@@yang-it-yin7002 I think that (the video) is their most western Band Maid song. It also has english lyrics. I believe they were written by their producer. His name escapes me. He was actually David Bowie's producer at one time. But it was certainly their least japanese song at the time.

Legendary David Bowie producer Tony Visconti worked on this song (a songwriter he colaborates with introduced him to the band), he invited Saiki and Miku to New York and t0 recorded the vocals. "I love the originality of BAND-MAID. It was like a dream come true to meet them. During recording SAIKI and MIKU sang from eight-hours straight. I don't know many artists with that kind of stamina, I was taken back by their professionalism. They definitely met my expectations."

The girls decided to do something different and worked with Tony Visconti for this song. Lyrics in English, a video that shows commitment to the environment (also the lyrics, by the way) and a simpler composition, more based on a powerful riff and without the complexity than is usual in them. A handful of haters got noticed but that's something that happens every time Band Maid decides to experiment. The song is excellent, it reminds me powerfully of Jimmy Hendrix. The bad news for immobilists is that this group of five great musicians have incredible creativity and are not able to stay in one place for long. Their LP Conqueror, the most experimental, has several songs that roll off the beaten track. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Page.

The producer is Tony Visconti of David Bowie and TRex fame. Miku and Saiki flew to NYC to work with Visconti to record the vocals. Kanami wrote the music . Visconti loved Miku and Saiki, said they sang for 8 hours!! Miku and Saiki also loved working with Visconti and spoke of his kindness to them. He asked if Kanami would be okay with changes to her music, she wasn't. Saiki said one thing that was different was that on retakes they sang the part that was changed, where as in Japan they rehang the entire song. The girls got to see New York and said the people were very nice to them. The rest of the band flew in, met Visconti and played 2 concerts. One at the Gramercy Theater and had to add a date at the Mercury Lounge due to ticket demand. Tony Visconti attended both! I like the song. I want bands to get out of their comfort zone and work with different people. To me this marks a recognition of the talent and professionalism of Band Maid in the west!
@rakjr6

Yeah, some have complained that the recording is over compressed which has nothing to do with the band or Tony Visconti or the merits of the song. Some complained it was too old fashioned. Miku and Saiki went to New York to work with Tony Visconti. They described Tony has being a kindly grandfather. Tony said: "I love the originality of BAND-MAID. It was like a dream come true to meet them. During recording SAIKI and MIKU sang from eight-hours straight. I don't know many artists with that kind of stamina, I was taken back by their professionalism. They definitely met my expectations." It was really funny, after one of the NYC concerts a backstage picture was posted showing the maids with one old guy in a BM shirt. And everyone asked "Who the hell is that?". David Bowie's producer, that's who.

I never had any issues with this song either, ever since it debuted. As I have always said & commented, the vibe & genre of it is basically "1960's/70's Vietnam war protest era Hendrix-style psychedelic blues rock." That is its familiarity & relationship to me, even though I was born in the late 1960's. By doing this song, the Maids add more variety to their talent, curriculum vitae & music catalog. It can add more fans who like this type of music & I hope they do more of this type of vintage rock. Heck, I wouldn't mind them doing one song that's something along the lines of a Strawberry Alarm Clock, approximately the rock era right before Hendrix, Deep Purple or whatever. People may not like it, but again, it adds to their discography, that they can play anything & not get "pigeon"-holed in the subgenre of Hard Rock ... just as long as they stay mainly in that lane of hard rock though.

I'm with you on this one...it's a good song. The part of fandom I like the least is the fans who want bands to never change or do anything different. Of course it's risky, but when a band evolves in ways you like...it's everything.

@tombworld9012 3 года назад
If some of the fans aren't supposed to dislike it, how can it be risky? I don't mind bands taking risks, but the consequence has to be that not everyone will like it. I like the song but hate the video. It can't be a coincidence that the heavy-handed, preachy, depressing stuff in the video that turned a lot of fans off from Western music happened the ONE TIME Band-Maid did a Western collab. And it's just SO over the top, too. We're used to having to do things like decipher what a blindfolded girl with a doll has to do with the song Dice...we're better than "Look, here's some floating garbage! Do you get it? DO YOU GET IT?"

