For real. Once upon a time, I felt like being in a higher tax bracket was a goal. Nothing ostentatious (for now anyway; different goal). Just that middle road between not over 100K but over 50K. Until...the reality of it without dependents came calling year after year lol. Single people get murdered come tax season. So yes, any return...that isn't out of my pocket is a win.
This has to be the total amount she got the clients she worked with for that year. Otherwise she put the bat signal in the sky for the IRS to come investigate.
Over a 100k?👀🚩. I’ve shared this before that a tax preparer encouraged me to lie about my charitable donations & tithes because “the IRS rarely double checks those items”. I pretended that I received a text for an urgent matter & left. That next year she was on the news for tax fraud.
Baby they kept their facade going for years. Had us all fooled while trying to keep up a wealthy looking image. Until everything came crumbling down. 🤦♀️🤦♀️
I recently retired from the IRS.....Criminal Investigation side (where your nightmare begins). No, you don't want to play with them. Like the sign in an office said, all the money is " theIRS."
The bank made a mistake and put someone who was rich rich money in my account. I went directly to the office. I cut the line of people that were waiting they were looking at me like bish. But I had to clear this up quick fast, and in a hurry.
My dumb a## got a letter from IRS , didn't even know you pay taxes on scratch offs. I hurried up and sent that money to them in full.I had never won anything. That was over 15 years ago, aint scratch nothing but my head since then. They don't play. 😢

I recently found the RU-vid channel the Black Excellence Excellist. It provides indepth coverage on Black History, some of it mostly unknown, such as Thomas Fuller the enslaved human calculator!
The IRS play too many games I always think my tax refund check is along the lines of the Shirley Caesar song "You're Next In Line For a Miracle, You Have Kept The Faith Today is Your Day for a Miracle" and what I get is a mixture of Mary J Bliges "I'm Not Gon Cry" and Cee-Lo's F*ck You" it's really unfair 😂

Last year, I was doing my taxes via Turbo Tax, and my predicted refund was twice my salary. I asked for assistance right away. The tax person was also at a loss until we figured it out. There was no way I was going to submit my taxes, knowing it was an error. I don't want smoke from the IRS.
EJ🤣! Once upon a time I worked for the IRS, and baby listen; they have NO sense of humor and are VERY patient, yet ruthless. I had to get outta there! 🤣🤣
TRUE STORY: hubby hired a woman I had not met, yet, to do our taxes. Part way through, he complained he had to redo the forms because she was f-ing them up. He was annoyed. Didn't realize she was trying to get us a big refund. He was mad he'd hired an incompetent and was wasting his time. While she still had our documents (but had not filed), we find out from the news she was charged with tax fraud. 😮 I fired her. Got our original docs back b4 she got locked up. SCARY. That could have been our asses! BUT GOD... phew

I don't want any money back as a refund. That means I'm giving the government an interest free loan. I'd rather put that money in a low fee Vanguard Index fund and let my money make money. A refund check is just the government giving you your money back after letting it lose value for a year. If you are not making interest on your money you are losing money because of inflation. Nowadays you could put that same amount you'd get back from a refund in a high interest savings account and make 3-5% on your money. Y'all when we know better we do better. We have to stop giving the government more than required, then celebrate because they are giving us our own money back. Put your money to work!
One year I told my bootleg tax preparer cousin, to get me back as much as you can...she got me slightly over $5000!...I couldn't believe it! I was happy as all get out!!!...Before the year was out, the IRS hit me for slightly over $5000 with additional slightly over $3000 for the hell of it for the business I didn't know I had because I couldn't produce receipts for said business 😑....now I'm happy as all get out when I break even!

The crazy thing is that the IRS will send you that check for 100,000 dollars only to hit you with a letter that they want it all back 2 years later😩😂😂😂
I'm scared to get that type of money back. I was scared when I got that $4,000 back. Ion play with uncle Sam. He's not fair, but I ain gone cross him. 😂
Okay first, EJ you are a whole funny, hilarious nut!!! 😂😂😂😂😂. Secondly, people are haters who do not know how to mind their business. It is possible to get that much back because everyone's stories and situations are not the same. Just be happy for sis and keep it moving.

You have to be mindful that tax season is a competitive time for preparers. This might get her a flock of business this tax season, but with what repercussion? Ignorance is not a valid excuse in a court of law, but feel free to enter the find out stage and try it. I'm just waiting to say I told you so.
Yes!! My taxes got held up one year because the tax info one of my employers sent in wasn't the same as my W2. The IRS was like your numbers don't match ours. We gonna hold on to your check until you figure it out, lol.
