For people saying that Shadowheart was Dark Urge in Early Access, you are wrong. Tav was separated from Dark Urge at one point in EA, but he was always Dark Urge because he is the main character. The dreams we had in EA also talk about our character, that he has bloodlust, etc. The voices talking in Shadowheart's head were probably a separate plot that was then abandoned (like many others, such as Raven Queen). Saying Shadowheart was Dark Urge makes no sense. Edit: As someone else said in the comments - voices were from the artefact.
What if everyone was supposed to be a Bhaalspawn? Think about it. The first two games had two Bhaalspawn characters. Baldur's Gate 3 might have been about these guys coming together from the start. Damn that would have been interesting. At any point, you might be shanked by someone, and whoever you neglect as a companion might try to kill you because there is nothing compelling them to act against Bhaal. And then Tav would make sense because he wouldn't be so different from everyone and effectively a faceless character
Jea. I wouldnt have liked to be forced to live with dark urge or kill shadow heart. As optional origin character you can choose by your own and it also hits much harder if you are the one doing those bad things. Still definitely really interesting idea!

Honestly, I thought this was her intro if you leave her on the nautiloid and have to run into her later. It wouldn’t even be that difficult to make it work.
@@NoxLegend1 errmm no, it's because that is literally dark urge, the whispers in her head are referencing the urge, they deleted it cos they made it into a full background for the player char
unlikely, there's just too much about her that screams Shar, it's too much for her to not be her cleric - unless they wanted the Dark Urge to be connected do Shar, and not Baal
Not really, God's in the world of DnD come in a wide range, in this case Shadowheart "worship's" Shar. Shar is an evil goddess, also known as goddess of the moon, she uses illusions lies and deceit, some of her followers are brainwashed and based on Shadowheart's designed she is most likely one of them (while her armour and tiara are cool looking you can see details such as chains that look kinda restricting)
In context it's also super crazy, lol. Random woman shows up at your heart saying voices are telling her to murder you, says all she can think about is the knife plunging deep, blood, so much blood.... then as she reaches for the knife you hit her with a "Pull up a bedroll, wanna hang out?" Haha
This scene completely changes my perspective of her. I thought that she had the magical equivalent of dissociative amnesia, but this could be magical dissociative identity disorder. The cult of shar and magically induced amnesia make it hard to distinguish between trauma affecting her from magic and plot armor.
She isnt suffering from an identity disorder. The whispers are simply the Absolute mind controlling her. I assume this scenario happens if you somehow took the prism from her and told her to go on her own at the start of the game. So essentially she is becoming like the other true souls like Minthara, Dror Ragzlin etc. Because the prism protects the player from not just becoming a mind flayer but also the mind control. But the prism doesnt instantly take away the Absolute’s voice as was the case for Minthara. Unknowingly you spend a prolonged time close to her when you raid the grove. So by the time you celebrate victory with her in camp she no longer hears the whispers either and partly returns to her old self when she shares a romantic monent with the player.
@@jackychen6261 the game explicitly tell you that the whispers don't come from the parasite, which by extension would mean the Absolute. it's something else entirely.
Damn,this explains why the Dream Visitor entrusted you with everything. Hells...he was torturing the poor girl only to make her go reach the Tav,then let her fate be Tav's decision...dead or not,Shadowheart's inconsequential to the bigger players...
It is kind of creepy when you think that those "voices" and images she's seeing that compels her to seek Tav could be interpreted as the programming of the game forcing her to follow the script and join our group.
well having completed the game im still completely confused by this scene. i dont know what else it COULD be than the programming. It doesnt seem to be shar or she'd know, and its not the tadpole. Im not sure we even get this scene in the final release though, so it could just be a different direction the character took.
@declancampbell1277 I'm pretty sure it was just meant to be the guardian. There's hints that character was meant to be more messy in a prior version, that's also probably why they're so vague once you meet them, a chunk of their personality got cut. And seeing how Shadowheart is a lot more stubborn than most, I can imagine them going full "YOU WON'T SLEEP TILL YOU OBEY" on them. Lae'zel too but she joins you asap anyway so no need for torture by the guardian.
@@declancampbell1277 This scene is gone, it doesn't fit the current narrative. (It can't be absolute because artifact is hiding you from them, it can't be the guardian, since their agenda was changed and it can't be shar)
This szene is a great proof that not all cut content is just because they didnt finish the game or so. Sometimes you just change the stoey and due to this decision cut everithing what doesnt fit to it. Ready or not doesnt matter...
This is why I didn't play much of the EA. Knew it was going to be good in the end, and I didn't want to become too attached to plots and stories that likely weren't sticking around.
Should've kept this scene. At least it makes senses why she's forced into our party rather than the current game where the devs keep teleporting her to locations all over act 1 so they could railroaded her to be in your party or you wouldn't be able to advance to the next act.
This was most likely a plot line where shadowheart was corrupted by the Absolute ? Seems with her fainting, you might have been able to save her. Always interesting to see what gets cut or not!
Well I mean your entire group has miniature Cthulhus growing in your head that give you mental powers and voices inside your head. So just another friday for your group.

