantom Ranch! Amazing the temperature difference with elevation loss. Congrats on your rim to rim!
Spectacular! And boy, did you luck out with weather! I’ve been concerned it would be HOT when you got there, but cool is a gift, for sure. We hiked rim to river last year (at the ripe ages of 73) and that hike was life changing. When you started down South Kaibab, I teared up both for the breathtaking beauty and with gratefulness we had that extraordinary opportunity. While it’s stunning from the rim, hiking INTO the Canyon is next level!! (And man, are you two are tough!). Thanks for a beautiful and inspiring video.
That was a truly awesome trip. Thank you for the beautiful video. What are some of the difficulties is it the heat or the climbing? Once again the two of you rock❤ Stay safe and enjoy your best life😊
Walking along with you, on my treadmill - I hiked the S. Kaibab, camped at Phantom and back up Bright Angel in February in 1981 with 4 Aussies and 1 Kiwi. The ranch was closed - so no lemonade. It was a full moon, so we did a circle hike at night crossing the 2 bridges then back to the campground. I always wondered what it would be like to travel horizontally in the canyon and spend more time down there. Can you camp at Manzanita? I have not done the North Rim -- but I would like to drive/hike/cycle to it from the north. Thanks for the trek, Happy Trails.
Hi ladies, rim to rim hike! Congrats! You are right that it kicks butt. I hiked the canyon in the '90's on the Bright Angel trail to the bottom and back up (I've mentioned it before, so forgive my repeat). It is indeed an unforgettable experience and all the adjectives that you described, Kristy. You ladies are the epitome of adventure! How long did it take you to get to the bottom? It took us 6 hours down and 9 hours up. Kaibab is faster than the Bright Angel. Super good video!
Wow, what a great episode. Your best yet. Nothing touches the Grand Canyon. I remember when I hiked the South Rim to Phantom Ranch mid May many years ago. Temps at top of South Rim were mid 50s by the time hiked to Phantom Ranch temps were early 90s. Enjoy your videos and be safe. Camping at Indian Garden is also beautiful and Cottonwood campground. AZT is in my future. Do you both use: Thermarest pad AND a separate airbed or just the Thermarest pad for sleeping? I presume both for different reasons?
