9:19 Thanks for the mention Alex and welcome back! 🎉 I’m sure you will going to enjoy my genre blend wide ride, cos it kida short and fast paced. But, it’s not even close for a transformers thing (oh god) just call it ‘cyber leviathan’ or ‘mech creature’ for now 😅 Cheers!
Not gonna lie, I got a very big smile on my face when I saw this notification pop up on my phone!! Good to have you back, Alex 🤩 Love to hear that you've just been enjoying so many other hobbies while you were away, DMing sounds so much fun. Feel free to upload as sporadically as you want, no pressure. We'll be here to support you whenever you feel like sharing anything! ;)
Welcome back, Alex! Sounds like you've been having fun with D&D, especially if you've gone all the way to becoming a DM. I too only read the Witcher short story collections and still haven't dived into the novels, but I hope to get there someday, and I also have a ton of self-published fantasy to read. Best wishes for your reads!
Omg- a huge welcome back Alex- I was literally just thinking today that I have missed your videos and content- talk about spooky... I'm so glad you are enjoying D&D.
Love to see you back at it, and now that I have my own channel I have a whole new level of respect for just the pure time and effort it takes to film and release even the most lightly edited videos. That’s so cool that your DMing, and those guide books look siiiick. I just read and enjoyed Frugal Wizard, so I hope that one works for you too!
I hope I enjoy it too! I feel like as long as you're enjoying spending the time on the channel then it will continue to do well. I sort of lost the passion for it for a bit but I'm excited to get back into it.
Welcome back! Hope you continue enjoying DMing for D&D. I'm all for reading books at a pace that matches the reader's lifestyle and enjoyment level. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the final The Dark Tower book!
Welcome back! Frugal Wizard's Handbook is the only Secret Project thats not cosmere related. I put off reading it until a few days ago and am about 1/4 into it. It's interesting so far.
This video popped up in my recommended list and I'm glad it did. Reading is important; however, it's important to take breaks as well. Getting into D&D sounds like a really good way to expand your social horizons. I play a lot of TCGS outside of my reading hobby I also draw as well. Reading to me is a relaxing journey to get lost in. Just keep in mind it's important to rest and to take breaks when needed. A story is supposed to be enjoyed and entertaining. 😊❤📚
Nice to see you back. Life happens. It's ok to take a break. I feel it's a task if you're not into something you used to enjoy for the moment. I'm like that, too. I'm also a mood reader.
@alexnieves I totally understand that my life has been busy since I last made videos. Kids, life, jobs. It took over. I may also come back to making videos next year, hopefully.I have a lot of book stuff I want to show and talk on the books I have since read.
Great to have you back! I’ve missed your videos and those bookshelves even though I do go back to your Dresden Files videos every time I finish the next installment. I have also been wanting to get back into D&D but my reading wants have been getting in the way. Beginning the midway point in Malazan and having both Wheel of Time & The Realm of the Elderlings waiting for me on my bookshelves has made it difficult to get started. Why? Because if I don’t DM, my friends won’t and being Dungeon Master takes time and planning as you well know. Anyways, glad that you are back and all is well.🤓
I know … I just felt that I would feel left out of the loop if I don’t read them and my favorite book tubers did a great job selling me on those books. But, I do need to make the time to get back into D&D. I can’t read Malazan and not think of D&D. Did you watch the D&D movie? I loved the D&D cartoon characters cameo in it.
Welcome back, I found out about booktube and started making my own videos right before you took your break. I wanna start the dark tower but I hear I should read salems lot first?
Welcome to booktube! You honestly don't need to read anything but the DT books but Salem's Lot is a fantastic book and where I started with King. It definitely ties into the series but not until much later.
I’ve gotten into ttrpgs as well. Unfortunately don’t have any friends into it so I’ve been playing on different discord servers. Those ttrpgs books are soooo expensive but so beautiful
Hope things are going well with DMing! Collaborative storytelling is such a unique and rewarding experience. Been playing and running various games for many years now, and I have so many more campaign and character ideas for the future! Are you running a specific module? There are some pretty great ones.
It's been really awesome and the collaborative storytelling aspect is so fun. Since my buddies and I have never played before I'm running The Dragons of Stormwreck Isle but I've found plenty of spots throughout the campaign to tweak and add my own flavor to it. It's been awesome and has me pretty pumped to create my own campaigns. Do you find it easier to create campaigns since you're already a writer? I assume that it would but it's probably still a different mindset you have to get into.
@@alexnieves Nice! Yeah, modules are a great way to familiarize yourself with the system and start branching out into original stuff. I don't really know if "easier" is the word, though it does flex adjacent brain muscles. I think the hardest bit for me has been the actual gameplay aspects, but I do think running games (and even just playing and exploring a single character at a time) have helped to make me a better writer. We can but hope!
Welcome back! I agree about Song of Susannah. I got through that one as quickly as I possibly could do I could move on. I’m waiting for the Lonesome Crown audiobook to release.
