Thanks for another great video. As a noob, I learned the hard way why I needed to raise my non-racket arm. I hit my non-racket hand a few times in my follow through and ouch, it hurt. Ever since I started to raise my arm, I have moved to a more advanced level, I only hit my thigh

Also watch Fu Haifeng hitting this shuttle. Yes his forearm pronates but in the follow through. If you reach your arm up as high as you can and I asked you which joint would produce a downward angle, it would be wrist flexion. Which you see him clearly do. You can see this in the follow through of most players after they smash. Study Taufik or whomever you wish but study it in slow motion. Don’t focus on pronation. Your arm does this naturally as a part of the anatomy. This is why someone commented that I am teaching one way and doing another, meaning I am teaching flexion but demonstrating with pronation. That’s because I’m not consciously pronating. It’s happening naturally if I follow through naturally (not stiff but loose). Think angle. Think flicking the wrist. Think catapult, basketball slam dunk , volleyball serve or spike. If you bend down on your knees at the net and reach over the top of the net, what joint in your arm will allow you to reach over the other side of the net? Your wrist. It’s the last independent joint in the arm able to produce movement. Lee Chong Wei cocks his wrist backwards (extension) before he swings. Its because he uses flexion to hit the shuttle. So he demonstrates this very clearly. Otherwise the wrist is useless in overheads if pronation is the only movement. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eH6qFJoySf8.html

Thanks for the really detailed explanation,so helpful! A small suggestion though, could you lower down the background music next time, it’s frankly unnecessary (people watching videos like this one are here to learn,not for entertainment), and for noise-sensitive people like me, loud and constant unnecessary sound drive us crazy. Thanks for the teaching again!

WOW! Such a great video! I have been applying this into my game and it has helped me reduce my shoulder pain by quite a lot! I really enjoyed it. Recently my body has been feeling stiff so what stretches would you recommend before a game and after a game to reduce injury? If you could answer this in the comment or in another video that'd be great! Keep up the great work!
@PritPachu
@PritPachu 4 года назад
Ayden Lum will make a video but for now, before the game so dynamic Stretching. After the game and throughout the day do static stretching where you hold the stretch for long periods. If you have problem areas do static stretching of those areas only before the game or practice. But you don’t want to do too much static stretching before playing.

Please read the following biomechanics article on throwing action. It is the same as badminton. Note that internal rotation of the shoulder which partly contributes to forearm pronation in the FOLLOW THROUGH occurs naturally as a PART of the swing action of the arm. There is a lot of confusion out there as to the mechanics of overhead swing action in badminton. If you are trying to produce downward or upward angle, wrist flexion is responsible for this. Think of how a catapult functions. It is a hinging action which takes place along the sagital plane and around the frontal axis. Watch basketball slam dunking action or volleyball server. The arm will probate as a normal anatomical movement in the follow through. Wrist flexion is what you should be actively focusing on. www.physio-pedia.com/Throwing_Biomechanics

Hi. Do you have any drills for forehand rotation for clear shots? I’m getting shoulder pain. Think I’m not using the correct technique for clear shots. Also the shuttle doesn’t reach the back court. It ends up in mid court. Is it because the technique is wrong? Thanks
@riskpill
@riskpill 4 года назад
Nice videos. You make it look so easy :) Tried doing this scissor kick, but the initial phase where entire body weight is transferred to racket foot is putting strain on that foot and resulting in pain after a few kicks. Don't know if I am doing it wrong.
@PritPachu
@PritPachu 4 года назад
thorondor1990 without seeing what you’re doing I can’t say but the strain might simply be an issue of strength & conditioning. I would start slow by building the strength in the feet through single leg calf raises, single leg squats. It’s probably because of the significant asymmetry of the weight transfer where one foot is taking all the weight and you’re not used to that. So just practice allowing the leg to bear weight before attempting to jump off it.

Hello, i would like to know if we have to bend wrist for high clear?
@PritPachu
@PritPachu 4 года назад
dat dat yes absolutely you have to bend it backwards (extension) and also forward (flexion). The wrist has to be extended because it’s the only way you will be able to get the angle of the trajectory to go up. The strings should face up at point of contact. Then let it bend forward naturally. It should all be extremely relaxed and perfectly timed so you use minimal effort. Like a wrecking ball.
4 года назад
@@PritPachu A lot of modern badminton material instructs to use forearm rotation and no wrist extension/flexion for power generation. Examples: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WmDl_048fDk.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HvAOMnoT3zQ.htmlm30s Can you ellaborate on that?
@jamycine
@jamycine 3 года назад
@ These videos are against using only panhandle and wrist because you can't generate enough power. They are only about using pronation method for all overhead shots...................... Prit video is more about Pronation+ wrist flexion.,,,,,,,,,,,, Power comes from Floor+ hip+ body rotation+ pronation+ wrist flexion= Fluid clear motion.....
