I started doing this loop around 1954 as part of a Boy Scout troop hike. I did it again maybe four more times before I went off to college in 1964. In my time, the trails were not groomed as now, no plank sidewalks to cover the swampy sections of trail. That trip rained for the first two days, pretty miserable, considering that we didn't have the high-tech clothing, tents and gas powered cooking gear of today. But, wet or not, we loved it. On one trip, we started here and hiked down the beach 15 miles to the next developed park beach. Most were not the broad sand beaches you see here, but rocky with golf ball sized gravel piled up on 5 - 10 degree slopes, Terrible walking conditions, but a memorable trip still. If you take this little trip, be warned that there is no drinkable water on the trials and almost none at the beach heads. Take very high quality water filter systems and boil it anyway.

Did this hike several years ago, and it's pretty special. Love your content, and love that your family is such a big part of it. Keep it up.

It is such a special hike, and fairly unique in such a compact length hike.
