@@chriscornell8810 What are you even talking about, there are closures! Just play differently, of course in this ending and playthrough, the gith don't give a shit about the others...
honestly the emperor had a huge stick up his arse, he could have worked together with orpheus and no one had to become a mindflayer and both Emperor and Orpheus can get their freedom, it's almost a perfect ending there
I think the emperor is a manipulative bastard BUT I also think one of the few times were he tells the truth is when it comes to orpheus wanting to kill him. God knows how long orpheus has been trapped there, and then literally used by a coniving, manipulative ILITHID. I highly doubt you could smash it and orpheus didnt give an ultimatum either him or the squid.
@@lunasllenas1997 I think that he's been trapped there for a pretty long time, but the Emperor used him only approximately since the story has started. It's mentioned in Gortash's diaries that the whole nautiloid mission was started to steal the prism from the githyanki.
@@lunasllenas1997 Orpheus would have certainly been pissed, but he was also pissed at us when we freed him and he still recognized that there were greater concerns than killing the Emperor. He also acknowledged that the Emperor was right in that they needed an illithid, so even if Orpheus wanted revenge he would have held off until after the Netherbrain was defeated. So no, I think the Emperor wanted Orpheus dead but with the benefit of his power so that there would be no threat from the Netherbrain OR from Orpheus afterwards, and when he wouldn't get that he decided to side with the Netherbrain.
I must say I like it better when Orpheus becomes a mindflayer. He gives Lae'zel his dragon for her to overthrow Vlaakith and I totally see her become the Queen of her people which could be an entire spinoff, addon or DLC.
@@richardshiflett5181 She and her companions just took out a Netherbrain. That's one of the highest deeds you can do in githyanki society. Say it's canon that Kith'rak Voss witnessed it you have one of the highest ranked Githyanki on your side and tons of source material (all the discs you found and Lae'zels story itself). She could find help with the Githzerai or many other forces who are in conflict with Vlaaktih. Orpheus last words when you make him a mindflayer is that he names Lae'zel leader of the Githyanki in his stead so she is his heir. Your Tav and her are legendary heroes at this point.
@@Tarfyen2 i think you are missing the point, it DOESN'T matter what you did or who you did it with. You and Lae'zel aren't GITH's own blood. Orpheus is. Only He can unite the Githyanki and Maybe the Githzerai against Vlaakith.
@@richardshiflett5181Orpheus might be the saviour of Githyanki, but his magic is too powerful for a mortal. Yes, with his help Githyanki can slay Vlaakith and even mindflayers as a race completely. But what then? Firstly, they turn their attention to githzerai, because the only thing, that connected them, the hatred towards illithids, is gone, and yanki will probably start a war against zerai. (I personally love githzerai, they are more independent and fair than cruel militaristic githyanki, they should force some sense into yanki) And then, the giths will probably start enslaving other races. Remember, they're one of the most racist species existing. So, with Orpheus' powers they can become another unstoppable destructive force for all the planes, just as illithids with Nether Brain. That's how I see the situation personally. And, moreover, Lae'zel seems like a really special and sympathetic githyanki, unlike most of her kin, so judging them by Lae'zel is kinda wrong. But she can become the leader who will be able to make them even greater not just in terms of power, but of morals too.
@@хахатун That's wild assumptions, nothing in Orpheus demeanor suggest he consider war as the only valid path of life. He intend to reform his people, not just overthrow Vlaakith. And Lae'zel isn't the only empathic zankis, there are others, we have seen a few, it's Vlaakith that encourage a system racist, violent and cruel. Also, it's cute that you assume they will be able to destroy the Illithids. It's not like the Zerais, the Yankis and Vlaakith haven't been trying since thoussands and thoussands of years. Heck, there is not even a guarantee they will susccesfully dethrone Vlaakith.
Thank you, a thousandfold! I was trying to find this scenario for DAYS, you even got Karlach as a Mind Flayer instead of Orpheus! Amazing, I will now try to reach this ending myself :D
Karlach is doomed no matter what. If she becomes a mind flayer she loses her soul, and soon. If she doesn't, either her engine burns out and kills her, or she has to go back to the hells. It's sad.
@@stevenyukabacera160 Is it really such a dreadful place I mean it's a place of endless war and under realm creatures torturing and killing. Fun it is.
@@stevenyukabacera160 If she turns mindflayer she still dies. When you turn mindflayer you essentially die and get replaced by an illithid that thinks it's you.
@@stevenyukabacera160 She can go back with Wyll (and Tav if they decide to join). Going back isn't ideal, but it gives her time, there's hope that things might be better in the future, and she has friends both in Hell and back in Faerun, something she didn't have before. It's a massively preferable end.
easy. I forced orpheus to become one after he was improsined for decades. And when he fought the netherbrain, i betrayed him and stabbed him to death ...
