im asian and my dad is a realtor too, and he told me that asians care alot about feng shui and where the house is pointed and a other superstitious stuff, but he also said that if the price is low enough they stop caring. which just shows two really big asian sterotypes, we are cheap and really superstitious
Teeleer kid, sometimes, superstition is something scientists could not understand with their limited knowledge. You got to be more open minded. Don’t easily judge something you don’t understand...
@shirley Chang you're right, next time i go to the casino i should wear all red and ill win the jackpot right? maybe i should not go on the 13th since thats an unlucky number, but wait 13 is actually a lucky number in other cultures, what should i do then?

That’s why there’s never a “4” iteration on all Chinese smartphones. Especially for oneplus. The brand “一加” is pronounced the same as “一家” which means a/one family. And Oneplus 4 will literally pronounced “death of the hole family” in Chinese.
I think I had a D in 4th or 5th grade. My mother home tutored me for the entire summer: fractions, multiplication tables geometry. She taught me the constellations, made me read Shakespeare, Greek Mythology by Edith Hamilton, The Three Musketeers, and other classics. She basically had me reading and understanding college level books by the end of summer.
In China or Hong Kong, 4 is synonymous with "death". It is therefore not a surprise to realize 4th floor or 14th floor don't exist in neither regions. A good example is when we first moved to Canada and brought a new car, the dealer 'intelligently' decided to give us a "144" plate. My grandmother threw a massive fit, demanding they exchange it with one without a 4 immediately free of charge. Thankfully they did - one of the finance associate was Chinese and she talked with the management.
Idk why she didn't just ask for a new check. You can just have the boss void the old one and send a new one. That's how we used to do it back in the day if the employee lost their check.
*I knew it would be 4s!* 😂 *We have the same belief in Korean culture. Some buildings don't have a 4th floor. They go from 3rd to the 5th. The Korean market by me doesn't have an aisle 4 either. I had no idea it was the same in China!*
If you wanna know why 4 is bad luck to Asians is because 4 means dies, well not sure about other languages but in Cantonese (A type of Chinese) it means die. Edit:I mean it has the same pronunciation as die
new edit: it has a very similar pronunciation as die/death (u forgot how Canto is a tonal language, so it's _technically_ different pronunciation) I know that both in Mandarin and Cantonese follow this rule where four and death are similar to in pronunciation. That superstition had passed on to other Chinese dialects that may not have the similar pronunciation, which then those dialects created regions and thus countries such as Vietnam, Korea and Japan somewhat follow the same superstition of the number four, and many other Chinese tradition.
All three kids here have high pitched voices. Jessica has a really thick accent too. It is almost like instead of coming from a Chinatown in DC, they came from Taiwan itself right before the pilot started.
my dad won't stay at hotels on the floor or room that start with 4 or 14. once we checked in a hotel with floor 12 straight to 15 they basically skipped 2 floor just to avoid bad luck
Okay, so 4 in mandarin is (四)sì. It has somehow the intonation or significance of (死)sǐ , which is death. That’s why when you go inside a Chinese condo, you can’t find any floors that contains the number 4.
