How I miss the 80's. My wife and I really miss the last of the good old days. Our kids say, " Back in the old days you know dad the 80's" I just smile and think back..........................

they are wonderful pictures with the right music. It reminds me of my trips along no.1. It was my carefree time that has been with me to this day. 👍🙋‍♀️👍

Born and raised Sylmar kid. East side of the 210. My Grandpa would pick up my brother and myself and head out to the Saugus swap meet on the weekends and we'd have a blast! My Grandparents had a huge piece of property with an olive grove on it and we would have olive fights until we were covered in purple stains all over our clothes! Anyone who lived in the valley will know about that! We would ride our dirt bikes up into the hills and we'd go camping on the weekends, unlike the kids nowadays we couldn't stand being in the house! That was the cruelest form of punishment known to kids when you would get grounded and had to watch all your friends riding their bikes up and down the street while you just watched out the front windows...oh the agony!!! Those times may have come and gone but the memories still remain. I moved away in the late 80s when I shipped out for the Army but I always remembered where I came from. You can take the kid outta the valley but you'll never take the valley outta the kid!

Grew up in Burbank in the 60's. We rode our bikes Everywhere. We'd ride over and watch em build the Ventura Fwy (Buena Vista St. On/Off ramp). During the summer/weekends you were never home. But you knew when dinner was ready and head home. Then go right out again after dinner to a neighbor's house. Play baseball in the street til 10 pm. If it was really warm at that hour, you'd be invited to go swimming at a buddy's house, walk home at midnight after swimming and think nothing of it. Jeeez. Today between the Karens and the helicopter mom and dads you couldn't do that. Plus today being a 12 year kid weighing close to 200 lbs, walking home wouldn't happen at all.

What’s sad is what a cesspool American cities have become. America was a great place look at it now.

When I grew up in the Valley it was ONLY 213. Today its 818 and 747. My phone number was 213-TH8-1489 You didn't dial 1. "TH" stood for Thornwall. It was a Burbank exchange.
