A great looking bag of solid construction. A bag with so much potential, unfortunately some things hold this bag back.

Good review dude. I was having issues with the back panel as well and figured out that you can remove it by folding it in half length ways and it'll come out with some persuasion. There will be minor bend marks but they flatten out over a day but I added a Tom Bihn frame sheet to mine which increased the comfort dramatically.

Patrick Barnicle which size frame sheet from Tom bihn did you use? Sounds interesting

@@oscar6755 I just measured the back panel, its 40cm so the Synapse 19 would fit. www.tombihn.com/products/synapse-19-25-internal-frame?variant=125589454855

hows the bag feel without the frame sheet in it?
@magee26
@magee26 3 года назад
@@aptoolkit9998 I just took it out. Honestly it wasn't difficult at all, done in 30 seconds. Just peeled/rolled down the left top corner first, popped it out of the Velcro. Then did the same to the top right. Then kinda rolled it into a tube and slid it out. I reckon it won't be hard to get back in, just reverse. I did this without creasing or damaging the panel either.

I’ve considered this bag since it was similar to my Arc’teryx Mantis 26l but I think I’ll stick with my Mantis since it has very similar features except the Mantis is actually a clam shell opening.

I just got one of these as well and I don't like the straps or the way it carries either. I don't like how it forces you to carry the bag high on your back, I'm 6'3 and I feel like a toddler going to my first day of kindergarten. The straps are too short to wear it lower otherwise the webbing will rub under your armpits and then as you said, the back panel won't let it form to your back. I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger and I think I wanted to believe the hype instead of trusting my instincts. Don't get me wrong, the bag is superbly made with top materials and a lot of design effort has gone into it, but I guess its just not for me. A couple of smaller pockets/sleeves internally for organisation wouldn't have gone astray and some different padding on the back to aid with ventilation to stop sweaty backs would be nice. I guess though because the bag sits so high it avoids lower back sweat... For those who own it, does the bags loosen up with time and become more comfortable..?

Strongly agree. Otherwise it would be a killer bag!

Same her got it and returned it.. bag is basically so high it’s on neck. I was trying to like it. Sticking with them synapse 19 even though I feel it’s a little short

I'd love a cross between this bag and the Able Carry Daily Backpack. Able Carry looks very good value, think I might get it. Fuck it, done

I do really hate how it digs into my lower bag. Main reason I never use mine.

I know I am late to this video. Thank you. I thought I was nuts. The pack digs into my back too, making it very uncomfortable. I was hoping I could remove the frame sheet or put in another one (I would have no idea how). Nope. I can't even get my hand in to add some foam. I thought it would be a good fit as the bag is 18" in length, and should fit my 17" torso, but it's either too long or the bottom is too rigid. It actually bows out on me. If you found a hack, please let me know (I see one below). I love the aesthetics of their bags but it's not meant for staring at, it's meant for wearing as my back keeps trying to tell me.

Thanks for watching, I tend to agree with you on this one. Unfortunately removing the frame sheet makes it a little more comfortable however doesn't solve the issue of it riding high

Blackout GA-2100 and a black Evergoods bag, not a bad combo ;) Also bummer that the framesheet isn't replaceable (also kind of weird since it has velcro?), I took mine out the CPL24 and I like it a bit better. Was seriously considering the CHZ, but the limited main opening and quick access blocking laptop compartment killed it for me (not to mention shipping costs on the EG website to Australia-oh man)

Check out Huckberry, their Int'l shipping is about $10. They add GST but still cheaper than EG

Would you ever try to take out the frame sheet and see if that enhances the comfort of the bag?

I've considered it, however I'd ruin it if I was to sell it later down the track.

Yeah, fair enough. Also, which other bags would you recommend with this aesthetic? (Not overly boxy, relatively simple exterior like the gr1)

@@etagged recycledfirefighter.com/collections/tough-and-usa-made-bags-by-recycled-firefighter/products/24-hour-backpack so far this one I personally use everyday. I think the CPL24 is better than the CHZ22 also. Cant go wrong with the GR1 if your wallet permits!

@@stevengarcia8428 The recycled firefighter 24hr is in my opinion a better all rounder if you dont mind the boxy look of it. It's more rugged, comfortable, easier access and simple organisation inside, keeps its shape. It's better if you add a sternum strap to it also. Currently I'm using the Bellroy Lite backpack everyday which the weight, size and comfort not to mention cost outweighs the CHZ22. Sorry for the late reply
