I lost over 110 lbs before I retired last December. I had high blood pressure and felt bad. I now walk almost every day 4 miles. I have a pretty good retirement but most of it is invested and have a money manager that doesn’t want to spend it. Got a part time job and my wife makes a good living so we are good.
I LOVE heating these kinds of stories. We are well invested also and have a Financial Advisor, however we still live frugal😅 he jokingly MADE us take a trip a year ago and said “i promise you will NoT miss the $$”. 😂. He was right. 110 lbs is significant. Congratulations to you. I think id like to drop maybe 10 more myself. Who knows may e we will work up to 4 miles a day. Seems right now we average about 20-22 minute miles walking. Thanks for the comment.
You’re saying exactly what I’ve believed in for years. Sometimes it’s too easy to let one’s self go down hill, especially when you retire. You got to stay active. Keep going!
That’s what I’m talking about. Paying it forward! Words of Wisdom!! Inspiring by doing. Walk the talk. So true my brother. You are so on point! Blessings to you & Fam!! Woohoo! Each day! One step at time. Use your Smart phone to track and log it. Well done! Lotsa love from Texas!
Well said! That's why the wife goes along. LOL. She has the Apple watch. Did not realize tho, soon as i was getting done walking, Momma pulled into same place and did the same walk!
True that brother. Been on both sides. Healthy is much better. If you don't have your health, money is meaningless. Love the new content. Keep it coming g.
Great topic. I’ve been retired now for 6 weeks and I walk about 30 minutes every day at a pretty brisk pace and have started working out some. At 66 yrs old my “workouts” probably wouldn’t break a sweat with a younger guy, but they are good for me. Just trying to keep the weight and flexibility in tact so I can enjoy my retirement and my mini-fortune. Stay well my friend.
Good stuff! That's great man. As a friend told me once, "Little bit of something is better than a whole lot of NOTHING! Congratulations on retirement. What did you retire from doing?
This message is motivating to me. My A1C is also creeping up back above 7 so I need to do better. I still have a couple more years of work before retirement and want to be as healthy as I can to enjoy it.
I am disgusted with myself. Mine is at 8.4. I have had it down to 5.5. I can do it again hopefully. Take care if yourself so you can enjoy retirement. Strangely, i have not felt any different honestly. Time to cut the carbs once again! Thanks for commenting.
I’ve been retired since the end of 2020. In most respects, one of the best things I ever did. I enjoy walking and usually walk about 3-4 miles a day. Stay safe out there Mike and thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic.
@@MemphisMike901 ….. Usually, I walk a least an hour to an hour and a half. Sometimes more. Now, I don’t even notice the time it takes. I enjoy it and my dog does too if he comes along with me.
Good for you Mike.Going on 3 years now in retirement.I got a job at Walmart to keep busy, they are very flexible with hours.I’ll be 70 in April and still want to ride the Spyder.Goldwing rider since 1979 mind you.Anyway running around the store does me lots of good and not about the money for me it’s for health brother.Take care from Colorado.
I off/on consider sometimes a PT job if nothing else to be around more folks sometimes. I think my wife and I are still in the honeymoon phase of retirement tho. I think it is key to keep moving tho, which is something we do. Safe riding to you this year!
I will be in Bike tomorrow(thursday) going to be nice again. Would have ridden today but had Bass guitar lesson and had to wait at home ALL DAY AFTERWARDS for a big delivery for my son!
Couldn’t agree more! As long as I’m very strict in what I eat I can keep my sugar in check but it’s hard to stay on track. The weather isn’t great here in northern indiana so staying active is hard as well
Man, I KNOW how to get it down is what is so sad.. 10 yrs ago my A1C was discovered to be 9.6. I worked hard and got it down to 5.5 with minimal meds......however, I have shot back to 8.4. My Doc told me I need to see and Endo and get it back under control!
Ever since I started working in High School, I always had active blue collar work that keeps me very active. I never thought I could be satisfied anyway else. Than the rona lockdowns, and I realized how lazy and fat I can get. I'm 45 so I have quite a ways yet but one concern I have when I retire and no longer have any responsibility or necessity pushing me.
That will need to be decided before you retire or you may find yourself bored and in a mess. We stay on the go doing something ALL the time it seems like! Hang in there. You got a ways to go but will be here before you know it😊
Still riding. Just taking a different approach with youtube right now. Kind of talked about that previous 2 vids. When weather gets nice maybe will cut a vid or 2 from bike. Honestly it takes so long for a 6 minute video to cut and edit. If i had cut this video on bike i would have spent 3-4hrs on it. I got 30mins in this!
