As some officers are doubling their annual salaries, Operation Crime & Justice Reporter Joy Lepola began to investigate what sort of payoff the public was seeing.
Fox45 News found nearly twenty City officers who earned more than $100,000 in overtime during Fiscal Year 2020.
Even though the Baltimore Police Department says it's down 300 and 350 officers, the question over the quality of policing remains.

The case search just means cases where they testified at trial that are public info. It has nothing to do with the # of arrests they make or anything. You could be a high ranking, ethical and productive supervisor with a high salary and you’re not going to show up in the case search.

Since when do salaried employees get overtime anyway? Ask a McDonald's store manager that gets a salary and ask if they get paid overtime? They'll laugh in your face!

Salaried employees dont get OT. No officer makes salary. They are hourly. If you are told otherwise and believe it, I have some swamp land for sale.

I’ve never heard of a big city that does not require college education or at minimum significant military service to work as a cop. So please try to make sure you’re aware of what you’re speaking about, respectfully.

What is the cost of living there? Someone living in a small town may be shocked by the amount these officers make while those in larger cities would think the officers aren't making nearly enough.

For a bedroom n the worst ghetto in baltimore $1700 a month unless u have 9 kids all different baby daddys drive a bmw n sell drugs the u get section 8 house vouchers and pay $8 a month n u get welfare checks n food stamps but hard working people get nothing not even free medical like a bunch of states r giving money checks since the pandemic our governor used our pandemic money to build korean town for his korean wife and they all dont have to pay taxes for 5 years baltimore maryland is a great place to live....NOT!!!

Oh, so nobody can inform the public if they don’t work in that job? Smh. And if you’re worried about cops who have to police the people who work in these citizens then I would think a thinking person would want to make sure supervisors like sergeants are not earning a butt load of money working overtime when they are really being lazy. But hey, that’s just me.

Well, honestly that really doesn’t make sense. Almost anybody can make over $100,000 a year if they are constantly working overtime. Work 16 hours a day seven days a week. So you can’t look at someone’s salary with overtime and say that nobody’s worth that much, because you don’t know how many hours they worked.

The mayor and city council should be held accountable for overpaying the police department for virtually doing nothing you cannot sit in cars and flashlights and enforce the law and it's a stupid deployment of resources the police needs to get their ass out of the cars and we engage with the people they supposed to be serving they also need to do a better job since they're getting so much money the sad thing is we all know now and that just makes me sick

What stupid and lazy reporting. She obsesses over the amount of money the officers are making, but conveniently neglect to point out that the reason they are making so much overtime is because the city is unable to recruit and retain enough officers to fill the shifts that these officers are being paid overtime to work The reporter also lazily and deceptively tries to link overtime pay to cases filed. An officer could make all the arrests they want. It is the district attorney, who decides to file cases, and as we know liberal Democrat prosecutors do not file the vast majority of cases that come before them. You see the same phenomenon in every large democrat run city. This further distance and advises officers, making arrests, because why would somebody make an arrest for a crime that the person is not going to be charged by the district attorney for anyway? This is total fake news, designed to rile up the viewer, because of the amount of money being spent, but not providing any legitimate context.

I have to be honest and blunt, I personally would be embarrassed to ever say such a thing. Because to act like it’s all the district attorney’s fault would mean that I had not listened to the video and use common sense. When plenty of cops working a regular shift make as much arrests as someone else does who works a huge amount of overtime, that’s what I was thinking folk call a clue.
