Hi - thanks for the vid, very helpful. Did you know there is a little thing on the upper section of the hood hinge assmblies (one on each side) that you can rotate - which allows the hood to stand straight up! you will love it, especially when you are wrestling the distributor. It resets when you close the hood. Thanks again for posting the vid.
Hi 'Drifts 'N' Lifts'. What are your thoughts on the IPD VX camshaft? IPD claims a 19% increase in peak horsepower (114 vs 136) over the M camshaft, a flatter torque curve, far quicker reaction to throttle input, none of the roughness over 4000 rpm of the M cam, etc. And all this with little change in fuel economy or idle stability. I have a near mint, stock '90 740GL (B230F, AW70) and am looking for the best cam option to replace the stock M cam. Thanks!
Old news, but LH2.4 + EZK116 systems indeed only use the distributor for firing order and nothing else, there are modification kits to swap out the dizzy ignition for wasted spark.
you forgot to re shim it? how is your clearances now? you "must" go over the clearances and re shim as needed. and you should have used a cam install grease.
Haha koltan I've got that same shirt but it looks like a bleach wash look to it. This cam swap video is great because I want to eventually swap mine on my n/a 940
Hey man you should get the K cam from the GLE the engin spec is B230E and set the timeing to 18 degers more then that can burn the valves but who cares i wing it on the enging sound to get the back fire xD
Hello. I installed a v cam in a b21. Should i change the timing in any way? I have everything installed but it sounds a little lumpy and it dosent burn all the fuel. Dosent sound or smell right. Thank you.
@@eriksimca9409 vx3 is far from the shittiest cam , the m and t cams are far worse but the vx3 is no screamer by any means . Have you seen my NA build ?
Well he didn't do it.. You should. Just measure them when the engine is cold. You can check them all with old cam, then count if you need adjusting, put new adjusting plates on and then the new cam. That way you don't need to buy the 2 Volvo tools required to adjust them while the cam is in place.
Hey, could you help me a little bit. I changed my M cam to Vx3 cam (b200f) and lined all the timing marks. Then span the engine to adjust the valves and after that timing marks don't match at all. Am I right that the marks should stay the same after cam change? Then I lined the marks again (moved the cam 3 teeth) and tried to start the engine but it didn't start. I'm out of ideas now :(
Can you suggest some good b230ft cams? My Volvo 760 turbo has a decent cam sound but it's stock and I want it to be louder at least and maybe even power
your 760 probably has the A-cam, you can try a K-cam from B230E. (130hp in NA engine) the sound is not easy to get because the turbo acts as a silencer. You could try to replace the middle exhaust mufler with a straight pipe.
Fuck trust me after i made the video i was like shit! I forgot to mention lashcaps! All factory cams like t , k , m , a and even an ipd turbo cam that i have swapped in have never changed my valve lash .for an aftermarket cam will generally require lash to be adjusted . My bad
