Now imagine stupid one dnd where you can only smite once per turn. Also you can't cast spells after using smite. Glad it's 5e and not that trashy one system.
Paladin enters the room. He is greeted by an ancient, evil god -“Do your worst, Paladin.” - It says Paladin full of courage and resolve starts juggling 😅
Sin I've been following your showcase since Pillars of Eternity era, then Divinity era, then BG3 Early Access era, and now full release BG3. Got to say, your guide / showcase are truly perfect and your videos are constantly getting better. While others are struggling with 4 party member, you somehow find a way to do it solo. To be fair in Divinity you can stack buffs/pre-buffs, you can delay your turn so that when you actually get to move you can move twice, plus Adrenaline + Apotheosis + Skin Graft loop etc. In BG3, you can only concentrate on 1 spell and that is huge, surely Sin can't stack buffs like he did in Divinity right? Well you showed me (or us) wrong. I bet the dev also surprised that their game can be played like this. At this point, I think Larian should hire you to showcase their next project or next BG3 expansion even, but if that's too much of a copium, then a daily dose of Sin video would be appreciated as well. Keep up the good work Sin, you are inspiring a lot of gamer who are new to CRPG genre. Cheers.
Solo is easier than full party - no clue what you are talking about. It was easier to solo in DOS2 and is easier in this game as well. It’s much harder with a full party period. As proof that what you’re saying is a myth - I used a baseline time full party and then soloed with different characters. Every solo time was faster than the baseline full party time. There are a ton of reasons why it is but the times are the proof what you’re saying is nonsense.
I was going to say does it count as solo if Aylin is smiting the boss? But she didn't even get a turn. Keep being op af, it's amazing. Would like to see some builds that don't rely too much on temporary buffs, as well
It’s the way the game works. If you didn’t use temporary buffs, It would feel like trash and play like it. You mainly use temporary buffs on big fights not the smaller ones.
Depends I guess, this is a nova build using sorc n the OP potion options this game offers u. While the normal pallock is a more general build with 2 extra atk and spell slots on short rest. tl:dr: sorcadin is nova bursting one fight, and pallock is consistent in everyfight
The two attacks on short rest with warlock don't carry you through multiple encounters any more then the many slots given by being a sorc multi class. You long rest just as much with either build.@@greenlitlleman
Psa everyone according to his steam profile: "Unfortunately my PC ran into some technical issues the past few days, a hard drive is also lost in the process and i'm currently still trying to sort things out. Because of this, build guides from me, will be coming probably much later than i'd have liked." This was from last week, expect build guides months from now unfortunately.
And 14 tadpoles waiting to be used. Impressive, as always, Sin Tee. Also noticed that you did not have Permanent See Invisibility eye from Volo. Any reason why you did not opt for it? Just asking. Still, would love to see a proper 1-12 leveling build guide for this.
Volo eye is great, it offers See Invisibility and has no gameplay downside but because my character has demon eyes, and volo eye is a regular one, it look very distracting in dialogues.
This was the hardest fight for me so far. Even had to savescum a little cuz my two characters were down and I only had my sorcerer and Astarion, barely made it
For me it went rather surprisingly well: at turn 4 Myrkul was at 7 HP and party was pretty damaged, so I decided to save my gith fighter so we can complete him next turn and suddenly he hits her with opportunity attack and gets 9 damage proc from several items and just dies.
The cambion summon you get from Wyll freeing Mizora before the fight solo'd the bosses while Shadowheart buffed him, Karlach throw-weapon cleared the adds and I (sorc/warlock) sprinkled a few debuffs in there.
sin tee please drop another one of these sorcadin videos they're amazing, and it's just amazing to play along. all the other bg3 builds are really terrible compared to yours don't leave us wanting!!!
Nice lol, 3rd hit on Apostle of Mirkul is a lucky crit (not from luck of the far realms or executioner ring) but even without this, it probably pass real 1 turn both Ketheric and Apostle, that critx3 from HalfOrc is brutal. I didn't know the drakethroat glaive could be used like that, i'll have to do a few experiments. Dash before initiate dialog and still active after ? (haste pot changed from 3 turns to 2 turns and action/bonus action refreshed but dash still here ?!) this is quite welcomed for the 20m move (i just jumped bye bonus action) My strat for this fight was quite similar (solo half drow devotion paladin 8 14 16 8 10 18 lvl 10 after 1st encounter same weapon and potion of cloud giant + stack as many additional dmg as possible on the weapon) but it took one more turn. (mirror image scroll -> 30 AC + helm that give spell saves +2)
None of the pally oaths matter for this build. You can pick whatever oath you want or be an oathbreaker. This build is all about fat smites and all paladins have access to smite.
