This was filmed at Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night on April 1st 2023 at PIA Arena MM in Yokohama. I was at this show and it was absolutely epic seeing it live. Japan has a thriving metal scene these days, with female bands really at the forefront, and Babymetal are the pioneers that blazed a trail for Japanese metal to get international recognition.

Welcome to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 Nice Japanese skills, not sure if you already know this amazing group and i don't remember watching any of your reaction but i guess you already now them and I'm glad to see old BM fans and reactors coming back to enjoy more BM songs. This song belongs to latest album The Other One but it wasn't part of the 5 singles released, although it becomes one of fans favorite from this album real fast. The nasty riffs reminds to "Ice Nine Kills - Rainy Day". Maya in Hindu myth is the representation of illusion (which is the theme in this song), so that's the reference. Here's some official info: MAYA (ILLUSION) _Reality is an illusion. The truth may be a deception._ _It is a feeling as if you wandered in between the Real World and the Virtual World. It may be magic, or it may be an illusion._ The Western Kami Band playing this live at PIA Arena MM (April 1st) gives some aggressive flavor that i really like and with MomoMetal now officially as a new member, just so you know this was performed during Black Night (that's why they're wearing the old battle dress from Metal Galaxy era and she ain't got a mic), at the end of this night she was announced as MomoMetal, the night after this (Clear Night) they're wearing the new costume you can see at Mirror Mirror, METALIZM official MV and more recently Divine Attack - Shingeki live version. They've been rotating this song along with Mirror Mirror and Believing during The World Tour 2023/2024. Good first(?) reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Fox hole.🦊 There is no other band quite like BABYMETAL, they not only pioneered their own new sub-genre, they also introduced choreographed dance to metal ... but not dance as you may know it from pop acts etc where it is used to fill the stage and give you scantily clad girls (and boys) to watch to take your mind off the music. BABYMETAL's choreo serves at least two real purposes: * It is interpretive and helps with translating or expressing the meaning of the song or a lyric; * It is designed to lead and involve the crowd. They have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last, they mix and blend many different styles and genres with the metal (and they have songs in virtually every metal genre). Expect the unexpected.

Stephen, was that your first listen to Babymetal? Couldn't quite tell. But great song to start with if it was. This is a fairly recent performance (April 2023). But just for context this band has been around since 2010, with two OG's still rocking-Su, lead vocals and Moa (stage right) scream and dance. So if you choose to dive deeper into this Foxhole-you'll learn-you have real discovries to make. There are amazing videos of the -then-teens rocking the house right up to the present still going strong. There is such a history and lore surrounding Babymetal. And they are legendary for their live performances (perhaps a not to subtle hint as to potentially the best videos to react too). By the way you've got my sub.

Great reaction. Hey you know you could really be a big help to us babymetal fans because you understand the language. Maybe stop whe you hear a good lyric and give us a translation. You start doing that and we long time fans will flock to you. This is a talent that very few people have. You can be a big help to us fans. There are a lot of things that we cant know even with a good translation. Do Metali next. Its a great song but there is so much cultural referenxe that goes over my head in the video. It would be great to have someone explain what the references are. I know there are kabuki references and a lot of festival refernces. The lyrics even translated are mysterious because I have never been and cant speak the language. There are maybe two other people who can do this and it is desperatly needed by us fans. You will see your numbers go up like a rocket because you will give somethi g nobody else can.

Have you seen Prof AJ Hartley's analyses of BABYMETAL's songs, lyrics, visuals etc? He has done a video for every single song - it sounds like you would really appreciate them.

@Grington300 I have seen it but he is about the only other person who does that and I don't always want to sit through an hour lecture to see a reaction video. But yes he does this too and when I do see them they are well done. I just mean take a couple of minutes to fill us in on some trivia, maybe he attended one of the festivals that metali songs about and has seen some people dancing those masks..
