it's 2 figures for the price of 1 (or 4 for the price of 2 if you count the riders as separate figures) It' the Dewback and Luke on Taun Taun figure sets from Stannarts
Looking good so far! From what I've read, the Empire relies on Dewbacks on Tatooine because speeders tend to break down on desert worlds. Not just the heat, but the sand apparently causes problems with mechanical conveyances as it gets everywhere, gumming up the works. Dewbacks aren't slowed down by heat and sand, so I guess they like to have troopers ride around on them for that reason. How Luke manages to keep his speeder running is beyond me. I guess he's just more accustomed to dealing with the sand and heat than the Empire is. heh.
Fantastic work on the figures… I don’t have a knack for them. Why don’t you make a mask for the grills in the troopers helmet? That would look sharp.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Okay, Lou, your best guess: will there ever be a sandperson on a bantha? That’d be pretty cool, a big, robed mummy with pipes for eyes sitting on a woolly mammoth with no trunk. Other than the fact that it would be big enough to fill a room, that is. Very cool so far!
I can't believe you bent that metal tube already. Okay, fine. The big puzzler is the figure scale difference. What gives? Perhaps it's the man-spreading needed. Both stretches would make Nuryev swoon with wonder. Interesting assembly so far-- and it will all be in the paint job. Excellent progress.
The Aztec Dummy rap! 😂 Also I'm going to have to watch Holy Grail and Squire of Gothos this week. It's handy that you can refer to Phil's build to get a heads-up on the issues with the dewback. I agree that it's inconsistent that a desert creature would evolve green camouflage but i also agree that painting everything in shades of brown would have been boring to do and boring to look at. Oh well, back to my battles with my 1/350 NX-01 😖
That's too bad about the size difference Lou. Maybe showcase them in different areas. Nice work though. That knife is pretty awesome, I may have to try one out myself.
I think what I would do to combat the scale of Luke being off (if you plan to display them together) is have Han displayed higher. The issue that I have with them is the Taun-taun is in the exact same pose. They would look better together if one had a turned head, or looking slightly in a different direction at least.
The Empire tried to hide the atrocities they were doing by mimicking the Sand People. Vader was clear in the beginning to create a cover up. Thus no Imperial equipment is used on Tatooine.
I think the Empire gets undeserved criticism for bringing order to the galaxy as a result of misleading Rebel propaganda. I, for one, welcome our new Sith overlords.😉