Question: Why Sorc? I didn't see you using anything for it in the video? Surely just Pala would be fine too? But great vid! Love seeing you break this game like you did DOS2
Sorc is for spell slots for smite (and also that shield reaction, but that wasn't really essential), keeping paladin pure is kind of pointless for what you get compared to multiclassing it with either warlock or sorc.
No, try it. Pure paladin is awful. I tried it and ran out of smites. Lacks versatility and movement as well. Sorcadin and bardadin feel really op in comparison. Plus if you accidentally break your oath, the sorcadin and other types of multi class make the oath break kind of irrelevant.
it is not all it seems to be. If you are using a weapon with a single dice it all works nice 3d12 on a crit but if using a weapon that is say 2d6 then you end up with 4d6 on your crit. This does not leave you with alot of weapon choice if you are trying to min max the racial. Once you factor that in and the available weapons in the game other racials start to look pretty appealing.
Sometimes the party members following me get me into sticky situations that I almost remade a playthrough to go solo. I wanna still do the owlbear off the top rope cheese though
Githzerai Mind Barier: first you need to solve the Necrotic Laboratory puzzle, grab Waking Mind behind the door it opene and put in on Mind Archive Interfact in a room nearby. Interact with the head and you will the buff permanently. Blessing of Selunes: is only a story-related buff, granted in Act 2 to protect the party from the shadow curse.
That Executioner ring and luck of the far realms providing auto crits for smite is why I assume why Larian added more enemies that reflect Radiant Damage from twofold to up to threefold on act 3 lol. Also I don't think neither a level 3-4 Sorc nor a Level 6 paladin would normally have access to level 3 spells yet. Where do the level 3 spell slots come from?
Did this fight lvl 9 with 2 paladins (PC and Minthara). Myrkul himself was easy and died in 2 turns (although it took me one to get to him from the lowground. The first phase was a pain though....I had Drider alive and he was a huge nuiscensce and I wasn't fully recovered after clearing the tower, with no pre-buffs. Made for a fun fight worth like 5 attempts. Although I still feel like game's too easy, since I don't know DnD ruleset and was playing on Tactician. Or maybe the pallys are simply overpowered :S But then again I'm playing Tavern Brawler monk - feels strong af as well. So I dunno.
2 paladins and 1 tavern brawling monk You can see the problem here I would recommend playing games like this without build guides so u dont feel compulsive to do them
But yeah this game is still pretty easy for most However there are still players that struggles in explorer mode. Its just different for everybody If u dont do op builds for ur 1st playthrough itll still be pretty smooth with some difficulties along the way
@@ABizzareJoe also it depends which paths you take in the story. It'll add or remove features to the fight that would not otherwise not be present. If you guys think the game is too easy, maybe don't play with hyper optimized one dimensional builds. If you can't kill enemies within one turn, eventually the action economy will play against you. phase 1 starts with 6 undead + ketheric + fireball slinging wizard + pet dog + karliss (if you went the evil route) . Aylin itself is not present if you make Shadowheart follow the call of Shar. And ketheric itself does some nasty divine smites as well. it looks like i missed a lot of useful items along the way. but even with everything i have including oils, potions and scrolls, i could not just pull this off.
For me scrolls of haste are glitched. Used Astarion to cast one on my paladin. He got attacked twice but never hit (27 ac no mirror image) and still somehow he decided to not concentrate.
@@alfarabi73 Warlock is stronger due to a bug. The pact weapon extra attack and Paladin lvl 5 extra attack should not stack but do. Also, using the pact weapon will have you use your charisma modifier for attack and damage rolls. As he used the cloud giant elixir in the 2nd encounter, that would've been a whooping -4 to attack and damage.
Yea it'll be for more and stronger spell slots. A level 10 pure paladin would only have 3rd level slots and only 2 of them. This is because the game considers Paladin to be a Half spellcaster so every 2 paladin levels = 1 caster level in terms of slots. When multiclassing, you add the spell caster levels together to see what slots you would have, in this case it is 6 levels of Paladin so 3 Spellcaster levels + 4 Spellcaster levels from 4 levels of Sorcerer = 7 Spellcaster Levels giving him 1x 4th Level slot and 3x 3rd Level slots vs Paladin 10 (5 Spellcaster Levels) only offering 2x 3rd Level slots.