I don't mind them trying different things, case in point: Different. I really wasn't convinced by Different the first few times I heard it but it really grew on me. This one didn't. It just doesn't sound like a Band-Maid song to me. Not because the lyrics haven't been written by Miku but simply because they don't sound as comfortable or natural in it. And the vocals are kind of bringing the song down. I think Miku's writing style is more punchy while in this one, the vocals kind of drag. So I'm not a "hater" or into the controversy (I didn't even know there was a controversy) but I really don't like it, no matter how hard I try.

I was never aware that this was a contraversal Band-Maid song. I loved this song from the time it came out. It may not be on the top of my list of Band-Maid tracks. Could it be that those who have painted this song in a negative light need their Band-Maid tracks to be pushing the tempo at 180 to 220 BPM with Madd musical calisthenics? Or in an odd development could they have grown to prefer their Band-Maid tracks to be in Japanese since this and "Don't Let Me Down" as the two Band-Maid tracks that are entirely in English. Maybe they some fans have been spoiled by their next level greatness and have developed a ridiculous expectation to be blown away by something unexpected. I myself love the familiar woven within the unexpected. Lastly how many bands would have killed to write such as solid track as "Dragon Cries".

Funny thing is, for me, even being a fan of Band-maid for years and years (I became an instant fan when I somehow randomly came across their MV for Real Existence around 5 years ago)...I had no idea this was some song that turned people off or had some controversy to it, however you want to label it. It's not one of my favorite songs, but I still find that a bit interesting that apparently some 'fans' were not happy with this song. I still like the song...I even think it's a good song. It's just not something i'll put on my playlist, just to be honest. But even with that said, I would never think to have such a negative reaction to it like some 'fans'. To each their own, I suppose. I loved The Dragon Cries from the start. Some (far from "all"!) Band-Maid fans don't, and IMO for "wrong" or "futile" reasons: 1/ conservative B-M fans thought it was too different (now that they heard Manners, they may have change their minds) 2/ some people hated what they consider "political" comments in the video - they don't want to hear about climate changes ... no comment (even if I think the video itself could have been much better) 3/ some people thought Tony Visconti is a Hollywood mogul trying to turn Band-Maid into a US band ... what can I say? It only shows total ignorance of the fine musician and amazing producer Tony Visconti is! The only thing to really blame is the overdone compression - my assumption is that Tony Visconti send the files already mastered to Japan and that the japanese technicians in charge of the final mastering remastered it!

I loved this song since I first heard it, but I've always been a fan of that heavy blues-with-a-groove rock. I can't dislike a song driven by such a thick, nasty guitar riff. Manners, to me, is a direct evolution from this song (and according to the band, "flying high" was also inspired by it). From those who dislike it, the most common complaints seem to be the heavy reverb muddying up the sound and the English lyrics seeming a bit trite, both of which were Tony Visconti influences. If you really want controversial, however, you have to listen to "start over." I never liked it much for a long time, but somehow it grew on me later. But a lot of B-M fans seem to want to pretend it doesn't exist, and it's definitely in a completely different style.

A hypothesis: A) Band-Maid songs are generally upbeat, or at least beautifully sad, even when the music is aggressive and the lyrics (which don't impact Westerners to the same extent as Japanese-speakers, in translation after the fact) don't sugarcoat reality. B) The video is NOT upbeat. THUS C) It doesn't get requested/recommended as much as other songs, therefore D) There are very few musically analytical reactions pointing out its strengths and so some people never get past their initial "This is depressing" impression and blame it on Visconti and/or the production/mastering (which IMO could indeed be better).