It’s a hard choice for sure I hope there eventually becomes a third option later down the line. I didn’t like the empire that much but that could be because I got really into the role play aspect playing a githyanki character lol
To me, freeing Orpheus, Karlach becoming the squid and letting Lae'zel fight vs Vlaakith is the canon ending for them. Next time I'm the DM in a TTRPG session the PCs will be mercenaries in the "War in the Sky", as the gith civil war is called, now, in my head.
I feel like convincing Laezel to stay in Faerun as an adventurer is a better ending for her character arc. Going with Orpheus, while more morally palatable than Vlaakith, is just her trading her chains for a different set and once again giving up all her individuality. On the other hand, no cool dragon so whose to say which is better.
@@MrDracolucassos Especially since the lore confirms a mindflayer does not have the original person’s soul, it just copies their personality and such. So that would mean Karlach is dead after all. Her charging forward to fight imps and demons with Wyll and/or Tav is way more satisfying.
I played as Astarion and romanced Karlach. It broke my heart how Astarion just darted away and left her to die at the dock. It's just not right. I am actually really mad at this game for those stupid endings.
@@hpenvy1106oh yes so it's dumb that a vampire was trying not to burn to death while the romanced companion of his made the choice to burn their heart out and die. So dumb that it was explained to us numerous times for the character's story arc and it happened because you refused to pay attention to 2 plotlines and wanna live in your delusional dream land story telling
I wonder what the cutscene is like if you’re a gith and romanced lae zel but Orpheus is a mind flayer. Do you both get your own dragons if you mercy kill Orpheus?
Not sure but as a gith who did not romance lae zel and had Orpheus become the mind flayer, i was not given an option to ride back to the Astral Plane. Karlach's dialogue bugged out so i had to pick between Orpheus and myself...
I think its better that gale becomes a mindflayer. At least he has a vhance of returning from it if he is told to surrender the netherese crown and crystals to mystra. She will then offer to restore his form and return him to the sword coast.
I really wish we could have joined them if we romanced Laezel not as a githyanki but I’ll just have to have it be my headcanon that my bard Tav and Laezel go and join the rebellion or that later on the rebellion comes to them for help later on
Finally someone where i can see this ending 👍🏻 Just curious what happens when you are in a relationship with the other companions. Did you just leave them?
I have heard that only githyanki characters can climb the dragon. Something to do with the astral plane maybe? But have not tested what happens if you romance Lae'Zel and try to come with them
I don't really care for options that have laezel not help Orpheus. I couldn't enjoy freedom if I kept it all for myself, and didn't share it with others first.
The dumbest part of this ending is if you've romanced Bae'zel the entire time as a non-gith, you can't go with her. You can convince her to stay with you, but you know her, she wants to fight for her people. So why can't you, a non-gith, and her start a new chapter for the giths that isn't xenophobic and militaristic? Lae'zel shows time and again that despite their upbringing, githyanki can change their viewpoints based on evidence and kindness. She can fall in love and even find appreciation (sunrises, for example) for things she was taught to hate. She has such a wonderful growth her in character, to see it just fizzle out at the end is just such a wasted opportunity imo.
Yeh, they have a huge civil war to fight that will likely last for longer then their lifetimes to win. You can’t start off progressive change without winning that war first. In fact something like that would harm your claim to the seat of power as Orpheus. A monumental undertaking like that would have zero reason to take a progressive risk to recruitment to their cause because a single person wants to continue their fling with their guthyanki girlfriend. This actually makes sense in the reality of what they are about to undertake. It would be dumber to make your happy ending the reality.
If you play co-op, are there multiple endings for each individual player? I would love to see my githyanki ride of into the sun and my friends still be able to get their Karlach/shadowheart endings.
It makes sense if you understand Emperor's motivation and perspective. He's not interested in stopping the Netherbrain per se, he's only interested in self preservation. He'd broken free of Elder Brains before so he assumes he can do it again, but Orpheus is the strongest anti-Illithid weapon to ever exist, his freedom is a existential threat to all Illithids. when you're thinking in the long term and your only goal is your own survival, then siding with the Netherbrain in that moment makes sense.
