I actually laughed out loud when “ANKLE!” appeared on the screen. Thank you for bringing the levity in addition to the best golf content out there. Best wishes!
I had a lesson from a pro in about April who got me trying to hit to the right needless to say I have had the worse golf season ever. You sir have now given me hope for next season.
Amen Ricky; please please check out more of my content, I promise you it will get you back on the road to recovery. Any questions, please do ask Sir. Best wishes Stu 😊
I’m an 82 year old I have good flex ability in mid body not so much in the hands And wrist I cup at the top of backswing I’m trying this and it works.so far. Thanks so much and take care of that back!
YES!! This is good golf coaching!!😀 But why on earth does no-one else teach it like you? Do you know anybody from your golf-coaching fellows who has the same understanding of the golf-swing? Where from do you have your knowledge?? I'm really wondering why the so called garbage is so much common amongst coaches? I'm following your content for about 10 weeks now and have made a huge progress! Thank you Stuart! Yours truly Markus
Markus, thank you so much for your kind words my friend. I am not familiar of anyone coaching the way I do. Really appreciate your kind words and long may your golf continues to improve! Best wishes Stu
I was skeptical about this when I first watched it, but I tried it (in the backyard, with whiffle balls, but still), and it worked. Somehow this feel, together with some mostly left hand broom swings, really helped me get a feel down. Suddenly what Pete Cowen said when he talks about "getting the force (gravity) into a position where it's USEFUL to us" made so much more sense (I know, don't mix swing coaches/feels, but that idea was what came to me as I was doing this drill). For me the feel is mostly a pull like the butt of the club is coming around toward and rotating around my left hip (feel isn't always real, but that's what it felt like for me), and delivered some great rotation and crisp strikes.
I was performing this drill yesterday based on your some of your other videos. I did not know what I was doing besides lay the club down push the handle out , push the hande down and to the left . I was feeling exactly what you are saying in this video. But my mind was saying as I am doing this , this is against every coaching experience and to be honest I felt as every swing would produce a hook but low and behold a good shot, a nice draw, it felt effectively and easy. Great video I am feeling so much more confidence more control and power, simply amazing!
Daniel, so so wonderful to hear my friend. I could say so many things about all the points you referenced but it wouldn’t be kind of probably that useful. So, enjoy my vids and enjoy playing better golf my friend. Best wishes Stu 😊
This is the part I didn't get before. I tried the strong left hand grip. I couldn't square the face and most of my drives were going to the right. This makes sense. Thanks for your insight. I'll give it a try today. Cheers, Stu!
Wow! Stuart, this is so opposite to what is being taught to us, but it makes sense. Golf is often the opposite of what we think. I’ll give it a try and report back. Again, thanks for the correct education. Cheers.
I haven't watched this video yet, but I just got done playing golf, and I have NEVER played better in my life. Every hole, I was putting pressure on the handle and was puring almost everything. (Well, almost everything) Seriously a HUGE THANK YOU for your coaching. It's so exciting and so.much more fun, when I hit the ball decent. Thank you, thank you thank you. I've been trying everything and nothing was working!!! Thank you!! My distances weren't as good as I think they can be. So hopefully you have some stuff coming up on gaining distance, but other than that it was great! Thank you again!
Gosh it sounds like you’ve had a truly epic day!! Really well done and thank you so much for sharing your experience, it really does make all the hard work worthwhile, hearing positive stories. Keep up the great work and power videos coming! Best wishes Stu 😊
Your grip recommendation is what "Jack" recommends as well. Left hand, golf handle/grip is in the strong part of the hand as if you are going to hit something and right grip is in the fingers like you are going to throw something.
very, very ,very impressed with the quality of your teaching : I am 'passionate " about golf ( not obsessed : more like the Japanese concept of DHÔ practicing a craft to improve yourself..... ) and although becoming a very decent golfer, had a lot of unanswered questions about how to swing well and your outstanding lectures gave all the answers ! and you have to understand and picture the swing properly before you can work on it H.H : Pearl Valley Golf Estate ( Cape Town )....
Hey Herve - thanks so much for your very generous feedback, very much appreciated my friend. Super happy some unanswered questions were covered too. Best wishes Stu 😊
As Stuart knows I am working to move the path from being excessively in to out to more neutral. As a consequence my bad shot has changed from being very much from the heel (and too often a shank) to feeling as though it is from the toe. This video changed my perceptions of my bad shot. Before the video I thought that the issue might be I had overdone the path change (unlikely given my struggles with path but possible), having watched the video I am now wondering it might be a failure of right forearm rotation at transition as mentioned in the video - that sort of makes sense to me as my very best shots, which for me are ridiculously consistently accurate, always leave me with the feeling that the club toe is pointing to the sky at the parallel to ground position in the follow through. (more lessons needed!!)
