Hi Mitchell, and thank you. I am very pleased with the shower and how it's turned out. My next door neighbour just moved, which is a shame,as he used to get me offcuts of stainless steel lol. That comes in very handy if you have a pond lol. I love the young bit 👍👍 thank you. Take care mate, Terry.
Hi mate, and thank you. lol that's right. You know what they say, you can't over filter a pond lol. I can't believe just how much media I got in there. Take care mate, Terry.
As always - a fantastic upload. You are like the Bob Ross of the pond world! Bakki is looking great, serious amount of media packed in there 👍🏼 Great to see you on the screen again Terry. Best wishes, Dave 😉
Hi Dave, and thank you for your kind comments mate, really appreciated. I did get a lot of media in there lol. I just hope it all works 🤞🤞🤞 lol. I must admit, I am pleased how it's turned out. Thanks again mate and take care, Terry.
I know lots of other people say this but I really do enjoy your videos👍😊, always interesting and educational in a fun way👍. Bakki shower looks amazing and the Mountain Tree filter media looks like it should do a good job👍. We seem to be forecast a warm week so fingers crossed it won’t be long before the covers come off and you get the upflow filter and protein skimmer working again…..happy days😊. Stay safe👍🐟🈲😊
Hi Phil, thank you mate, I really appreciate that, thank you. I am pleased with the way the shower has turned out, and it seems to be working well. I wanted it in the filter house so I can run it through the winter. Yes, Mountain Tree contacted me and ask if I would use their media, so I took their hand off 😆😆. We're doing a lot in the garden at the moment, but I will get the up-flow and skimmer up and running this week. Thanks again mate, you take care and all the best for the new season. Terry.
Hi Lau, and thank you, you know it's always appreciated. I have got the CNC all up and running again. I'm sorting my garden out at the moment, and it's flippin hard work, as you know lol. Take care, Terry.
Terry, looks good. You might want to consider a larger discharge pipe diameter. As far as I can see, inlet is about 2” and the outlet is the same. I would have gone for at least 3”, if not 4” on the discharge. Cheers from Australia, Raz
Hi Raz, thanks mate. The reason for the 2" outlet is because it was all ready there from the river. So it saved me a lot of work. I do have a problem with an air lock when I first strike it up, but once it's running it works fine. The flow I'm getting through the shower is quite good, and the outlet is coping well. I have a 10,000 to 20,000 lph variflow pump on it, and I'm running it at 40%, so I think I'm getting around 8000 lph over the shower. We'll see how things go over time. Thanks again mate, Terry.
Hi Terry, love the videos they cover all the things I like to do, Koi, ponds, tinkering about & making & repairing stuff. Enjoy the nice weather mate 👍
Hi John, and thank you. I must admit, the workshop has been a bit of a pain just lately, so 🤞🤞🤞 I don't get any more for a while lol. You can't beat a bit of tinkering lol. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
Thanks Phil, good to hear you enjoy the videos. Just a matter of sitting back and seeing how the shower goes now. Thanks again and take care mate, Terry.
Thanks for another 30 minutes of sheer bliss!! I love to watch your progress, nothing seems to phase you, I wouldn't have had a clue how to identify and fix the problems on the CNC! Great to see how fast your little Shusui is growing, that's a good sign your with water quality is fine and lovely heated water through winter. Love the Shower and now looking forward to seeing how everything progresses in future videos. Take care mate.
Thanks mate, Good to hear you enjoy'd the video. Must admit it was a bit scary when I took the controller apart lol. I hadn't a clue what I was looking at 😄😄😄 It was quite easy really, just a matter of elimination, and doing the cheapest first. Sid is growing really well and has settled in nicely now. Being heated has helped a lot, like you say. I am pleased with the shower and how it's turned out. It's just a matter of seeing how it goes over the next few months. Thanks again, and take care mate, Terry.
Hi Terry another outstanding job on the shower 👍 I wouldn’t know where to start if I had a CNC machine and it wasn’t working properly 😬 glad you managed to fix it even though it cost you a bit of money
Great job Terry, it's nice to be getting back into the pond season again I've not been heated but all the koi seem to have come through the winter ok. Stay well and looking forward to your next video.
Hi Dave, and thanks mate. The weather here has been fantastic the last few days and really make you feel like ponding. Good to hear your koi are all ok mate, it's always a tricky time coming out of winter. Have a great season, take care and stay safe, Terry.
Well Done Terry, shower looks fantastic and hopefully will do a great job for you. Love your Shusui. I’ve had one for a few years now almost identical colours to yours and it is my favourite fish in my pond. As usual great video Mate👍
Hi Paul, and thank you mate. I am pleased with how it's turned out. Shusui are my favourite koi, I've been looking for one for quite a while, and he's a lovely old boy. He was a bit timid for a start, as he was only about 6" and the others are all quite big lol. Thank's again mate, take care, Terry.