I really like this song. Gave me a lot of Jimi Hendrix vibes. I don't see it as a simple song at all. Like I said, it reminded me a lot of Hendrix, and I don't think anyone would say that Hendrix did simple songs. I suspect the dislike comes more from the content of the video clips shown rather than the music itself. Let's face it, the video clips were pretty dark. With the opening shot of the snake, people should have known this was going to be darker in content. This was certainly not "kawaii", and I suspect that's what people don't like. Pretty much my thoughts exactly. The vid did the song no favors, as it is almost ridiculously over-the-top dark and overpowers the song with its relentless negativity. In fact, the song and lyrics intend to end on a positive note as the band said in an interview (the phoenix "flies" not "cries"). Musically, after hearing it a few times, it enthralled me - esp that breakdown, solo part, and the tones they were able to bring out.

The producer extracted a sound from the girls that is very different from the sound we are used to. Tony Visconty has worked with many of the classic bands and it does sound like Hendrix and other people. It's not a bad sound by any means but it really is a collaborative project because Tony has left such a big footprint on the track he has not simply produced it. I think people are hoping that BAND-MAID will not go woke because that will be the end of them and so they are just pretending it didn't happen.

@@stephenchigwidden7504 This is the first reference I've ever seen of "wokeness" in reference to the band. The Dragon Cries MV expressed a Japanese band's apparent concerns about the environment (and perhaps war and poverty). That's it. Fans looking for underlying hints of "wokeness" in BM songs are projecting their own political insanity on to a nothingburger. Furthermore, the idea some fans have that Visconty somehow significantly changed BM's sound is I think mistaken. Kanami herself said that her first draft composition was essentially immediately approved in whole by Viscounty; I don't think Viscounty made a single change to it. In fact, the only changes requested by the band that I'm aware of is Kanami's request for some minor tweaks to the mixing, which Viscounty readily agreed to.

@MaartenT
@MaartenT 3 года назад
It's funny that you name those songs because those are probably why I don't particularly enjoy listening to Conqueror. I am not saying they are bad songs (and I am certainly not saying you are wrong), it has more to do with my taste in music than it has to do with their skills or writing (I tend to not like ballads for example even from my favourite bands). The same goes for The Dragon Cries. I didn't even watch the video or knew about the context before this video. It's the production and overcompression of the sound that I don't like (I also never watched the reactor that mentioned this, this was the first thing I thought when listening to thise entire album). I am relatively new to Band-Maid, but when I received my import Conqueror album and listened to the first 5 seconds I wanted to turn it off again. I think PAGE is by far my least favorite song that I have heard of them just because of the first few seconds has everything I generally don't like about (pop) music and why I haven't listened to the radio for close to 20 years. (btw, I am not saying Band-Maid are a pop group, but they do have some (J-)pop elements in their music. I really don't like the production on Conqueror (which extends to The Dragon Cries) and it is my least favourite of their albums as I generally don't like the overproduced sound it has (granted World Domination has similar problems, but I do like more tracks on that album since they are a little heavier). To be honest, Conqueror basically only has one track I really like (Rinne) and a couple I do enjoy (Blooming, glory and Bubble). It might have to do with that I mainly listen to metal, since even in metal there are some genres I am not the biggest fan that sound generally more polished (Power Metal comes to mind). I do think the songs of Conqueror (and actually most of their music) are more enjoyable live than on their albums because of the production. Band-Maid is a very weird band to me. I have bought/imported basically all their albums and singles, but there are not a lot of songs that I completely love from start to finish. The 2 that come to mind for me are onset and Without holding back (not because of the lack of Saiki, I generally love her vocals, more because I am not always huge on their chorusses). That being said, there aren't a lot of songs that don't have enjoyable parts for me and I am always in awe of their skill and their writing. Also, they absolutely are fantastic Live and I just couldn't stop myself from supporting this band even though parts of their music is really not in my wheelhouse. Also, I really like Thrill even though it is relatively simple and not written by them. Btw, sorry for the wall of text. I just found it funny that you name the tracks I don't really like as your favourites. I guess that's part of their strengths in that they can write so many different types of music and write them well so that a lot of different people with different tastes can enjoy them. I do love the Unseen World album though, it's probably my favourite of theirs and has by far the most tracks I really like compared to the other albums.

