These build series videos need to continue on the channel! I love being able to watch the continued improvement, and learning about the actual tuning that goes into the car and what difference that tuning then makes on the track. It really makes me feel like I'm learning more about the hobby from a competitive and casual perspective at the same time. 10/10

Here is another tire tip for you! Though the pushing and aggressive steering feels like it's only coming from the front wheels, it's not necessarily doing that. It you look closer at the photos from EOS you can see the drivers cutting off the inner and outer row of their cactus rear tyres. This will help with removing some off the edgyness off the car, add some extra forward grip to the rear tyres and remove some of that aggressive steering. If it's still traction rolling, another tip is to try the cactus fusion front tires(currently EOS-4wd tyres), glue the outer wall and as you mention, maybe cut off the outer row😀

Nice update video Brett, couldn't agree with you more on the tires. On my 22X-4 the only way it's driveable is with worn Wide Stagger Ribs. My B74.1 runs pretty well with the Proline Wedges, but got a set of Schumachers to try next.

Historic reasons, these carpet/astroturf-tracks evolved out of clay/dirt-tracks. Afaik it began in europe because there are less indoor tracks and maintaining carpet outdoors is a lot easier than clay/dirt when it's raining every other day. I'd love to see more clay/dirt tracks all over the world but the difference in upkeep is pretty massive, also takes a lot longer to clean, especially if it rained the day before.

To sand down the front tires, mount the wheel to a power source for example a drill chuck and give it power on top of aggressive grit sand paper. By doing this, they’ll be even and won’t Have some sections that are grippier than others, leading to inconsistency.

Run the Schumacher Cactus Fusion front tires and glue the side walls with CA glue to remove edginess, keep the cactus tites in the rear and cut the inner and outer rows off of them to prevent traction rolling. This is what the majority of the drivers run on EOS If you run the wide staggers, cut every other spike on the outer row to start with. Although, all of these tires sucks in durability, maximum usage is 5-6 batteries before getting completely worn out.

Congrats! The Senton is a fun 4X4 truck that you could definitely race. For upgrades, a stronger servo is always welcome and maybe even a solid metal servo horn (instead of the servo saver horn on there now) for a tighter and more precise steering. Metal driveshafts are a great upgrade over the plastic ones and they'll last a lot longer too. Some people convert the 14mm wheel hexes to the more standard 17mm size for greater tire/wheel compatibility, although i'm not sure how beneficial that will be for a short course truck. You could bash this vehicle, but it would be an extremely expensive basher. But this Serpent RTR might fulfill both roles: www.amainhobbies.com/serpent-spyder-srx2-mm-midmotor-2wd-rtr-1-10-electric-buggy-ser500006/p451190 You might want to consider a Traxxas Bandit: www.amainhobbies.com/traxxas-bandit-vxl-brushless-1-10-rtr-2wd-buggy-green-tra24076-4-grn/p1015242 Hope that gets the gears spinning! -Brett

What's spec class racing? Whats are the differences between spec motors? and non spec motors?
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 3 года назад
A spec class is designed to make the racing more even, so no one has an equipment advantage and superior driving skills are paramount. Most spec class'es enforce this "evenness" with the use of a spec motor, sometimes spec tires are also involved in some events. Spec motors are usually fixed timing, so the racer cannot tweak the motor for an advantage. Hope this explains it Aaron. -Brett

I am looking at getting a new kit to build over Xmas. I will mainly be running on new ESO carpet, then in summer worn out astroturf. I am torn whether to get a new 2wd or a new 4wd I have heard different opinions on which is easier to drive. Do you have any thoughts on this or which way to go? ( I was going to go stadium truck but there is little appetite for that over here)
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 2 года назад
Excellent! For starting out, I recommend a 2WD to keep the responsibilities and cost down, plus 2wd race classes are bigger with more entries and competition (at least in the states). 4WD buggies are one-a-kind, but you have two gearboxes to maintain, two diffs, more driveshafts and outdrives to wear out and replace, and a bigger-tire wear burden. So my advice: keep your re-entry into racing simple this season while you get back into it, and save the 4WD for the skills and confidence next season will bring. -Brett

What's the transponder for? Never used one before?
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 3 года назад
It's used to identify the vehicle on the track to the track timing system. Each time my car passes over the "line," it picks up my transponder and records our lap times. -Brett

Hey Brett great video but can I get that same car built for me like a RTR but without the transmitter I can buy my own transmitter? I built one buggy years ago I just don't have the time anymore.
@AMain_Hobbies

They only come as kits so you'd need to find a builder. We used to help more with custom builds until it nipped us, now we stay away from that. Good luck! -Brett

Can anyone explain to me what a transponder is? I really dont have a clue lol.
@RC-ty5ym

A Transponder counts the time of your laps and sends them to the timing system. Hope it's understandable 🤔
@hinsie4268
@hinsie4268 3 года назад
The little red box in a car that sends your lap times to the computer each time you cross the start/finish line. This system is how the race director tracks whos in 1st 2nd 3rd during a race.

Just as a little correction, the transponder itself is just an active RFID tag that holds a unique identification code. The actual timing is handled entirely by the timing software itself. There's no actual timer on the transponder.

@@VestedUTuber you are correct I was just trying to simplify it for someone who didn't have a clue and probably isn't a racer.

Sadly, I pay more for rc buggy tires than I do for my actual car on a yearly basis since the scumacher tires are so damn expensive and wears out so fast!

yeah a nitro buggy kit build series would be cool, to really compare to the rtr buggy they did in the past.

Hey Ive been loving's these videos and want to get a 1/10 to 1/28 scale drift car. do you have any budget RTR options in stock?
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 3 года назад
Check out the MST RMX 2.0. The RMX 2.0 chassis performs great and is very configurable. For the RTR's, there are probably half dozen different body styles to choose from too. Unfortunately, they are out of stock right now but we should get more soon. www.amainhobbies.com/mst-rmx-2.0-1-10-2wd-brushless-rtr-drift-car-w-nissan-s15-body-silver-mxs-533705s/p731259 -Brett

My main man Brett,from Amain hobbies.Question, What would I need to do in order to turn my Arrma big rock into a buggy street machine.? Thank you in advance.
@AMain_Hobbies
@AMain_Hobbies 3 года назад
Hmm, maybe try lowering the ride height and adding on-road tires. Finding a buggy body to fit may be an issue, unless the Typhon body fits (maybe extra parts needed). -Brett

@@AMain_Hobbies Already done. Ride height is flat and running street tires. Just ran 30 minutes nothing got hot and topped out at 53.

Tire cutting, shaveing, and shapeing... is nothing new in racing. Any race team worth their salt will do this tire redesign artform, it is as much part of vehicle setup as adjusting camber, caster, toe and so on.
