Mid March 2021, myself and a few friends hiked down the Hermit Trail to Hermit Rapids in the Grand Canyon. A snowy start leads to a beautiful finish in one of the most majestic places on Earth! Follow us on our adventure!
I hiked hermits trail in 1974. Almost died. I Got heat exhaustion and double pneumonia. By the time we reached the Colorado River at Hermit Rapids. And made our campsite. I told my friend I couldn’t hike back up. So he went for help. After three days by myself when my friend hiked back up Hermits Trail by himself. I Got airlifted out by the Rangers by helicopter saved my life. This video brought back all the memories. Of my adventure when I was 16 years old. Thank you for this video! Aloha
Very cool. I’m hiking out of a whitewater trip at Hermit in November and this is reminding me to bring additional traction/crampons for the top few miles.
Great video ! I always wanted to do this trail in winter, I did hermit-tonto-bright angel loop (4 days) back in 2014. Dig the serenity due to lack of many hikers, we fell asleep at hermit rapids on the beach lol.
Thank you! I loved to serenity of this one. The rafters were on shore when we got to the rapids but after that we didn’t see anyone else until we were hiking out the next day. It was amazing!
Thanks for sharing! What time did you start at Hermits rest? How long did it take you to get down to Hermit Rapids on day 1and how long from Hermit Rapids to the top day 2? I am looking to do Granite Rapids night 1 and Hermit Creek night 2. Thanks!
