High Terry, Off Topic... watched your bog filter video. I have one and the water inlet is low down on the intake end and the water rises to near the top below the gravel level then flows to the other end where it exits at the top just below the gravel level back to the pond. All plants get enough water. Hope that helps 🙂
@Wrighty
@Wrighty Год назад
Hi Bob, thanks for the info mate. When I did it that way, I found that the water was 3" deeper on the inlet end to the other end. I did change mine so the water comes in along the bottom, and rises up through the gravel, and I have 2 outlets on the top which for me did work better. Thanks for the comment mate, take care, Terry.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Terry🤞🤞🤞. Saw one of mine flash for the first time yesterday but it was just after a significant bottom drain purge so going to see if there is any more today. Net, bowl and microscope (and PP) are at the ready in case something has broken out in the pond☹️. Must admit I hate treating the pond with anything, we spend so much time and effort building the beneficial bacteria up in our filters then have to destroy it with a treatment😢. Guess this is one of the joys of koi keeping🤔. Hope you are well, stay safe😊👍

Hi Phil, thanks mate, very much appreciated 👍👍I'm just the same as you mate, I hate adding treatments and chemicals to the pond. I was saying to Lau, I stood by the pond yesterday thinking, where do all these bloody parasites come from, and just then, a bloody great big wood Pigeon flew over and pooped in my pond 😲😲😲that answered my question😂😂. I'm not sure I had the PP strong enough, I did 7.5 grams per 1000 gallons, so I will be doing it again. Jamie says 2 grams per 1000 ltr which would have made it adding 20 grams instead of 15. Don't you just love this hobby😂😂 thanks again mate, take care, Terry.

I use more than stated Terry then leave it for the full 4 hours and also top it up if it starts turning brown…. I never use air to mix it just warm water and throw it in one go as half dosing doesn’t work as well…normal amount of air on the bottom drain and then nuke it with HP & ST on the 4 hours…. Works every time and then hit them with Fluke Treatment the next day if needed… never hurts the filters or plants…. Also it’s still working when brown so be careful. Be brave and go for it next time Terry you’ll be totally fine.

It tends to be costia that you get after fluke treatment but this time of year you can get any or all of the parasites. I haven't used pp in the pond for quite a long time. The goldfish used to hate it and they would try and get up into the trough around the edge of the pond. A lot of people use pp before treating for fluke as the pp with strip some of the slime coat and make the fluke treatment more effective. I can't comment on how successful that is as I have never done it myself. That cheap pipe is terrible stuff but I do normally get two years use out of it before it starts to split. I want to get rid of as much of it as I can this year. Where possible I want to go for solid pipe and only use very small sections of flexi pipe. Time will tell whether I manage that or not.
@Wrighty
@Wrighty Год назад
Hi Jim, I did do a second fluke treatment after the PP, but it looks like I still have a problem. There still flicking after all that. I have checked all water parameters and all's good, so another scrape is on the cards. This is turning into a right pain, to say the least. I wouldn't trust the flexy hose mate, but you may have the better make. What I had was total rubbish. When I took it out and tried to roll it up, it just kept snapping, it was that bad. Take care and stay safe mate, Terry.

Awesome job Terry, Ive used many treatments and nothing beats PP. Never had a fish loss either, its brilliant stuff and super cheap. At the recommended dose on the packet its brilliant to freshen up the water, then neutralise after the 4 hours with HP just to remove the brown tint. The next day the fish are coming up wanting more food than ever 🙂 For parasites best to use at 2.5ppm if not experienced with it and neutralise again after 4 hours with HP. Normally wipes everything pretty much first dose. Aslong as you know your pond volume, you wont go wrong with it. Ive also used it in conjuction with salt which usually kills everything and never had an issue that way either. Just remember to use plenty of airation as it strips the oxygen from the water. Skeggy has just done a brilliant video recently on this and he does it the same way i always have. Hope your parasite free now though Terry 😃Loving the content you put out, brilliant stuff 👍
@Wrighty
@Wrighty Год назад
Hi Adam, and thanks mate. Wow! that's some great info mate thank you. I only did the recommended dose, and it only lasted 2 hours. So I'm still seeing some flicking from the koi. I may have to dose again. I dosed at 6.8 gram per 1000 gallon, I maybe needed it a little stronger, but was trying to be careful. Knowing it can be used with salt is good to know, thank you. really appreciated mate 👍👍
@Ads-1991
@Ads-1991 Год назад
@@Wrighty No probs at all Terry loving your content 🙂Yes so you used the 1.5ppm as on the packet. I use this dosage just to freshen up the water and unfortunately havent had success with this dosage on parasites. If you still have issues id do 2.5ppm in a week or so, if the water goes a browny colour in the 4 hours add 1-1.5ppm pp again and neutralise after 4 hours from the start of treatment with HP 6% at 25ml per 1000 uk litres (this is the same dosage as the Kusuri HP) and ive found it still works fine on higher dosages of PP. I dont know if you know, but theres an awesome calculator online to work out the dosages for you, just type in your pond volume of water and the required PPM you want and it will work out how many grams of PP you require. Heres the link for the PP one for future reference: www.koiphen.com/forums/koicalcs.php?do=calcpp