Mind blowing indeed :) Thank you Stuart! So the right hand weaker grip is not just for drills? Can’t wait to try this and look forward to our next lesson in October! Thank you for sharing your insight and dispelling so many myths out there - it’s the best content out there 👊🏽
Absolutely not a drill Manoj / the left hand needs to be positioned nicely on the golf club but this will absolutely change impact for the better. Looking forward to catching up my friend and seeing your progress. Huge thanks for the very kind feedback too! Best wishes Stu.
Thank you so much Mark - hugely appreciate the lovely feedback. If you do have any questions about this or any other video, please reach out! Best wishes Stu 😊
…..gets out old twister game to practice…..😂 very good as always Stu. Any thoughts on sequencing videos. See so many pros ‘patting’ it down the range whilst amateurs going full pelt because that’s all they can do. Drills welcome!!!
Hi Stuart. Sorry to hear about your sore back. During this video you didn't demonstrate this right forearm action with the left hand on the club. So my question is during the transition to the forward swing, does the right forearm rotation starts to lays open while the left arm starts pulls of the handle?
Dude, started playing 5 years ago. 9 handicap now, first lesson 5 years ago l was told cup left risk, it will be easier 2 square at impact. Been working hard on the bowed left wrist and plying a good game. Never tried to be absolutely natural , the bowed left wrist didn’t feel natural. I just checked in my lounge and with both left risk position, the right hand is still palm up in both bowed and neutral position for me, at top of backswing! How long will it take to feel normal? You just fixed my D today that was very good some days and terrible the next!
Hi Alfonso, love to hear the Driver is improved, great job my friend. It's a great question, how long will it feel normal. This is hugely linked to how quickly the change is correct for you, and how often you hit straighter and better performing shots. As soon as the shots improve you'll start to get comfortable; if the shots are 1 in 10 going better, you're either not applying enough OR it's the wrong change for you. Either way, the shots should get better quickly and therefore the discomfort will be for a short time only. Hope that makes sense! Best wishes Stu
Thanks so much Stuart--been waiting for this vid! I was on to this trail arm feel a few yrs ago and was hitting it remarkably well for about 2 days and then stopped and I moved on. But during that time, I really felt like the club was working an a implement that had its own energy and I didn't have to muscle it to create the energy. When I first became aware of your channel, one of the 1st vids I saw was the "broom" series and I immediately saw this action in that demo. I'm happy to be working w/ you on Skillest and am learning that there are conditions that have to be in place to get that type of striking to work!
We are getting there Dennis and when we are, a whole new world opens up. Skillest has been really fun and I’m sincerely enjoying our journey. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and experience my friend. Best wishes Stu 😊
Super-cool vid Stuart!! I've a suggestion for a video but might be a non-starter because I'm not sure exactly how to word it.🤔 I often struggle to feel the difference between, firstly, adding dynamic loft vs. opening the face, and secondly, decreasing dynamic loft and closing the face. I know you could consider both these things as related i.e., when the face is open to path it is easier to hit a high shot, conversely, it is easier to hit a low punch shot with a closed face to path. I often mix the 'feel' of these up. For example, I try to hit a high shot but instead hit a normal flight with right curvature, or conversely, I try to hit a fade but instead hit very straight but high. I realise it's not that simple in reality i.e. AoA et al., will be involved. However, I was wondering how you might approach a student who mixes these shots up by mistake? Hope that makes sense?
Hi Chris - I know exactly what you're referencing, and I will add to my list of videos to do. Its quite specific and to explain via words will never get me to make you see whats needed. Thanks for the question though and rest assured a video will come your way soon. Hope that helps, well, sort of... Best wishes Stu
Hi Stuart, I started watching your videos a month or 2 back and I am glad to report that I am hitting my driver better than ever. I recently went for a fitting and tried 4 driver heads over 2 hrs. All my drives were on the fairway .. non went OB .. granted my swing speed is only 92 MPH average. My club path is in to out and I hit generally straight with a fade at the end. I noticed also on Trackman that my fades went further than those balls that drew. Is there any reason for this? If I hit a draw, would it be longer, shorter or can I expect similar distances as a fade? Can this be a topic for a future video? 😅 Thanks again for all the videos you are putting out .. 👍🙏 Daniel
Hi Stu, I have just started watching your coaching vid's. Absolutely excellent. Thank you. One question I have... Is the golf swing the same swing for irons as well as the driver taking into consideration the angle of attack and the physical difference in the clubs?
This should answer all your questions Sir… Driver Swing versus Iron Swing | NOBODY UNDERSTANDS ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zymcvwc5sUY.html
Stu, this is awesome! Covers a few things that were going to be my first questions to you when we meet! Gives me something to experiment with in the interim, cheers!👍
So I have been to the range today and using a strong left hand and weak right hand grip with a full rotation of the forearms through the swing am hitting a pretty consistent but fairly big draw with the irons which turns into a pretty hefty hook with the driver. Any pointers?
