This channel is primarily my short films of fly fishing trips I do around the world. Plus a few film making tutorials on things I've learned in hopes to help others enjoy and improve their own filmmaking craft. Enjoy - Mark
Great music selection 👍 really enjoyed that. Also good to see how a 5 day float would go with kids. My 4 year old isnt ready but my 16 year old would enjoy and my 9 year old. Looked like the girls loved it. Thanks for sharing
Went to lake 4 about 10 years ago during 4th of july... Wait like 15 years ago!? It was amazing and we caught a grea number of pike, and stumbled on some tasty perch. Im guessing your fishing was rough due to cold front? But still looked fun. We also encountered strong wind on lake 4 and had to power paddle across it.
Hi! I just saw your comment on Geeky Nerdy Techy's RU-vid video where he compared the G9ii with the Sony FX30. So was in the same opinion of yours! I come from the GH5 and I'm looking to get a second camera. This will maybe the G9ii or GH7. Both cameras has the same sensor ;). What I love from my GH5 is the compatibility with the Panasonic Image App that allows me to monitor myself trough wifi on my iPhone or Android. That's pretty cool! Can you still do that with the G9ii? It's really a great app. I can switch my GH5 to manual focus for instance and still be able to pull focus with my phone. Waiting for your response, Subscribed :)
@@TheFlyFishingFilmmaker Hey 😃 Oh yes there are new updates about the camera and I'm talking about that in my channel as well :) All my content on RU-vid is still made with a GH5. Gorgeous camera still! I love the work you're doing and that I get to see some footage of the G9ii. Side by side the GH7 nature profile and the G9ii looks identical by the way!
@TheFlyFishingFilmmaker ah okay. I feel like the plastic lenses don't last long. I tried a telesin dome and it scratched so easy, even when I babied it.
@@ryanfishydays Mine has held up pretty well with only micro scratches. Which they say you can polish out. For the most part I just avoid shooting directly into the sun.
Awesome review man! There's not enough in depth reviews on the kodiak so I truly appreciate you taking the time to make a quality review, especially one after owning it for a while. How is the kodiak on flat water/lakes? I'm sure it's slow and requires a lot of paddling, but does it seem bogged down to the point where you're breaking a sweat just to move at all? I've been on the fence between the kodiak and the clearwater (which you actually mentioned a few times, which was awesome). Have you had any experience with the clearwater, or have any thoughts between the two? I'd love to hear your thoughts and would appreciate any feedback! Thanks again for a great video/review on the kodiak man!
The kodiak and grizzly are actually pretty good on still water, I find that using fins is pretty easy, and you move pretty well with it. One thing I have found is that there is a sweet spot between power and speed, and if you start to over power the boat it actually doesn't go as fast. I haven't actually used my buddies clearwater on stillwater, so I can't comment. But I would guess with the longer line and rocker, it'll be a faster boat on still water. The downside IMO is if you are running boulder gardens in a river, the longer line can make it harder in some situations to weave through rocks ... but again I think these are just little downsides to each, and both actually perform great in both applications. Maybe one day we'll do a swap and I can do a comparison video.
Great video and review! Thanks. How is the durability of the raft components themselves? Abrasions? Rocks?! Branches? The fear is at some point, you're always patching and gluing and chasing small pin hole leaks or a torn this or a worn that! As a solo fisherman - mostly - I'm wondering if I shouldn't just get a small jon boat as I don't always have someone to shuttle a rig, etc... Mostly on small reservoirs or a river with plenty of access to the boat launch I launched from. Thanks and have a great weekend!!
The durability has been great so far. I do this trip every year that is really low water and there is lots of dragging and bumping rocks. The boat has done great. I think some of it comes from your skills on the oars, but if you aren’t doing anything crazy the boat will last a really long time. Jon boats seem great for stillwaters, but rivers I do, you wouldn’t want a jon boat. But again comes down to types of rivers you do.
Caught my first stock tiger trout this year in a "river" more like a large stream. 2.2 lbs. You might want to consider keeping it if you catch another one for eating, since they can't reproduce, unfortunately that big guy can't spread his genes :(

For the polarized stuff what product did you end up using?
Oh nice, I didn't know you get 300p by disabling synchro scan. I thought you always had to change the camera refresh rate from pal to ntsc to get that 300p. Also a tip for people, if you use the setting, just map it to one of the custom modes and you have it ready without need to go to slow & quick -settings.
Thanks, but although I was able to update the body firmware to v2.1, when I tried that for three of my Lumix/Leica lenses, it said "File for firmware update cannot be found" (all three of the *.lin files are in the root of the same SD card where I had the G9M2 firmware update file).
@@TheFlyFishingFilmmaker The initial problem was that apparently, you can only have one *.lin file in the root of the SD card to update that specific lens. The weird thing is that I tried that and initially it stalled, but IIRC, I changed to another lens and it updated, followed by a second (also successful), and when I tried again with the first lens, this time it worked. Interestingly, the procedure is different depending on the body (G9 v. G9M2).
You would think they would get more water into that system for those fish to spawn and open up locations for them to reach in that creek . I think about so much that could be done to better that fisheries for the long term of generation.
@TheFlyFishingFilmmaker yeah Nevada has its drawbacks . Is seen fry and larger fish in other small creeks areas that have water year round. Out in nowhere.
Hilarious that this is even a concern. Maybe people will make the content they want to, regardless of any social expectation or interference. Maybe the audience they are targeting is the same audience that attends fishing film festivals.
That is so accurate! Great video Mark. Dan came to the conclusion a couple of weeks ago that steelhead don’t exist, and swore that he was never going to fish for them ever again……. Guess who is going steelheading next week? 😂
