Ball Joint Spacer lifts are a good cheap way to get a few inches lift from your Toyota IFS suspension. It doesn't talk a lot of time and only minimum tools are required.
What vehicles fit the balljoint spacer
• 1986-1995 4WD Pickup/Hilux and 2WD/4WD 4Runner/Hilux Surf
• 1984-1995 2WD Pickup/Hilux
• Also for T100 (1993+)2WD/4WD Pickup/Hilux and 1996+ Hilux 4WD (w/ front torsion bars)
I got these from 4crawler they do make custom sizes and they are available for both 2wd and 4wd. They are CNC machined billet 60601 aluminum spacer and they look amazing!
www.4crawler.c...
This type of spacer works om 2nd and 3 Gen Toyota Pickups and 2nd Gen Toyota 4Runners.

I just did this lift. If you want it to be like 10 times easier, stick a 2x4 piece of wood in that top space instead of that socket to keep it up. Like a foot long piece, wedge it between the rubber stopper and upper arm. You won't need the bottle jack at all! It will be perfectly held up and you can move everything around just fine. Just use a car jack under the lower arm to make height adjustments. Saved me a ton of time and frustration.

I attempted to put these spacers on my 2nd gen 4runner and when I them on and everything put back together the spindle for the cv axle had came out to where I couldnt spin the wheel freely. Did you adjust the upper control arm/torsion bar to get those spacers to fit correctly while assembled ?
@SnailTrail4x4
@SnailTrail4x4 3 года назад
the vehicle was slightly tightened making it level. If your CV axle came out you need to 'obviously' put it back in, and to do so you might need to disconnect some items. If the wheel isn't spinning freely then the CV is binding and you have to much of a lift, and either need to loosen the torsion bars, or remove the lift.

Hi Snail Trail. I have a 1994 22re 4x4. which company in your view produces the best spacer? some seem to come with a small kit. I also need to replace my Leaf springs anyway and wanna have the most HD springs for hauling weight(stone and firewood on my land). Should i go with an old man EMU spring? something tougher? i understand that the spacer will give a 2-2 1/2 inch lift in the front. would you go with a 3 inch leaf lift in the back to best match height. Is there anything else you would replace in the from since your already taking things apart? any preferred front shocks?

I used to have the spacers and replaced the torsion bars to prevent cranking them up. However, after a while, the UCA began to crack due to the grinding off of the metal to make room for the spacer. Since then I replaced it with a lift kit. I did have alignment issues with the spacers. I no longer have the truck. Just sharing from experience.

1994 standard, 5 speed. ok, im gonna do it. additional questions to make the install most efficient: if it's time to replace some front end parts anyway, which would you swap out, i.e., linkages, joints, torsion bar ect... Second, i need new front shocks anyway, what are my higher end quality options which would also accommodate the ball joint spacer lift, length wise? im hoping to clear up to 34"x 12 tires with a bit of offset on the wheels (15") thanks.

I would look at your steering, and upper and lower ball joints, those are the important products at this point. As for 34" tires, your going to have to do an additional lift. I was barely able to fit 32" tires.

I liked 4crawlers spacer for the front. Link in the description. Yes you can get up to 2-2.5 inches with tighten the torsion bars as well. As for rear, I'd get new springs if you have the $$$ if not then a spacer is going to be required. I'd park the truck on a flat surface and measure up from the ground to the center of the wheel well on the front and rear. If your going to add 2-2.5 inches to the front then figure out the difference between front and rear to level your rig. You might also think about lifting it a little bit more for when you add all the weight. I'm not sure what springs are the most HD What else you can do... Add spacers, replace upper ball joint if bad, new shocks, any bushings Tires I'm not sure, all tires are so different. I was able to fit BFG KO2 32x11.5x15 on my truck

@SnailTrail4x4
@SnailTrail4x4 4 года назад
I don't know what you mean about set-back. there was only one way to set the spacer between the upper control arm and the ball joint so there wasn't any modifications to be made for the position of the wheel. Because we were changing the angle of the lower control arm I went and had the truck aligned

Hey, cool video! i bought 2" spacers from Marlincrawler and want to istall them on my 95 4runner. 2 quick questions: 1. Are you on stock, oem shocks? 2. What about front diff drop? Is the cv joints in good angle after the lift?
@SnailTrail4x4
@SnailTrail4x4 4 года назад
95 is an interesting year, you need to make sure these will work for your vehicle. In 95 Toyota released the 3rd gen pickups and then the 1st gen Tacoma. These will not work with the Tacoma. As well as the 2nd and 3rd gen 4Runners, these will not work on the 3rd gen 4runners. Now yes I was on stock shafts, and they seamed to work, but I was going to upgrade. And not enough lift to warrant a diff drop in my opinion
@gincdive
@gincdive 4 года назад
Cool, I own a 2nd gen on Ironman shocks. Think it will work ok.
@SnailTrail4x4
@SnailTrail4x4 4 года назад
@@gincdive -- it's not to difficult to test. Put the front at full droop and then discount the lower shock mount. If the suspension goes down further then you need more shocks because the shock is the limiter. If you disconnect the shock and it continues to lower then your shocks are fine.

I'm stuck on this install... how do I raise the upper A arm? Seems like with a bottle jack between the upper and lower it pushes the lower down which keeps popping my cv axle.
