Hey, he helped him get off drugs and he did acknowledge his love in the show. He even understood micheal's love for him when he said I don't care if ryan murdered his entire family, he's like a son to me
Lol, this makes you realise what a great actor BJ Novak is, because he seems like a really sweet guy, but I *hate* that little weasel Ryan with the fire of a thousand Suns.
rls725 I agree. He barely beat out Bob Odenkirk originally for the part. Bob would have been pretty good too cuz you see him play a Michael esque manager in the 9th season that Pam meets. But Carell is Scott
The more I repeat the office the more I notice his facial expressions as well... I could tell when Micheal is gonna do something stupid becuause he wants attention just from Carell's face.
I think it’s awesome that everyone said that the show wasn’t going to do well and everyone was talking shit about it yet they still did the show and it turned out to be one of the best shows in television history...
I think it was Jerry Seinfeld that said never listen to what the audience wants, because most of the time the audience doesn't know what they want either.
Hold on... Not "The best on Television History" The show was amazing, but you can't compare it to Vince Gilligan shows like Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad. Both series that use little things to foreshadow important events, good drama, different points of view, style and lightning style.
Bj Novak did such a great job as Ryan. His portrayal of being an "edgy" douchebag was so on point it was like viewing a work of art. Just his offhanded comments dissenting on society that have no context or substance. "America's a mall!" "Why don't you take a day off from the whole Jim schtick? Try caring about something for once, you might like how it feels... James. *closes door to his office smugly which is basically a small pantry* lmao
Literally everything was missed in the final season. Seasons 8 & 9 were trash. It was almost like a completely different show. I refuse to call any of what happened in those final seasons Office canon, besides the last 2 episodes of S9.
I missed Michael!!! I missed Ryan and Kelly! I missed the old Jim and Pam! I missed the old Andy!! I missed David Wallace (throughout the time he was gone I know he came back) The show went downhill in Seasons 8 and 9. Really after Michael left. Really sad
obviously a show is going to change, probably not for the better, when the lead character leaves... seasons eight and nine were definitely the least of them all, but they still had their moments.
PS: I just finished rewatching the whole series, again. the expanded role of Darryl in the later seasons is one of those bright spots I was talking about.
@@ComedyBros5 i liked s8, but s9 is boring. Andy was insanely annoying, even Jim and Pam were annoying. Way too much screentime for the 2 new guys. But s8 felt like it was trying something new. S9 it felt like they stopped trying
the character Michael is the show and Steve is the perfect man for the job. Without him the show is dull, when he left the series became a very cringey soap opera
I love what he said about people feeling like they have to prove themselves to others by not mentioning the main character of a TV Series when asked who their favorite character is... So true!
“Let me ask you something..How long does it take you to do something simple, everyday, like brush your teeth?” “Idk like 30 seconds” “Oh my goddd... that’s three times as long as it takes me”
Michael Scott is my favorite character and my favorite episode is the Dinner Date episode where Jim, Pam, Andy, and Angela all have dinner with Michael and Jan. "It has sort of an okay afterbirth" lmao.
I Love his comments about Michael Scott and I totally agree. Even though The Office is theoretically an "ensemble cast show" Michael is far and away the best and most important character. Once he was gone, the show was over. The network simply decided to cash cow the show for as long as they could. But, once again, after Steve Carell's departure the show lost almost half of the audience according to Nielsen's ratings
The casting of The Office was impressive, it's hard to choose better actors and I doubt very much that anyone could have bettered any of them. But the truth is that Steve Carrell makes his performance a work of art. Michael Scott, thanks to him and great scriptwriters like Novak, should be recognized as one of the best comic (and also tragic) characters in history.
It had way more time to develop its characters. I'm sure the UK version would've had some nice development as well if it wasn't so short. And they actually branched off and did something original after season 1. I think that helps with the appeal, because if the characters were just carbon copies of their UK equivalents, then americans would catch on and it would ruin the show for them.
@@lukemate2783 except it wasn't lol never liked it tbh :/ that guy was seriously had all the worst things about Michael Scott... he was just plain annoying :/ he literally had no likeable characteristics whatsoever...
He is so right in saying that people often don't say the lead characters as their favorites cause it will be so obvious or it will not show that they are deep into the show.
Tobey is definitely one of the best characters. I feel like only the people who have been lonely really love and understand him, Hands down throughout all the show I was rooting for him to finally find some happiness.
"OK NOW THAT'S IT! I Want everyone in the conference room right NOW! And i dont care if you're straight or gay or lesbian o... or... overweight!" ***points at Phyllis*** **Phyllis sighs***
Favorite episode is where michael promises to pay 3rd grade classes college tuition...and i love mose and when he parks tobys car by driving it straight into the cornfield lol
My favorite line in that episode was Stanley: I’m not disabled and neither are you Michael: oh yea, what does this look like to you Stanley Stanley: Mailboxes etc 😂😂😂😂
Dwight is prob my fav character. For obvious reasons but also because of how he opens with the rest of the characters towards the end of the show. His character development was amazing
Wow Toby is undoubtedly my second favourite character and I am so so happy that BJ Novak thinks so too! He's just so real and so annoyed and fed up it's just so relatable❤
Jan was easily one of my favorite characters; I could laugh so hard at her lines and delivery composted to michaels other love interests😂especially the date night she and Micheal hosted!
I remember Toby giving Pam tips on how to bust Michael in the face and do more damage. And I remember the look of disgust Michael kept giving Toby from behind his back while he was teaching her.
Remember my friend recommended it and as a uk fan I wasnt keen. Watched the first episode and it didnt change my mind. 15 years after sticking with it it's now my favourite tv show of all time. I'm so glad they didnt just copy the uk format because that's what they prety much did in the pilot and it just didnt work
One of my favorite scenes of him is when Dwight and Toby are spying on Darryl. "Hey you asshole! Are you gonna eat that dog food yourself?!" And the way he told Dwight to go.
I really dislike his character in the show, but I swear this man is a gem. Great writer, great performer, seems like he's great company too! And so is Mindy! Both very talented, sweet and smart.
He's right. Toby is such a great character and people do often try to be "deep" with their favorite character choices (though with the Simpsons I would say Moe is my favorite).
I'm from the UK and the original version of The Office was brilliant, but there's just something about the American version I prefer. I actually laugh out loud, Steve Carell is absolutely on the money in it and Dwight is endlessly watchable. Stanley and Andy too. Just a brilliant programme in its own right.
The original version is much more thoughtful and meant to be powerful and striking. The american version just take some of the philosophy and new ideas that original brought to light and makes it more acceptable to the american audience.
I’m glad Steve Carrell did Michael Scott (That’s What She Said) Cause if Steve didn’t do the part we would’ve had Bob Odenkirk and he couldn’t have pulled off the part like Steve could For example The Injury, Michael’s advice to Jim on the Booze Cruise, the Kiss with Jan Bob couldn’t have pulled that off HOWEVER He could’ve pulled off Season 1 Michael and the Dundies
My fav scene Dwight fire drill and everyone is breaking windows and doors trying to escape but Kevin breaks the vending machine glass with a chair 😂 😂 😂
Actually that episode was actually my favorite episode. I remember the first time I watched the office, Michael said don't call Dwight anyone but Dwight. I laughed so hard. Then later on Toby told Michael that Ryan died.