@@alfarabi73 With the spread he went for in the video, Paladin 6 | 4, going for Warlock would only offer him 2 spell slots at 2nd level strength vs 1x 4th level slot and extra 1x 3rd level slot from Sorcerer. Warlock would probably be better for the convivence of getting them back on short rests, however he's attempting to kill boss fights solo utilising everything he can so stronger burst and long rest after appears to be the strategy he wants. If he was a level higher and went 6 Paladin | 5 Warlock, it would probably be stronger than 6 Paladin | 5 Sorcerer as the Warlock spell slots would then be 3rd level and come back on a short rest as well as a current bug with Warlock's Pact Weapon would allow for a 3rd attack per action.
Last time i tested, Shrieking Sword Song works on both wearer and allies but Singing Sword Song only benefits allies, so the Barb carrying it won't get to benefit 1d4 bonus to attack rolls.1d4 Thunder to each attacks could be ncie too, you can just toss in Oil of Accuracy or Sharpness. Otherwise, when other things comes together as you intended then it looks strong and fun to play. I haven't ran into Grit Helmet and Ring of Regeneration yet, maybe in Act 3.
@@sintee106 I tried in camp, and when using the song, i had the skill buff icon (the sword and notes) so i thought it works on self. I havent had a chance to test it out in a better way. Some elixirs could work best then. Where could you get the 1d4 thunder from then ? Also i realized u can get to +6 strenght with just hag air + ASI + the vigor potion (17+1+2+2) so you could wear the flowed helldusk gloves for another 1d4 fire more. Grit helmet is a very rare (purple) item that u will find in act 3. The ring is also act 3 sold by a merchant.
More smites. You get smites at level 2 paladin. Don’t forget you can convert sorc points into spell slots. I don’t think he did here but but sorc gets you more spell slots. He was using spells… smites. He had used half his smites at 1:26. I just spec into paladin level 6 and only have 6 spell slots for pally. Now I respec again and have 2 levels of pally and 3 levels of sorc and I have 7 spell slots for smite. Towards the end, you can add fireball and so forth to polish it. He did a 27 min. Vid on this actually. Lastly, he has 10 smites already in this vid. He used 5 smites. The weakness of paladin isn’t damage, it’s lack of smites. Plus I see he buffed with haste. You need sorc, wizard, or bard for that.
Fighter classes (ranger, paladin, fighter, barbarian) have second attack at some level + haste (1 more action = 2 more attacks) + potion of bloodlust (+1 more action), so 4-6 attacks per turn + paladin's divine smite on hit.
The best build i create só far was wizard 5, cleric tempest 3, sorcerer 4, with mind flayer free cast, you can melt everithyng with chain lightning and tempest cleric channel divinity, not to mention ifinite sorcery points and level 5 spell slots
After watching this vid I am glad that I am of average intelligence and have average knowledge about this game's mechanics, at least that way I get nail-biting and thrilling fights. It seems like if you know everything about this game the gameplay itself is rather boring.
how many attempts do you think it took for him to figure this fight out and start one shotting it? People watch the showcase video and never think of the work that went into figuring it all out.
isn't it more efficient to dump strength for other stats and just use giant potions? there are more than enough in the game if you don't long rest after every fight love your videos
You can reach lv10 by finish every side quest, If I’m correct you can get lv10 even before step to the moonrise tower by play normally don’t require to kill the everything npc.
I got to lvl 10 by doing everything in acts 1 and 2, including... [SPOILER ALERT] . . . . . . . ... failing to save Isobel in the Last Light Inn. That causes the selunite shield to fall and everyone, except Jaheira, to become undead. So I had to kill everyone and got lots of exp from that lol
aside from spell slots what else are the benefits from sorc, i feel like if youre playing for spell slots warlock with the short rest higher level spell slots is better
I wonder how manye tries you had for this perfect rolls. in my game I often i roll double 1 on advanteage and enemies roll nat 20 with disadvantage against my 22 AC in first turn of combat...
Around level 9 , Elixir of Cloud Giant Str and it ingredients start appearing in alchemy traders like: Derryth in Underdark (Myconid Colony) or Araj Oblodra (Moonrise Tower). I didn't get far into Act 3 yet, but as long as it has a trader specializes in Alchemy stuffs, Elixir of Cloud Giant can appear there. (You can long rest to reset their wares if you want to stock up on them)
Do you think the game is too easy? I'm not exactly min-maxing, and even tho I stumble upon encounters, they usually don't pose much of a struggle, even though I know nothing about the fights, and I get "surprised" often.
Even on tactician it's far easier than DOS2, I've gone in blind and didn't really have any problems. As you've said there are a few fights I had to reload after seeing the "trick" but otherwise it was smooth sailing without a minmaxed build.
