Would it be worth doing in a greenhouse, how much water does it need? what type soil will work? Is it worth doing in small scale? contemplating genseng, how does it compare?

Even if they get blown over, you’ll get a whole new crop the next year.

@@echandler673 nope, I just ordered my first timber variety yesterday lol. I’ve been researching them for a year and finally pulled the trigger on this lol.

@@22airgun The timber variety seems to be what the US has production facility for at the moment. Edible bamboo shoots should also be a good side crop. It may not give as much $$/weight as timber, it depends on demand.

@@echandler673 have you got answer for your question? if not yet, wish this info can help you based on harvest goal, at least there are 3 main types of bamboo: - timber bamboo : used as building / construction material - craft bamboo: used to make handcraft & musical instrument - edible bamboo : harvest bamboo shot for cooking (very popular in asian country) another type of bamboo is ornamental bamboo - mostly used as a fence
