I have an LG range with a bad thermostat. This tutorial will show you how to determine if your thermostat is bad. One of the signs that your thermostat is bad is your control panel has lost all power. If you determine that your thermostat is bad the best way to find your part number is to go to www.homedepot.com/parts and enter in your manufacturer and model number and you can find your part number. Good luck. My range model number is LRE80757ST.

Your video was a life saver. My LG Range had exactly this problem. My Range has two ovens, so it has two thermostats. I trouble shot it like you suggested and found which one was bad. Ordered the part, installed it and my wife said "now get back to cooking" :)

🤣 that's awesome. Glad you figured it. Now you're the hero twice, once for fixing the range and once for making dinner!

Boom! You nailed it, Mark. Found the bad thermostat right away, ordered a replacement from Amazon and replaced the part in 10 minutes. Everything works great. Thank you!

That’s not for the f-09 code. Also that stove isn’t gas. Most stoves use 120v plug and a gas line. This wouldn’t work to fix anything.

Hi Mark, I have an LG electric stove and my oven is overheating , if I put a cake in for 35 min at 350 to bake, after about 15 mins in the cake is burnt , I change the temperature sensor and the issue is still there , any suggestions ?

I realize this is an old question but it might help others to know the answer. You probably have a bad thermostat. The main control board "might" be bad but it's five times as expensive to replace so start with the thermostat. I'm not talking about the thermal switch Mark replaced as if that's broken the oven doesn't power up at all. You're looking to replace the bayonet looking sensor that is used to measure the oven temperature.

hi my Lg range, if i put a piece of bread at warm, it will burn. Is it the same piece that i have to buy or do you think it's the thermostat? Thanks for your respond.

So, we have followed this instruction and replaced the thermostat three times. It always blows out again. Advice?

The thermal switch Mark replaced is a very crappy part. If I remember correctly, it has 120VAC applied to it during normal operation so it doesn't somehow get burned up because too much voltage is present. I've replaced mine twice too just like you. If you're getting your parts from the same place, try a different source.

How do you get the wire clips off of the thermostat? They are really stuck on there and I am afraid of breaking them.
@GetItDoneProjects
@GetItDoneProjects 5 лет назад
Sorry, I didn't see this until now. The easy way to get them off is a pair a needle nose pliars. Just grab on to the clip and wiggle a little while you pull up and they come right off typically.

My oven isnt heating to the preset temperature. I have a front panel display. Now when i take this thermal fuse out of the equation and "tie the wires" together and bypass the fuse like here it got to 400 preset temp in minutes, no problem. This is a new thermal fuse though, almost like internally when there is a fuse in the system its not allowing it to heat properly. This is the 2nd thermal fuse ive tried already as well. Any ideas?

Stuff_N_Thanngs did you ever figure this out? My upper oven turns on but never gets past 100 degrees or so. I replaced the temperature probe and that did not fix it. Oven clicks on/off while trying to heat. So, it is getting power but just can't get to the selected backing temp. I have not tried replacing the Thermostat because I thought that I would have no power if that was bad as this video discussed. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Mark, I have the same range, however my issue is the oven is overheating and will not turn off when it reaches temperature. Could this also be a bad thermostat?
@GetItDoneProjects

That's possible. I'd call this company and ask for Gerald. Talk him through your problem. +1 801-292-8229 Appliance Discount Center. He's helped me diagnose many problems. You can tell him I told you to call.

Hi Mark. Great video! I have the same LG range. During self cleaning, the oven shut off, everything is dead (panel, burners), and the oven door is locked. Do you think the thermostat blew or something else? I need to figure out how to release the door as well. First time we used the self cleaning feature. Figures. :-) Thank you.
@GetItDoneProjects
@GetItDoneProjects 3 года назад
That's precisely what happened to ours. The thermal fuse has blown. Because of that a safety feature locks the door to protect you from danger. If I remember correctly you can p pull the fuse and then bridge the two terminals where the fuse goes with some wire. That will allow the door to open. Then you can buy a replacement fuse and you're back in business.

@@GetItDoneProjects Thank you sir. I will unplug the unit and clip the two wires together to see if that works, then order the part online if it does. If not, Plan B!

@@daviddrost7963 don't forgot to test the fuse. If you have a multimeter, do a continuity test on it to make sure that's what's wrong.

@@GetItDoneProjects I got it done! Ordered the thermostat fuse through a local supplier and got it in the mail today. Five minutes later, the panel turned on, I held the Clear button for 3 seconds, and the oven door opened up. Thanks again! PS, I was quoted > $200 for LG service. I paid $5.95 + $4.00 USPS.

@GetItDoneProjects

Courtney Gogolinski not sure what you saw that led you to that conclusion. Putting the multimeter on the thermostat itself it was certainly not functioning. And after replacing the thermostat, the oven functions perfectly and I never replaced the fuse.

Courtney, I agree it looks like the fuse you are replacing not the Thermostat. But otherwise good instruction. www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Thermal-Fuse/6930W1A003X/1365203 www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts?query=LRE30453ST%20Temperature%20Sensor

Mark Mason the part you replaced in the video is the Thermal Fuse. The thermal “sensor” is the probe right above where you’re working.
