Lou, it was wonderful to meet you at my first wonderfest, i hope you enjoy the uss titan model kit i gave you. your an amazing model builder thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk to you.
As a craftsman u know it’s ALWAYS about the journey! The destination not always so much. As you described, the social aspect IS the event. You nailed it IMO and thanks for sharing your journeys. ❤
Lou, i meet you at the show. It was also my first time there, and only went because of your videos. Despite living nearby for the past almost 20 years i never heard about it. It was nice to meet you and thanks for the sticker. Next year i think Im going to try and enter the model comtest.
I have that Titan! Was my very first resin kit. Very few air bubbles, lots to learn about release agents, but once I got that down, so much fun. Looking forward to you building this! I also added a Lower Decks joke and replaced one of the nacelle decals with "USS Another Enterprise".
I'm glad you came away from wonderfest with some awards. We fans feel you should have stole the show, and know the work you do is supreme! Keep on keepin' on my friend! By the way, your "Maria" was great.
Like I said last year, you got robbed. But, when I did get to go last year for first time, one of my thoughts was “How do half of these not get gold? They are incredible!” So, I guess I’m a soft judge. As a simple “civilian” outsider, I can say that every builder on display can hold their heads high and be proud of what they build cuz the rest of us are amazed by your work.
Lou, glad you had a good time at Wonderfest 2024, unfortunately I could not make it this year ... back issues. I met you once and emailed with Phil from his Sprueverse Channel. you both are great! I don't know if you seen the Ron Howard's documentary of "Jim Henson/Idea Man" on Disney Plus. Its quite moving and beautifully done. 🖖
Again, congrats on the awards. All of your entries were fantastic. And it was so good to see you and Phil and Wayne again and to meet Keith a well fit the first time. I bought some of his things as well. I'm so excited for next year already. Met some great people for the first time this year. What a great show, i had a blast.
Great to see you back safely. Judge's picks are often rather unpredictable but well done with your prizes. Glad Keith made it and had a good show. Looking forward to the resumption of normal programming 👍😃
Contests. You never know what the judges want to see, and certain subject matters will make all the difference--not just the execution. It's just how it is. I watched all the Wonderfest videos, and your Maria diorama should have gotten a gold. I saw nothing in that category that was better, IMO. I say this as a pro artist with a long career, who's worked in the fields of comics, action figure packaging, kids books, and RPG illustrations. You do top-notch work, Lou. Talos was indeed gold worthy, but so was that Maria. The judges at least acknowledged it with the silver, but I think that it deserved the gold for sure. A lot of good stuff this year, but I could spot your models in the videos, even if I hadn't seen the episodes that you built them in. Your work stands out from the crowd.
Great to meet you Lou! It was our first Wonderfest (attended with my daughter, we met you by elevator in the Tatooine wing). We did eat in the restaurant and it was like a Twilight Zone episode, kept looking around for Rod Serling... very odd. Hope to be back next year and maybe even enter the model contest.
Lou, thanks for putting your Maria build behind my Gremlin Busters build, now it's in everyone's videos of the show as well. LOL. Your build clearly deserved a Gold in my opinion. See you next year.
I really enjoyed meeting you guys. Thanks for answering any questions I had. Look forward to seeing everyone next year. I want to try to enter something in to the show. It will have to be something small or else I will have to drive there from Houston.
I never get to go to those things. Scale hangar 182 showed video of his trip featuring all of your entries. I don’t get the judges’ reasoning either but hey, getting one of your builds featured in a publication is extra cool, prize or no prize.
Not a bad rundown-- I think you're right about the out-of-place aspect of militaria being there. Maybe it's a case of "who ya know"? Wayne, indeed, did do a fine job with his coverage-- everything one needed to see! Figures, huh. Okay-- I like what you do with them too. That was a very good Talos. Better Concept Shuttle, but that's me. Pity about the attached restaurant and who says, "yes!" to a carpet design like that... at any stage of manufacture. Surely when it was coming off the loom, workers were throwing up and fainting... Looking forward to next week!
It was really nice to meet you in person Lou along with the others I follow on you-tube. Our first time going and we came home with a stash of kits and a cold to boot. Probably from shaking everyone's hands.. Been getting over that for the past few days.
Was able to reach out to Bombshell miniatures to score a set of those Nyborgs! FYI dropped your name in the process. I think they charged me more! LOL jes kidding 😂
Enjoyed watching Wayne's videos from Wonderfest. I don't share my kits even to see if I can get an award for it. I'm just way to competitive. I noticed that your Oblivion droid and others of yours on the @Tested video. Hope you don't mind and I'm sure you've said this in other videos, but I haven't come acrossed it. Who do you believe makes the best inkjet printer water slide decal paper.
@@aztekdummy Hi Lou. I think its used for card making or something.....not sure its intended use but its at any hobby store. It goes on exactly like flocking its just finer. It comes in many colors and can also be painted once applied. Its very popular in car modelling for mimicking the carpets as it is more in scale at 1/24 or 1/25 then normal flocking is
Yeah I feel like they should get some more experienced modelers to do the judging or something, as there appears to be no real rhyme or reason as to how awards are given out there. Speaking of Helios, are you getting their Excelsior/Ent-B as well?