It does, for the most part there are just too many magic items, making itemization really get out of hand, even just by Act 1 alone. Tactican statblock for enemies however doesn't really quite scale up to that. Other part is non boss-encounters don't offer any real challenge. While player characters keep getting access to more powerful gear and spell, the average enemies don't know how to use their actions/spells as effective as players, especially at high levels. Only bosses themselves have interesting mechanics and be a threat but once they're down, rest of the supporting enemies just falls apart. Boss-related achievements reflects it as well: rush a boss before they can do their things. I can see newer players who are completely new to CRPG and still learning the 5e system would enjoy the current difficulty however.
LMAO, over leveled, you mean he is actually playing all the content.......... If you are a super low level at later stages of the game it means you have missed most of the game.
@@Average1212 narratively I don't see the point of playing all the content. I'm not gonna go kill hag when I got a bug in my head, I'm gonna do bug head stuff, maybe a bit of side quest to help an NPC I like, and fuck off. Plus, now I get to see new shit on my second playthrough instead of the same scenes both times.
Halberd of Vigilance is used as main weapon, Drakethroat Glaive is used to buff Elemental Weapon on it, in the second encounter. Halberd of Vigilance is sold by the bugbear trader in Moonrise Tower, Drakethroat Glaive is sold by Roah Moonglow who also another trader in Moonrise Tower.
This game just clearly is not balanced properly. i have no experience with table top DnD, i just played the games bladurs gate 1 and 2. I mean you are just so blatantly overpowered even at the start of the game, past level 3. The hardest encounter is probably the 3 intellect devourers after you get off the ship on the beach. Too many ways too buff your character and gain advantage. Thats the main problem. Advantage is too strong, and its too easy to gain advantage, and enemies are not trying to gain advantage on you. They ( the enemy AI ) arent using any buffs the game has to offer. The AI and encounters are extremely weak, and better yet, they even made it so you can "persuade" all of the optional mini bosses in the game to kill themselves or their minions. Like i get it its kind of funny and you can do that for 1 or two bosses. But to make it so you can convince literally every mini boss in all of act 2 to kill themselves or their minions is just really dumb, and is clearly a way to appeal to casuals who dont want to do any combat in the game. I ended up convincing 3 of the mini bosses to kill themselves when i honestly didnt want to ( i was just exhausting the persuasion checks because i like that aspect of the game), i thought it would do something else. SO now i ended up killing the 3 bosses that were honestly probably the only real challenge in act 2. After i killed 3 of them through "persuasion" checks, i realized, that any time i have an option to persuade a mini boss to do something vague, that it means he will either kill himself or his minions. SO dumb lmao. SO dont persuade them if you still want a challenge! i regret making them kill themselves ! All they need to do is give enemy AI more HP, fix the coding bugs that are clearly making the AI act like noobs, for example, the 4 enemy AI that group focus on the enchanted weapon i spawned instead of the weak party member with barely any HP. I mean, even DOS2 with its very tough AI, makes mistakes like that, not killing the blatantly killable character when they have the chance. You cant expect perfect AI is what im saying. BUT IT CAN BE A LOT BETTER THAN BG3 CURRENT AI. The game can be balanced. but i have a feeling they are intentionally making the game easier for consumers. But that doesnt really make sense does it? because we should have a high diffculty mode ( tactician ) which should be grueliingly difficult, and make you need to pull out every hat in the bag to beat an encounter, and even then the encounter SHOULD FEEL REWARDING and EARNED. DOS2 has that quality. A good encounter will have great back and forth, mix of offense and defence, and healing and damage dealing, positioning and item usage. You will feel it when it happens because its obvious. I have never had a rewarding and "earned" feeling when facing the difficulty of encounters in BG3. Its either impossible because the boss will 1 shot you, or you get to the point where you have enough defensive buffs where you dont get 1 shotted and you can just steamroll from then forward. And this is keeping in mind, that this is WITHOUT utilizing a crapload of potions and alternative inventory items to gain even more buffs. I dont even need those on tactician.
That's basically every CRPG ever my dude. No CRPG will ever be completely balanced, even deadfire which josh specifically came up with the ruleset SPECIFICALLY for balance ended up being one of the most unbalanced messes ever created for a modern CRPG, a roleplayers hell rife with min maxing and dump-statting. Honestly, i don't want it to get balanced. Becoming a god is half the fun of these games, balance is futile. Just embrace the insanity.
buy mats from the vendors and craft them. by the end of act one you should have 20+ hill giant strength. 10+ blood lust and 8-10 invis. Assuming you do 5 long rests in the first act.