no many other species can and do travel the Astral Sea, humans included. The Githyanki are just somewhat zenophobic as you should have figured already. Its entirely possible that Orpheus and / Lae'Zel would allow Tav to join them if Tav could have asked. The Githyanki make thier home in the Astral so thats where they feel at home. It also means that so long as they ( or any species) live in the Astral, they do not age.@@osamabinlaggin3281
For me there is only 1 best Ending (This is my ending as well) Stole Orphic Hammer and Kill Raphael; Free Orpheus, damn such a chill and nice guy; Karlach Become a Mind Flayer (Save herself from the Infernal Engine and touch everyone with those tentacles like she's always wanted for the past 2 decades); Romance Shadowheart so she's not drowning and learned how to swim LMAO Lae'Zel and Orpheus going to bring Vlaakith Empire Down, and fulfill her dreams to ride the Red Dragon. Too bad The Emperor become an enemy, he could've believe, after all what he's doing to be free from Elder Brain influence, he just decided to join the one he avoid just like that, i think it's just a lazy writing at this point.
i saw a playthrough where the emperor revealed he was actually mind-controlling Duke Stelmane and he was trying to control us as well to do his bidding. I think going against the emperor was actually the right thing to do.
So Baldurs Gate 4 will either be the Githyanki Rebellion War against Vlaakith. Or the battle against Raphael that comes knocking at Faerûn door. Both would be epic.
You have to say to Orpheus that you won't become a mind flayer while Karlarch is in your party. Karlach will step in after you announce that and suggest it's for the best for her to do it.
Not at the moment after this scene it just cuts to the Narration over Baldur’s gate saying how you saved the city. Would have loved if it should them arriving in the astral plane and showed one more romance scene.
Poor Karlach had to take the fall for this proper ending. No Mindflayer and Karlach going with Wyll would be top tier for me but it someone has to do it. And to get this ending its the one drawback. At least she gets to stay in Baldurs Gate. But finding some ass will prove difficult.
This is not a good ending. Best ending is to turn Orpheus to mindflayer and go with Karlach to Avernus , get blueprints for her engine from Zariel(patch6) and then have Dammon fix her. Why have the gith at full strength with Orpheus , they will invade at some point.
Personally I consider anything involving your character destroying the nether brain to be a good ending (heroic) and anything involving your character controlling the brain to be a bad ending (evil). Narrative wise it doesn’t seem that Orpheus is ever planning on doing that his primary goal is to free the githyanki from vlaakith. I also was very much into the rp aspect on my first playthrough and as a githyanki I wanted to save my prince. I do like your ending though I did it in my second playthrough as a dark urge character it’s the better ending for Karlach for sure
You have to steal the Orpheic hammer from the house of hope to free Orpheus, afterwards you let karlach become the mindflayer when the choice to become one happens. At the very ending though you will need to be a githyanki in order to leave with Lae’zel to the astral plane
In my Gith run I refused to go back to the astral plane and talked lae'zel out of going too. I also let orpheus take the bullet and become a mind flayer. I figured this way - Orpheus was ungrateful, rude, and incompetent. He had spent millennia stuck inside of a happy fun ball and couldn't even get himself out. I resolved that shit in like a week, and then he yelled at me for it. There's no way that useless idiot is going to take down vkaakith's empire. And they certainly don't deserve lae'zel's help. all the other gith ever did for her was gaslight her and treat her like crap. The gith and vlaakith deserve each other.
the fact that he was immediately willing to sacrifice himself to destroy the grand design shows that he is very selfless tho, considering how he turns into ghaik, and i dont need to explain how a gith turning into a mind flayer would be absolutely repulsive for a gith. also a big generalization by saying every other gith, considering she had only been to like, 2 creches
Good ending? I told the toad emperor guy to turn himself into a mind flayer (I ain't turning myself or the girls into a fish). Then I used Gale as a nuclear weapon. He saved us with the teleportation spell he had beforehand like the hero he was. Then I told the toad emperor guy that I would not kill him even though he's a mind flayer because...I'm a Paladin so...how could I kill an innocent?? lol. Of course I also convinced Lae'zel (with a nat 20) to stay with us drinking and fucking at camp with me and Jenevell...instead of leading her people like the bald toad wanted. So...he transformed into a mind flayer, the Lich Queen won't be overthrown by Lae'zel aaaand had no other choice than to off himself :v To me...after all I've been through...that...was a good ending.
Your ending I’d consider one of the good ones as well, anything involving saving Baldur’s gate is a good ending vs taking the crown and ruling over Baldur’s gate would be one of the bad endings. I just named the video that way just to show what specific good ending I got, not necessarily that mine was the Definitive good ending. At the time I wasn’t seeing my ending uploaded anywhere because not many people play as githyanki and this is an exclusive ending if you play as a githyanki.
@@michaeldevoe4996 Does she actually stay with you if you convince her, being a mindflare as a githyanki? Saw there was an option, but everyone is chosing to help Orpheus fight Vlaakith