Right because the Gith fighter that religiously follows an evil god queen, the vampire that reveals himself as he tries to bite you in your sleep and the wizard with a bomb in his chest are much better traveling companions 😂 they're all unhinged in their own way
Hope they fix the animations in the final game. This is a year old clip now, and still in the newest videos, the characters are wavering like leaves in the wind :S
A lot of Animations got fixed already since the EA started. And the EA stoped getting Updates around half a year ago I think. Realy wonder how 1.0 gonna look

Everyone is supposed to be stronger than level 1. Gale and Wyll have a banter together where they talk about how they used to be much tougher pre tadpole.
Well if you have a relic and she have not. There could been such a scene. Or if she still has a relic and is far away, that you and your party members would all slowly go mad. It would have made such a better sense lore-wise. Because you might feel thst this relic csn do something but you would be not sure and after she shields you wirh it on a bridge to goblins camp it could have been a big relief. Also if your companion leaves party for an extended time could hsve went insane or turned into a mind flayer. Ssd thst they hsve rushed this game snd in the end its emersion have suffered.
It doesn’t make sense because she was originally meant to be the Dark Urge. That’s why the voices are driving her mad, she’s being told to kill you because of that, not the Absolute.
you know now that I think about it... the game tries to claim to me that its Shadowhearts artifact that "protects" me from becoming a tentacle monster... but that can't be right considering how easy it would be to leave both shadowheart AND the artefact... then again in the Last Light Inn Tav pulled the artifact out of her ass to show it off, despite leaving it with Shadowheart...
So…the tad poles want these people to be together. God but why? Wouldn’t it be easier to control them when they are alone rather then a group? Also why bother with this group particularly. So many question

Well no. Dark Urge was the original player character. Shadowheart was either led there by the artefact (at this point, the Emperor was not yet revealed as a character. It's unclear if he was designed at all at the time), or she was another bhaalspawn and not a selunite.
Why is every character in Baller's get 3 have some sort of psychological malfunction?? It's like there 8 year old kids Absolutely no maturity whatsoever
@@omgfro sometimes the player character can push some boss characters to ledge to quickly end fights but it brings no loot . Lava is nerve weakness or the barrelmancy
Shadowheart is such a wild card in every interaction. One moment she is nice, other moment she is a stuck up bish, then she becomes full of herself or lost wtf is wrong with her😂 Neve bothered adding her to my party. Useless as hell
Is it possible to get this in the full game? Or did they decide to take her character a different route? Because this seems interesting compared to what we get currently, where she's closer to the voice of reason in the group and the calm logical one. If so thats very interesting that they decided to change that about her.
yeah i'd be eager to find out, because having finished this game theres 0 that points to what these voices could be. Its not her goddess, and its not the tadpole. Maybe the "dream protector", but if so why were the whispers so violent?
@@juice6521 If you ignore her at the catacombs, she goes to the grove. If you ignore her there, she confronts you on the bridge to the goblin camp. I haven't been able to get her to come to my campsite like in the video.

I played ea like 2021 Jan. I hate looking at her face. She is annoying too. Will try to not have her in party if possible. And trickster cleric is boring.
Doubt. As far as I know, default Tav was supposed to be Dark Urge (without making it separate origin). I think it was Daisy speaking to Shadowheart, somehow. Or... it was just plot line which was abandoned later in development.
