I cannot stop listening to it since days! How could a human being write such music? So divine, so full of beauty, of kindness... Listening to it it is like having wings. Music and Bach... maybe God´s biggest gift to humanity. Tears of joy and thankfulness...

Nor me. I consider myself more of a bowed strings person but the harpsichord playing in this is so exciting.

This gives you an idea of how astounding it must have been to be able to hear Bach improvising at the keyboard.

I really like that you can hear the harpsichord on this, good sound engineering to match the fine performance thank you. and I like Jeanette's attitude about the Tempo, and my favorite part of course is the TRILL at the end of the solo, prominent. Nice ensemble

I loved the way the cello joined in to emphasize the bass line towards the end of the cadenza. I suspect there is no notational support for this (Bach wrote the cadenza for solo harpsichord, AFAIK), but it works very well regardless. A small touch that adds to a wonderful performance.

I love the harpsichord playing. To be heard so clearly at a good volume level, surely it must be amplified.

i really like everything about their performances, except the flute is just not loud enough. i know all the theories about how the trumpet and flute in those days were less loud, but it still spoils the performances for me, or the placing of the microphones, as the flute in lots of videos is getting lost

Nooo, why did you take down the old version of this movement?:( The interpretation is the same (i.e wonderful) but I liked the old one more, it had better angles. I can't see Jeannette's hands very well in this version. The over the shoulder angles are a bit blurry. I beg you to re-upload the old one as well. We don't mind having more of the same.

incredible musicians but too fast - it's harder to play it slower, and bring up harpsichord volume a lot
@psalmtone2008
@psalmtone2008 6 лет назад
Actually it is a bit slower than most tempos I've heard...see Trevor Pinnock or Christopher Hogwood's versions.
@randyopus1
@randyopus1 6 лет назад
It doesn't sound rushed or forced in any way. All of the musicians seem very comfortable at this tempo, and while most things are harder to play slower, this doesn't necessarily make it better. This is just my opinion, of course, but I really like the energy and apparent joy exhibited by the musicians during this performance - it really draws one in.

Too much rubato in the keyboardist. Very frustrating and hard to listen to. Otherwise, great sound!
