In this video I will show you some tricks to target back bay Fluke / Flounder using nothing but gulp and jigs.
I had a small 2 hour window to get this video footage before I had to run back home. I was using a Daiwa Ballistic LT 2500 with 15# J-Braid. I used both Spro and Asgard jigs on this trip. Hope ya all enjoy and please comment and subscribe

Nice fishing! Growing up in East Rockaway during the late '70s and early '80s You just brought back memories of that whole area. In the winter we used to catch flounder in Swift Creek on blood worm right next to there. Now I got to go dust off my flute rod. Just subscribed. Good luck

I use to anchor in the deep for winter flounder where you caught your first fluke on the East end of little swift. The East - West run in Pearsol's always had action with smaller fluke just South of that. Nice Video.

CAPT JOHN SMITH thank you. Yeah flounder are tough to come by. We used to have a great little fishery in our bay for flounder.

I find the water temps in the bay too warm during this time . Usually I'll have more success in and around inlets especially towards the end of the incoming tide and beginning of the outgoing .

The guy that made the jig is John Boggio out of Lindenhurst, New York. The bucktail box container you can get from Spro online.

Capt Joey what container are you using to store your Gulp in? And most importantly is it leak proof?
@FishingLongIsland
@FishingLongIsland 3 года назад
J Schultz Spro makes that container and it has a locking top and so far I have not had any issues with leaking. Just make sure you twist it tight till that lock clicks in

Joe... a few things about the Gulp.. Yes there are some batches that are very soft,,and I have some that are decent.. When I run into very soft Gulp, I take out a couple of pieces and lay them on a towel,fold the towel over on it and press moderately. This soaks up excess juice and sucks a bit out..then I leave the Gulp in the sunlight for maybe 20 mins or so.. This really helps a lot,they do not fall apart when I do this..definitely firms them up..I have gotten up to 6 fish using this method. By the way,,what do you get to take one guy out for Fluke in the back bay?
@FishingLongIsland
@FishingLongIsland 5 лет назад
That is awesome I am going to try that. Thank you for the tip on the gulp. Inbox me on Facebook or IG

Have you tried stink bait yet,I hear it's tougher then gulp That first fish was a "FLUKE"
@FishingLongIsland
@FishingLongIsland 5 лет назад
GEORGE K I have used it in the ocean with bigger jigs. The stink is a much bigger bait. I was using the smaller grubs here.
