From what I've played, she's definitely a low floor, high ceiling style of character. She def feels like she'll be apart of the cut of characters that have lots of creativity. Excited to see what diaphone comes up with!
The best part about a new character is discovering stuff. Baiken is the most fun character I've used in the game and is exactly what I've been waiting for for months to motivate me to really dedicate myself 😭 I love seeing what other players do/figure out compared to what I lab out and can't wait to grind my new main (until Asuka drops)

I think she has strong neutral but somewhat weak conversion ability. Also, her hitboxes / hurtboxes on moves are very not generous in this game. 2S and jS have full hurtbox around the mace, unlike in previous games where they were full disjoincted moves. 2H is very good but has an enormous hurtbox to counterpoke it, and doesn't low profile this time. H Kabari currently is seeing strong performance, but people will figure out you can react to her ending blockstrings with that with 6P or other tools. She's very fun tho, and having a counter is honestly making playing Strive a lot more tolerable to me. I played mostly I-No and then switched to Jack'O. I forgot what having defensive tools actually mean. It's useful. ._.
Baiken's always been defensive with a STRONG emphasis on neutral. She's a mid-range poker with simple combos but her moves are deep. For example you can use her Youzansen in strive as: A cross up on air dash, a catch while jumping, a combo tool and a DP if you input 23698-S quickly (down to top roll up). Her chains work both as pokes and okizeme tools (meaning after a knockdown you can get a guaranteed tether on hit OR block) and when in tether she CONTROLS neutral if played well. She's also not super focused on defence as most people think, in fact she works very well on offense. She's a balanced character with tools for every situation. Sol can't do things she can, he's just a good Ryu.
@@bloodyidit4506 her combos are cool in xrd. at least they weren't very simple for me lol. This game has much easier combos because of the lack of air teching
When it comes to conversion ability She is definitely gonna be all about cointerhit fishing. That's where her damage gets good and I'd argue she has pretty solid buttons for doing it.
My main concern about Baiken is that she has a really hard time rushing down. Her neutral is great, but it seems like she is going to lose to characters that punish you for waiting around (Faust, Jack-O, Happy Chaos, maybe Axl too). That's my "48 hours" prediction. Maybe they'll just get rid of that weakness, in a later patch, like how they got rid of all Ramlethal's weaknesses.
Diaphone, do you have any idea on a matchup that baiken would struggle against? This is my own opinion of course but i’ve been struggling alot against may. Im not amazing, tbf, so i could be wrong.
it shouldn't be too difficult--what seems the issue? 😯 (are you timing it after jump-canceling close slash? i found that timing the motion around the '9' of '2369S' is more consistent than just buffering the motion.)
The technique is called tiger knee. If you search that there will be lots of videos on how to do it. Tiger knee allows you to do an aerial move as low to the ground as possible by ending it in diagonal up forward instead of just forward.( 9 instead of 6)

I hated Strive because played Xrd Rev2 which was a lot faster, but came back for my favourite character Baiken, and starting to like strive. I'm hoping for Jam also, this is my second favourite character.
