Curry with Chickpea flour dumplings or Besan ke badiyon ki kadhi also known as 'Dubuk badiyon ki kadhi'

For the dumplings:
Ingredients:
Chickpea flour/besan: 100 grams
Ginger garlic paste: 1/2 teaspoon
Salt: 1/4th teaspoon
Red chilli powder: 1/4th teaspoon
Turmeric powder: few pinches
Cumin/zeera powder: 1/4th teaspoon
Chopped coriander: 1 tablespoon
Procedure:
1. Add chickpea flour or besan to a bowl.
2. Add ginger garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, chopped coriander and cumin powder to the chickpea flour.
3. Add required amount of water and mould into a thick dough.
4. Mix well and keep aside.
For the curry/kadhi:
Ingredients:
Tomatoes: 2 medium sized
Onion: 1 small
Ginger garlic paste: 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder: 1/4th teaspoon
Salt: 1 teaspoon
Red chilli powder: 1 teaspoon
Tamarind: 20 grams
Oil: 2 tablespoons
Curry leaves: 1 tablespoon
Chickpea flour/besan: 2 tablespoons
Cumin/zeera powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander/dhaniya powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Chopped coriander: 1 tablespoon
Whole green chillies: 2
Procedure:
1. Soak tamarind in half a cup of water for about 15 minutes.
2. After 15 minutes of soaking, squeeze and sieve the tamarind water, keep aside.
3. Add oil to a pan.
4. Add sliced onion and stir till the onions turn light brown.
5. Add ginger garlic paste. Stir fry for about 30 seconds.
6. Add chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder.
7. Close the lid and cook till the tomatoes get tender.
8. Stir fry till the oil separates.
9. Add salt and red chilli powder. Stir for 30 seconds.
10. Add tamarind water, 500 ml plain water and curry leaves.
11. Cook for about 15 minutes on medium to low flame till the raw smell of tamarind goes off.
12. Mix the dough for the dumplings again and drop the dumplings into this boiling water.
13. Cook for about 5 minutes.
14. Add 2 tablespoons chickpea flour or besan to a separate bowl, add cumin or zeera powder , coriander or dhaniya powder and 1/2 cup water. Whisk well.
15. Gradually, add this thin batter to the curry and stir the curry continuously to prevent formation of lumps.
16. Add chopped coriander and whole green chillies to the curry.
17. Simmer for about 2 minutes.
For Temparing:
Ingredients:
Oil: 2 tablespoons
Cumin/zeera seeds: 1 teaspoon
Peeled garlic cloves: 5
Whole dry red chillies: 5
Curry leaves: 1 tablespoon
Procedure:
1. Add oil to another pan.
2. When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds or zeera. Let splutter.
3. Add peeled garlic cloves and whole dried red chillies.
4. When the garlic cloves and whole dried red chillies turn brown, switch off the flame.
5. Add curry leaves.
6. Temper the curry and immediately close the lid so that the aroma blends with the curry.
Chickpea flour dumplings curry or Besan ke badiyon ki kadhi/Dubuk badiyon ki kadhi is ready.

Nice recipe I tried yesterday. The only thing is that dumpling was not quite tasty as the gravy kind of raw shall we keep baking soda or baking powder to make them light and well cooked from inside or can we fry them before adding them. Thank you in advance.

Assalam alaikum, agar aap gosht ki kadhi banaenge, tab baghaarne/tempering ki zaroorat nahi hogi. Gosht, pyaaz aur tamatar pehle gala lijiye, phir khatta dalkar phir yehi tareeke se kadhi bana lijiye.
