Great to see you back doing some videos. It was a great time at VAMM glad to have met in person. Tail is technical riding for sure, The Back is a great road in its own right. It surprises me that more people haven’t discovered the area yet. So many great roads in close proximity of each other.
I have done Deal Gap US129 over 250 times and Back of the dragon over 50 times. I try not to compare any roads because I like doing a variety of twisties on a trip I love the whole South east to ride my FJR TN,NC,GA,VA, an WVA. Deal Gap is very compact and you need to watch out for the newbies who can't ride curves. i prefer less crowded roads now. So i avoid the rallys of any kind. Glad to see your back. Mike i am building a house in east Tn and will be there by next year. So i can ride the great back roads anytime. Hope to bump into you someday
That is awesome. If all my family were not here in Memphis, we have thought hard about moving to East TN ourselves. It is so beautiful up there. You are right. Really hard to compare roads. It is like a Buffet up there. Sometimes I want fried fish and sometimes I’ll take a slice of pizza off the buffet..but most of it is great!
Yes it is. I think it provides a nice base camp for a good 2 days, then start working your way to Bristol to the Snake and on into NC. could easily burn up a whole week of great riding!
Living in Jonesborough TN the tail of dragon and back of the dragon are a good day trip for me. The snake is 45 minutes away. Now if this rotator cuff will heal from surgery I may make it to them this year. Glad to see a video from you.

Back of the Dragon, Tail of the Dragon, I gotta get over there and try them both! Over here in Missouri we don't have as many nice roads :( We have the Ozarks, and Arkansas has great roads and isn't too far, but still I gotta head that way!
Hi Mike how you doing hope you had a good New Year and everything else after watching your video on back of the dragon I have got family living up out of jonesville Virginia which is about an hour South Southwest of their well I'm going to we're going back up next summer do some stuff up and Maggie that we're going to go on up and see the kids up there and Virginia hopefully going to ride the back of the dragon to some of those other areas you've talked about
I prefer the Back over the Tail. The Tail is fun but the Back is just a better, longer, less congested, much more scenic ride. Both are great roads to ride though!
Hey Mike! Thanks for your thoughts on VAMM22! Looks like there certainly is some nice riding in the area. TennRides, GloChix and I met in Bell Buckle the other day and rode to Fall Creek Falls State Park. We took all back roads to McMinnville and then TN30 to the park. It’s always a great ride and like the Dragon, TN30 is just a little longer and less curves. But, hardly any traffic! I hope to go to VAMM23! It was great meeting you on the Tail of the Dragon last October! Ride safe brother!
@@MemphisMike901 …. Yes, Bell Buckle is a small community located not too far from Jack Daniel’s. There’s a nice cafe and a coffee shop and a couple other stores on the short old store front. It’s in Bedford County. Even has a post office and a gas station! Lol…. It’s famous for Webb School, a private, college prep school that’s been there since the late 1800’s! Glad you rode up to VAMM22! I wish I had gone. Hopefully next year!
I have nothing on my Calendar at the moment. Wife had surgery a week ago, so i am playing everything by ear right now. Well in fact, since I’ve retired i pretty much do everything by ear now. LoL

Mike you did a video of a while back on how to pack your goldwing without using a trailer I would like to see it again can you send me an email to your address I can't seem to find where to contact you without going to one of your add a comment sections I know little weird on that but yeah I like to see some information by the way coming up in July in Cherokee North Carolina is thunder in the Smokies we're going to be there for a week showing up on the 30th of June it's the first weekend in July
