And "Sorrow no more" is promised in the Book of Revelation at the end of times, when the lion will lay down with the lamb and Christ rules for 1,000 years on earth.
Yes correct. This song is about taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions. Not relying on some fictitious figure to which we can make excuses for our stupidity and cruelty. When we do this there will be sorrow no more. The only true Messiah who can rescue us is us from ourselves.
@@keyratcane66 Sorry brother, but I beg to differ. If that were true, then the cross has no meaning and Cheist died in vain. Religion is man's attempt to reconcile himself to God, which is impossible. Christ died for our sins. Check out Chuck Missler. Jesus loves you, brother!
yes the only true Messiah can recuse us from ourselves. And he already has. But you can wait till the kings and Queens relinquish their crowns. Good luck with that
Did you purposely make your way to a BAD RELIGION song to preach at people who don’t want to be preached at? If so, congrats… you’re one of the biggest reasons people hate religion in the first place.
That's because you have been listening to a tampered with, corrupted version that does not actually exist. The real version of this song while played on the radio, real radio, is what gives me chill bumps. 😂
This was my exs last song he had on his MySpace before he died of cancer in 2009. Today would have been his birthday. Happy 39th Alan. I'm thinking of you.
i sing this song to my son as a lullaby just like i sung it to my niece and nephews. i want them to always grow up knowing that peace and freedom is possible through kindness.
wow I still love this so much, I was a little punk back in the day listening to BR, and this song beautifully transcends time. love the lyrics, so much truth!
...I curse the day when I was born! ( Its a bible verse that you only can find on bible literature... Job 3:3) JUST TO SETTLE THE DEPT THAT COULD NOT BE WON..JOB 1: 8-12 I love it when Bad religion says on the song.. When the only true messiah rescues us from our selves, then you would imagine there will be sorrow no more!!!
It's a widely misunderstood fact about bad religion. They are godly believers. It's not called bad deity, it's bad religion. "Bad Religion! Bad! Go think about what you've done."
+MrUnidyne Interesting that you should mention this. If you listen to Greg Graffin's solo album "Cold As The Clay", you'll find that it is a collection of covers of traditional American folk songs mixed in with a few of Graffin's own original compositions. If you aren't a devotee of folk music (and I'm not) it's very hard to tell, without looking of course, which songs are covers and which ones are new material. That is the hallmark of a great songwriter.
There's nothing quite like singing this with twenty thousand other people in unison. It's like being part of one living thing, all twenty thousand of us, just for a few minutes.
With this music, you just have to listen carefully. It is the tone of his voice that makes words sometimes unclear but it is the tone of his voice that helps make them sound unique. Just enjoy the tunes and the words will come to you and everything will fall into place :D
I don't mean this as a diss in any way because I lovee bad religion but the start of this song sounds like something by the police which is neat, the drumming in particular. great song though. probably these guys and the descendents are the two tightest punk bands going which says a lot considering they are both probably the oldest. . respect from sydney
+conor smith Dude, a comparison to the Police is more of a compliment than a diss in my book. I also LOVE the start of this song. The harmonics in the guitar sound so beautiful when combined with the hi-hat and rim patterns. Cheers from Arizona: a place so conservative I need Bad Religion to keep my sanity. :)
+conor smith I wouldn't take it as an insult, and doubt that the band would, either. Given the time the band was formed and the age of most of its members, it's hard not to imagine that Brooks Wackerman and possibly other members might have been influenced by The Police.
I think Greg said once, this is a song about the book of Job. It's the great sadness of knowing this world will never be as just and fair as it ought to be. I think he's writing from the perspective of Job or another believer (maybe he was at one point in his life) and questioning the supposed wisdom of a "just" creator. I think it's a great song by Bad Religion standards and it fits with the theme of questioning supposed truths.
Father, can you hear me? How have I let you down? I curse the day that I was born And all the sorrow in this world Let me take you to the herding ground Where all good men are trampled down Just to settle a bet that could not be won Between a prideful father and his son Will you guide me now? For I can't see A reason for the suffering and this long misery What if every living soul could be upright and strong? Well then I do imagine There will be sorrow Yeah, there will be sorrow And there will be sorrow no more When all soldiers lay their weapons down Or when all kings and all queens relinquish their crowns Or when the only true messiah rescues us from ourselves It's easy to imagine There will be sorrow Yeah, there will be sorrow And there will be sorrow no more There will be sorrow Yeah, there will be sorrow And there will be sorrow no more Yeah, there will be sorrow Yeah, there will be sorrow And there will be sorrow no more
I thought Brett wrote this song. Greg might've still been talking about it, but I'm pretty sure this was a Gurewitz one. It makes more sense coming from him too.
As a combat veteran, I know that the only way to secure peace is to let people know that you are willing to fight for it. I understand what Graffin wishes for but I know how unrealistic that is. For what it's worth, I'm willing to fight and risk my life to see peace. I don't want praise. I just want people to understand.
You are a fustrated and neurotic man. You don't need war to be peaceful. (but we wouldn't know what peace is without a war). Look at religious shamans, priests, monks etc. Do they practice violence? Look at the teachings of their perspective on life. Look at the 1960's hippie movements. Those people didn't go to war but they practice peace and love. You don't need to fight in order to be peaceful. That is just bullshit...
This song will always stay relevant. Which is truly unfortunate if you think about why. I look forward to the day there will be sorrow no more, either in my time or for the time of generations to come.
me enamore de ustedes .. BAD religion ..para mi son tan grandes como MEgadetH y su filosfia me insipira ...los escuhe por first time ..and me gusta su music♫‼
@Considerate and Pragmatic if that has really happened, I'm truly sorry and I'm touched. You should write a book or books. You are a miracle and a gift to the world.
I can really relate to this song :), i was always told that i'll be a jerk and a dumbass, but im going to highschool :GPA :3.8 and all my friends call me the most reliable guy there is xD