I have swung like you recommend, in particular with my Driver, with much success. And I have swung, in particular with my irons, with more success, with the feeling of keeping clubface "on plane" throughout the swing. My impression is that the swing with more forearm rotation can generate more speed at the potential sacrifice of accuracy, and the one with less forearm rotation is potentially more accurate, but less powerful. I also feel that swinging with more forearm rotation requires a bit better timing and thus more practice to keep tuned. A swing where the club stays more on plane throughout the swing, and thus reduces some timing elements i.e. the rotation of the forearms, could be simpler to maintain. To me, anyway, the swing with more forearm rotation feels much more athletic, but higher maintenance. Thoughts?
I’ve covered your thoughts in my timing and tempo videos I posted just recently. Super happy you’ve improved your game with my videos, makes me beyond happy my friend! Best wishes Stu 😊
this would seem the most natural way to swing a golf club and i used to swing that way. i remember getting that from one of tom watson's booke where he had the arms roll over back and through. that was about 40 years ago, i'm gonna give it a try again. i currently use a stack and tilt action with a bit of a shut clubface and it does work well but i like to try other things too. thnx for the info.
stuart, one of the other things i find works for me is i make a bit of a wrist hinge and then push down on the handle with the thumbs during the down swing and the clubface turns over and squares up, kind of like radial flexion to ulnar deviation i think.@@GoodGolfCoaching
Team #CAUSEnEFFECT Great 👍🏿 strategy as it allows for one to be aggressive in transition knowing you can pimp the forearms on the release … thanks for sharing …
Hi Stuart, as I commented on your last video now I have my better alignment eager to get the club to lay down through strike, rather than hitting out to the right due to my alignment sometimes chicken winging and losing distance. Will let you know how I get on.
@intelligentgolfperformance Hi Stuart I had a good day at the range using the transition technique.I found it easier than I thought and worked well with all the irons. It is a work in progress. Is the right hand grip for practise or during play? I did ease it back towards the end and still had good contact. I even got our old broom out when I got home and used the technique. So many video's on hitting inside out which I think is causing lots of problems.
Good coaching again Stuart, before I came across your page , at setup l have the pit of the right elbow facing out in front of me then rotate hand anti clockwise ( right hand golfer ). Since watching you I've strengthened my left hand but been pulling the ball left and sometimes duck hooking. Should I weaken left or right hand grip. 👍
Don’t change the left hand, if your right hand is strong, this will absolutely be the issue. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks so much for being here Gordon! Best wishes Stu 😊
@@GoodGolfCoaching Cheers Stuart, watched the video again and realised you were talking directly to me at the end of the video. Hope your backs better soon.👍
Thanks Stuart. Long iron trouble here hitting off mats. I'm glad the game is played on grass, but unless your rich here in LA at a country club, you don't get to hit off grass at a range. So, irons are good up to 6 (tolerable) on a mat. 5 iron off a mat I can't get above 20 feet or so and I've decapitated several worms. However when I sneak a few balls to the grass area in front of the mat (a lot of people do, the range doesn't like it but we don't get in trouble) I hit just fine with good distance. I do however hit my 4 and 3 hybrid off the mat pretty good. Way better than my 5 off a mat. Should I just get a hybrid to replace my 5 and did I answer my own question? LOL. Or would an swing adjustment on the mat with a 5 also transfer to hitting better off grass? I believe my setup is pretty good, ball position with a 5 is about 1/2 ball forward. thanks for any insight!
@@GoodGolfCoaching Thanks again. I do take a divot and really try and compress my irons. A good shot for me is a draw. A poor shot is a blocky thingy our right. A horrible shot is a duck hook..A wear pattern on my clubs isn't dead center, but I tend to be close to the sweet spot. I can toe a long iron and can shank my 60 wedge if I get lazy...
Stu I could do with some more help. When the ball is below me and on an uphill slope and the reverse above my feet on a downhill stance. The ball position is causing me some stress. Have a great weekend pal 🏴
Stuart I play on a very undulating course. It is parkland but with a clay soil that makes it play like a links course. I am not confident hitting long irons when the ball is below my feet but I am hitting on an uphill lie. The fairways are rolling so within 3 yards I am striking on an uphill slope or a downhill slope depending on where the ball stops. Into a hill that I add 20 yards on to my distance.
I can’t give you any direction with those insights Stephen - would be pure guess work I’m afraid my friend. Sorry if I sound evasive, guesswork isn’t my thing 😊😂 I now offer a swing review and three videos to focus on based on your swing review on Skillest if this would interest. Best wishes Stu 😊
For long enough I've tried to limit right arm external rotation on back swing - slice cure several years ago. ???!!! Poor advice. Thank you for righting a wrong
