Why would you lay tile over tile in a shower? Don’t you know it will leak sooner or later? This was a job we got a call from to see if we could find the leak in the shower. Well the first 10 minutes in told me a lot about the install. Schluter backer 1/2” foam walls. Cement mortar shower pan with Schluter membrane over the top. Landscape blocks glued together for the shower curb then wrapped in Schluter membrane. Lol wow what a install...

More hackery…..no need to cover up the drain from rocks and debris from sliding way down the pipe and making trouble in their new renovated shower? Don’t use the excuse they are gonna change the drain cus it’s down in the pipe past where they need to swap out for a shower and tub renovation. It’s a shame to see work being done in this manner. On the bright side you gotta cool tool and the looks like you know how to set up a camera.

Thanks for the comment yes I use a Oatley pvc test plug to cap off the drain and it is installed here now in this video. Pause the video and screenshot it as that you can blow up the image and see the test plug. Test plugs are use in the installation of all new tubs or showers. They are used to fill the tub or shower pan to check for leaks, but I have definitely seen people just let all and everything they tear out fall down in the drains 😞. This shower was the 1st I have tore out that had two layers of tile over each other. Customer said they didn’t use the right color grout so the guy that built it decided to just tile over the old floor to change the grout color what a mess.

I would use only large floor mat thinset lowes Probably has the best it’s in a white and red bag you will want to use that type of thinset so the tile thinset won’t sag while installing hope that will help.