Because there was no reason to clutch pearls over Start Over with Screaming on the b-side. And it happened again in the other direction with Unseen World; because it didn't have a ballad people started threads about how we'd never get another Daydreaming from them (which made me extra happy when "About Us" landed and shut those people up). I wonder it hasn't got a good reputation.. I wonder why.. I absolutely love it anyway! I don't dislike anything in their catalog, but I don't like the lyrics of "don't let me down", tbh. The reason is pretty simple, probably because I'm a woman. So.. even if some people don't like "the dragon cries", I think the reason is as simple as I am 😉 Thank you for the great reaction video ♡

Don't worry, many of us also think don't let me down is cringey as well. :) That was a song that was early in their career and written for them by... you guessed it.... a man who probably thought they needed to "sex up" their image... another case of someone completely missing the mark of what makes Band-Maid so special and it has fuck all to do with their gender or sexuality. Hint: Its the sheer amount of talent and creativity. :)

That song is fucking filthy! I went through my teen years hearing the Misfits and TSOL, so I’m pretty desensitized to filthy lyrics. I didn’t understand “Don’t Let Me Down” at first because their accents are so thick, so I liked the song a lot. Then I looked up the lyrics and I was a little surprised. I wasn’t expecting what I read.

Love your reactions. As a guy that grew up in the 60's and 70's this song really grabbed me. Definitely got a Hendrix vibe from it. Akane's syncopated tribal sound on the drums was reminiscent of Ginger Baker from Cream. The song was not written by Band Maid and I am not sure if they chose this song or it was forced on them by the label. It is quite different from most of their other songs, however, if you listen to the entire album this track is on, you will hear many similarities in the sound in other songs.

I might as well add my take on this.... For me, the song does not draw me in like any other BAND-MAID song does - I've tried to let it do that and it hasn't succeeded. For me (again), despite their professionalism and technical skill in delivering a solid product, it doesn't have BAND-MAID "soul" in it. Good composition, good production, some funky stuff happens, but it does not feel like they owned it collectively as a band. It feels "manufactured" - even though it is better than a lot of other music out there these days. In summary, I think there were too many other fingers in this particular piece of the BAND-MAID pie.

Dragons, a poignant commentary of the troubling past and current state of the world, is a great plunge into the bluesy rock style given to us by Hendrix and others. Heard live (and without the overly compressed mix), the song jumps from the souls of the members and into our minds as a warning. Let's all heed that warning!

I agree, it really is a good rock song. Perhaps it's because the lyrics were written by a fellow named Tom Kenney? Not sure how that would make it sound unBand-Maid, as I'd read. I started occasionally skipping this song whenever it came up without knowing about any of the "controversy". Why occasionally skip? The vocals. Somehow they feel like they're dragging, or that they don't quite match up with the rest of the song...it's hard to explain, just a feeling. It's not a bad song though, just one with a different feel that I'm usually not in the mood for. Listen to any of their blues-heavy songs or any of their ballads. This song still has the same instrumentation we've all grown to love, but the vocals, as beautiful as they are, are very different. Oh, and I'll add that when they played the dragon cries in one of their online live performances, I enjoyed it a heck of a lot more...as always, they're better live XD.

I haven't skipped it (or any other B-M song) yet, but it is the only BAND-MAID song that I'm a bit 'meh' about. Like you, I was unaware of the 'controversy' when I heard it first, and none of the reasons that folk here are telling me why I'm not keen on it are why I'm not personally a big fan of this one single song. The video doesn't bother me in the slightest, I've no problem with the "message" either (I approve of the message in fact), the production doesn't bother me regardless of how I'm hearing it, the lyrics/vocals being in English makes no difference to me, I've no issue with it being a "different" sound either. I think I just find it specifically as a BAND-MAID song, a bit dull and 'plodding'. It isn't a bad song by any means and I don't 'hate' it but if I had to choose a BAND-MAID song to never ever get to hear again, it would be The Dragon Cries. 1 song out of 110+ that I find a bit dull is way beyond any of my other favourite bands/artists numbers.

