That's what I did. I just added a piece of wood behind the solid wood block to leave a "triangle" open in the wing. Then when you attach your leads, you just tuck the excess up into the wing. The I tack glued the lead to strut and then wrapped it in covering so you don't see it at all. Also if you cut a rectangle just large enough for the servo extension, it's a much smaller opening than a hole. You can cover over it too if you want. Looks awesome!!!

I always put a second reciever and battery with hatch in the wing to eliminate the wires

If you want a traditional covering of silk, dharma trading sells haboiti silk in 5mm, 8mm and 10mm... sure you have to dampen it but it allows you to choose weight and weave of fabric. Mm stands for moam. I bought 3 different pinking shears from etsey for different zig-zags of pinking edges and to make the tape.
