Back Together Again | Urine as a Home Remedy | VLOG

It's been a while since a VLOG our day together. We're back at, this time on a Friday! After breakfast, we headed out to get some chores done on the Homestead. Rachel worked on putting some of her garden beds to bed for the winter, by using push mower and harvesting cut grass and leaves. She also spent some time putting weeds around the edges of the garden. Today spent most of his time removing a stump from one of the pine trees we recently lost in a wind storm.
Bonus Story: Rachel didn't sleep much at all the night before. She had processed 1/2 a bushel of hot peppers, and her hands were on FIRE BURNING all night long. We tried every remedy we could think of, from Corn Starch, Rubbing Alcohol, Baking Soda, Soap, etc. Finally, around 3:00am she had to go to the bathroom and decided she would try peeing on her hands - I mean, it works for Jellyfish stings right? Low and behold - it actually worked! The burning pretty much stopped immediately. Remember, always stay hydrated, you'll never know whey you might to pee on something.
Thanks for watching and if you haven't subscribed, hit that button to stay in touch with us!

Most people forget urine is sterile, and yes I have also peed on myself. Got stung by jellyfish. It was the ONLY thing that stopped the pain.

Urine also works great for ear aches. And if you have a little baby with an ear ache, the mother's urine works wonders. Just use a dropper to put a few drops of body-temperature urine in the ear that is aching and it works amazingly.

I was late to your channel so I watch older videos from time to time. Although I am sorry for you that you were in pain, the way you told the story was hysterical! Reminded me of Joey on Friends, if you ever saw that episode. Also you talking to yourself is familiar! The weeding analogy was interesting .. reminded me of a song by the Roaches I think. If I remember the title was "You're Being Weeded". So this video was like a trip down memory lane!

Oh the pain! I did that one time and it's excruciating. I recently pulled on some disposable latex gloves to process this years jalapenos - later on the 2 or 3 fingertips I used the most began burning. Those pepper oils can work their way through and burn you so doubling up your gloves may save your fingers. I also heard vinegar can help neutralize but I think that depends on the severity.

I have burned my hands once with bleach sink cleaner and once with peppers. I knew about the peppers and had worn nitrile gloves, but I had to do a second batch of peppers the next day and wore the same gloves. Oh, Wow! Don’t do that as the oil from the peppers must have seeped through the gloves. After awhile I began to feel the burn. Ugh! I tried everything including yogurt and ice packs. I can’t remember what I finally used or if it wore off, but never reuse the gloves. So much for being frugal. I developed contact dermatitis on my hands last year and still battling it. Sometimes I think the pepper burn wasn’t as bad.

Here's what we do in New Mexico to preserve chile. Peppers are really called chile. Roast them, then lay them on a cookie sheet with the skin ON. Freeze overnight. Next day put in zip lock bags. When you want to use some chilies, take out the amount you want. Run one at a time under warm to hot water, while peeling. Comes off so easy. THEN wash your hands. Lay each chile on a cutting board, cut it open and remove the seeds, stem, AND the veins ( that's the hottest part) chop if desired or fill with cheese sticks, batter LIGHTLY and fry for chile rellenos. Enjoy

I prepped peppers in a restaurant and had the same thing happen, grabbed the ketchup out of the fridge and soaked in a bowl, all better.

Peppers burnt my hands, I kept them in cold water till early morning. , it kept the heat off. I plan to be wiser and wear gloves next time. I know the feeling and if I had thought of peeing I would of!!

Find about 6-8 plantain leaves. Chew them up into a green wad, and put it on the sting spot.

Fires are good for warming you but if it's a chore for consuming organic material, using it differently can become an asset. HugelKultur is a great way to create raised beds that slowly decompose while increasing the square footage of grow space on your property...working like the beaver on dry land.

I've never heard about the P solution before . I'll keep it in mind. Of course I already know about peppers and rubber gloves. Even bell peppers can cause a problem if you handle enough of them. They have the same stuff in them. By the way , did you know that the casein ( spelling ? ) in the peppers is also used medicinally as a pain reliever ?
