We assemble a b20 block bottom end for B20vtec set up that comprises of CTR cams, Ported B16 head and Ultra street intake manifold
such a good set up that runs 13.5sec on a 4door
Due to crank snout damage they changed crankshafts and wisely sent us the block and crank for check ups and final assembly, ofcourse this then gets our finishing touches and we discuss about the technical aspect of building or assembling this block, from ring gaps, to plastiguaging to rod bolt stretching
Crank inspection video is here and at the playlist
• B18c TypeR Crankshaft ...
As mentioned on the video on about ring gaps and piston rings itself
a dedicated video is here
• All about piston rings...
Another one we mentioned is also about plastiguage and the benefits of it especially when chanin cranks can be checked here

Awesome video as usual! The cylinder walls looked slightly rough from the video. Would this not affect the build?
@SRDmotorsports
@SRDmotorsports Год назад
Cylinder bore is actually decent, just looked kinda rough after we cleaned it so it was free of oil and such and Ofcourse had to quickly spray wd40 to prevent flash rust It always looks rough after having it cleaned (the old oil always makes it look “okay” ) That’s what makes it hard purchasing used blocks cuz if u pull the head? It “looks” alright until… lol But yes IF honed? Nothing beats that ftw

@SRDmotorsports
@SRDmotorsports Год назад
No not yet but that would be substantially good on the mid range and torque with a bit of top end That’s what I suggest the owners After they max out the CTR cam and eventually beat their currrent 13.5sec time, Pro1 is my next suggestion

@SRDmotorsports
@SRDmotorsports Год назад
@@hox2596 yeah 7:12 is old oil that’s cooked it’s not rust cuz it’s aluminum… That video might be too long and too hard to make cuz it’s too “generalized” to do so.. example if on. PR3 head the “bowl” oft times does not need to go too big = it’s already big So in general the throat is more important here But on a D16 the bowl may be a different story…then if we switch it to another brand like Toyota or Volvo (factor in displacement and piston speed) it goes a little bit different again

@SRDmotorsports 9 месяцев назад
more than that, whatever the stock bore is as long as it’s perfectly round and honed that’s good I see a lot of nonesense locally where they run oversized rings and file it to fit not understanding the whole ring consistency to bore is no longer perfectly round… plus they also added % more added windage loss

Even Jaspers b20vtec on 1Up cuz it’s stock bore we made sure the bore is “true” and round and not oval, has 0.0025” piston to wall.. thats 0.06mm since 2018 it’s been running 12.5s and a street car, the full set up is on the video it’s shared I know some did the exact same set up and made 214whp only and 13.3sec 🤣 must of wanted it the way of the local myth builders