Hi Paul, and thank you. I'm very well mate thank you. I hope all's well with you and your family. Good luck with your shower build, and I hope all goes well for you mate. Take care, Terry.
Super job Terry👌 I'm itching to get my shower out but mine will be on the pond so I'm waiting until temps are more stable so as not to cool the water too much.👍
Hi mate, thank you, very much appreciated mate. That's why I wanted mine inside, so I can run it all winter without it dropping my pond temp. Thanks again, take care, Terry.
Hi Terry you’r shower fits in there lovely you’ve made an excellent job of it and they all match like a little filter family lol. You have huge talent. That’s my RDF been running a year now and no problems. I striped it down during Xmas and coated the shaft again. Wasn’t too badly corroded. Cheers Glenn
Hi Glenn, and thank you for your kind comments mate. I must admit, I am very pleased with the way it's turned out, and it seems to be working very well 🤞🤞. Good to hear your RDF is working as it should, must have been built by a quality builder 👍👍 well done mate. Take care and stay safe, Terry.
Shower is looking awesome. Should make a massive difference to keeping the water quality pristine with minimal work on your part. Hopefully the CNC continues to work now that you've almost rebuilt it. Cheers. 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
Hi Ken, and thank you mate. I must admit I am pleased with it. It's just a matter of sitting back and seeing how things go now. Hopefully I don't get any more problems in the workshop. Thanks again mate and take care, Terry.
Hi Leon, I must say, I am pleased with the way the shower has turned out. Lol, I can't believe just how much media I got in there lol. Good job I had it kicking about, or it would have cost me a fortune lol. I'm hoping the mature media will help seed the new stuff 🤞🤞🤞 Enjoy this nice weather mate, take care, Terry.
Hi Terry the shower looks great and the mountain tree is a great addition another great watch I hope spring has arrived. I am hoping for a few more subs this season. Stay well mate.💯👍👍
Hi Dave, and thank you mate. I just had a thought, and can't remember subscribing to your channel mate. So I do apologize for that, I've just been to you channel and subscribed mate. It feels like spring is here, but can we trust the English weather lol. Take care, Terry.
Hi terry Wish I had your skill to build the RDF . Fantastic the way you tinker about and always upgrading and altering .I think I am gonna try and build a diy bakki river this year. Have you thought about maybe building an auto feeder? Regards Andy smith
Hi Andy, and thanks mate. It's not that difficult really, if I can do it, anybody can. Once you've got the hang of plastic welding (which is just a bit of practice) there's no stopping you. I've found it a must in the pond world. I wouldn't be without mine now. I have thought about an auto feeder, but I do like to feed my koi myself, you get a good look at your koi and notice problems that much quicker, if you have any. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
Looks really good Terry. If you are not going to use your old river I might be interested in buying it off you (depending on price of course). I'm thinking of adding a river to my set up and having some veg growing in the top on trays. It should work but I'm interested in trying it.
Hi Jim, and thanks mate. I was going to put the river over the top of the shower, but I don't think there's enough room. If I decide to sell it, I'll give you a shout mate. Thanks, take care, Terry.
Looking good again Terry glad chunkys back to himself 👍 that shower is epic 👌 forget plans you should be making showers and filters for a living you'd make a fortune 😉
Hi Mate, and thank you. Yes, Chunky's back to his old self. He was eating out of my hand again today. Thanks mate, but I'm too old now, maybe a few years ago, but too late for me now at 70 lol. I just love to tinker, and hopefully show people that it can be done. Take care mate, Terry.
@@Wrighty well what you need is an apprentice to pass all your ponding skills to then every thing he makes you both share the profits 📈 🤣🤣 if only hey but I would definitely buy one of those showers 👍 what was the cost to make it yourself if you don't mind me asking? With out media
That's a good idea mate, but I'm just looking for the quiet life now lol. The 4 sheets of 9mm PP (that has really gone up in price) plus VAT and delivery cost me £240.00 plus welding rods, so about £270.00. It's a 3 tier 900mm shower. If I could have got my PP cheaper somewhere else, I'm not sure.
@@Wrighty still though that's less than half the price of buying one and you've made it to fit perfectly where you want I wish I had your skills I really do 👍
Plastic welding is quite easy Jamie. Quite a few of my subscribers are now plastic welding all sorts of things. I'm always here if they need a bit of advise, but they soon pick it up. Take care mate, Terry.
Hi mate, a lot of people had it bad last year, but I think most people are suffering this year. All I can put it down to, is the mild winters. Yes, Chunky's back to his old self. Thanks Daz, have a great season mate, Terry.
Good to see another video Terry. The shower looks to be a great addition to your setup. I see 'Chunky' has got through his illness. I have a lovely Goshiki, but unfortunately this winter has not treated him well. I have noticed his scales are raised so I have no alternative but to pull him out. I will use a Potassium permangenate bath initially unless you think there might be a better alternative? I can see some of the scales are also red towards his belly. Just hope he has not got a big ulcer there. Anyway, great video again Terry!!
Hi Alex, and thank mate. I am really pleased how the shower has turned out. Yes, Chunky is back to his normal self thank goodness. I've never used PP mate, so I don't know, I find it a bit scary as it's a bleach, so be careful. I used the YAMITSU antibacterial New Formula Acriflavine and dosed the pond every 3 days, and it got him sorted. Have a great coming pond season mate, take care, Terry.
I got mine from Discount Leisure Products as their just up the road from me. You can give them a call: 01775 711 751 or here's the link: www.discountleisureproducts.co.uk/ Hope this helps, Terry
Dam you got that stuff alot faster than i did looking well packed on the shower so what do you think of it now you have had your hands on it. Its a time test on it now see what it looks like in two years time👍 have a good weekend Terry
Hi Martyn, yes mate, it came much quicker than I was expecting. I'm really happy with it up to now, but like you say, we'll see how it performs over time. I have got a lot of media in there lol. It really surprised me just how much went in. Thanks mate and have a great Sunday. Terry.
Terry, hello again. A quick clarification please: what was the reason behind building the bakki shower? You have got the moving bed (aerobic environment) taking care of the ammonia/nitrites and I thought the bakki river you previously built was meant remove the nitrates from the system (anaerobic environment). Now the river has been removed and you added a supercharger aerobic piece of kit - the bakki shower. I would appreciate taking the time to answer. That bakki shower is like 1,000HP hahaha…looks so good. Cheers, Raz
Hi Raz, as you may know, I do like trying different things, and tinkering with pond filter systems. The reason for the change from the river was, I was still getting problems with nitrates, and so many people that just have a bakki shower told me they don't get any problems. Plus, so many people had ask me to build one as a DIY project, so I thought I'd have a go. I know a shower is mainly for aerobic bacteria, but it can also develop the anoxic bacteria in time. That's why I've jammed it with media, to cut down on the splashing. I hope this helps mate, thanks and take care, Terry.
Hi Gavin, The CNC's are good at what they do, but when they go wrong, their a right pain. Mine had me scratching my head I must admit lol. Take care and stay safe mate, Terry.
Shower looks a treat, well done 👍 Quick question where did you get your amalgam uv in your rdf filter from? I've just finished building mine from your plans and would like to fit one 😁
Hi Bob, and thanks mate. I got mine from Germany, but since Brexit they won't ship to the UK anymore. I think some pond suppliers have them, someone told me, but I'm not sure who mate, sorry. If you do fit one, have a look at my video of how I fitted it because they can fade the PP: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SdXT0-M3W4E.html Hope this helps mate. Terry.
Hi Bob, The length of my RDF clean side is 54cm, That's the length I had to get it in, and it just went in. They say the bulb is 42cm, but that's the full length of the bulb. The part that shines is only 30cm. So when you first put it in, it looks well short of keeping the drum clean. But to be fair, it keeps the drum clean apart from about 1 1/2 inches on one end. But I just give it a blast with my pressure washer once or twice a year. The bulbs are expensive, but they do last 2 years. You can see how it fitted in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zEckLmPwioM.html They won't ship to the UK now, but this is the one I bought: www.ebay.de/itm/324108988816?hash=item4b7666b190:g:MoIAAOSwGCBedK4L
Do you think it's maybe ponds athat are ehated that are having more algae problems? Only anecdotal obviously, but mine isnt heated, and I'd had no issues so far, usually by now I do? GReat vid as usual thanks for sharing
Hi mate, I don't think so, as loads of people that's not heated are having trouble. I think it might be because our winters are not as cold as they used to be, but who knows. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
Hi Nat, I have build plans for 3 different size filters, depending on your pond water volume. The Pro Mk2 or the Pro Midi can be gravity fed filters. You'll find them on my website: diypondfilters.com if you need further help or advice, you can contact me on pondfilters@gmail.com I'm here to help. thanks, Terry.
Can't you use a PVC T piece? just put in in the highest point of your return line and have a piece of pipe standing to ar least the hight of the bottom bake shower bin. All air in the pipe will escape and no more air lock.