I don't get the hate either. When I first heard it a was pumped to hear a live version of it. This came out not long after Bubble and Start Over. Also, the lyrics are all English. Miku and Saiki few to new York to have Tony Visconti produce the vocal parts. So there was a subset of fans that were saying they "sold out" and that kind of stupidity. When the song came out they just wanted to hate it no matter what. I think it's a small but vocal subset of fans though. There's a bit of psuedo-intellectual snobbery at play here - this was a one-off BM song produced by the legendary Tony Visconti and the only non-BM-written song on Conqueror - the story is that he listened to BM at the suggestion of a friend and was so impressed that he contacted their management to request a collaboration - there are persistent fringe rumours that the band was "forced" to work with him by management trying to cash in on Visconti's status and some see this song as a vanity project on his part - imposing his personal ideology through the lyrics and visuals while trying to prove that he can produce a BM song better than the ladies themselves - all utter BS of course... and the song is pretty damn good...

The fact that a Western producer (not to mention a fairly recognized one) was involved with this song is a very unspoken, but I feel a very real part of why this song gathered some haters. It appears to me there are quite a few Western people (especially Americans) who start listening to these Japanese bands and then as a result end up listening to nothing but Japanese bands. Eventually they form a rather elitist mindset of listening to music more "superior" to that of the rest of the world, and any Western influence that even touches it (such as in this case a producer, English lyrics, non-Japanese people in the MV) is immediately considered bad and something that tarnishes the song. I don't think this problem appears with European fans as much, since 90% of music we listen to is already foreign. But it's fairly noticeable with the American fans, simply by how much they constantly comment about how much American music sucks and Japanese is superior. Nobody would have these negative comments and make BS claims about this song, such as the music being "simpler", the MV being "too political" or the English lyrics being "bad", if the song's production had not been public information. People would barely even have noticed anything different, but like said, all these arguments actually stem from a Western connection to the song, and the most telling part is that it was there already before the song was even released. I remember it was always the same thing in the Babymetal fandom, when Babymetal released a song that was English-only lyrics. That alone was enough to make certain people hate those particular songs. With some of those songs, they released the exact same song but with a version where a few parts had been altered into Japanese, and surprise, surprise those ones were immediately considered the "better versions". But in all honestly "The Dragon Cries" is not really any less liked song with the majority, honestly. In this case it's extremely fair to say it truly is a very vocal minority who're whining about it. These "Japan music elitists" are the exact same as the metal/rock elitists, in that whenever Band-Maid releases a softer/poppier song, it's immediately considered shit and "Band-Maid is abandoning their ways".
@billardon514
@billardon514 3 года назад
I'm not an elitist at all and listen to a super wide variety of music (and very few Japanese bands tbh) and I dislike this song. When I first heard it I had no idea the lyrics and production were Tony Visconti's but it struck me as odd and out of place. The writing style is less punchy than Miku's usual style and the chorus is a big "meh". I really did try to like it but I never did. It's a matter of taste, not elitism. Maybe a few toxic fans will hate on it for no good reasons, but people are allowed to dislike things even from their favorite band without being elitists.

The controversy behind TDC isn't about it being simple. It's about (1) the mix/master, which is not typical B-M, since Tony Visconti had a big hand in it, and apparently stripped out a lot of the B-M/Kanami chaos in the background; (2) the fully english lyrics + Saiki's delivery; (3) the "political" tone of the video. It's not my favourite B-M song, but I still like it, and I like it live far more than the studio version. You can also tell B-M learnt a lot about doing this kind of music when they produced Manners. The other "controversial" MV is Start Over, for completely different reasons. You should check that out.

IMHO, the so called overly angry critical armchair audiophiles (not Champ, or many of his watchers/commentators here), ...usually never adjust their preset equalisers to find differing tones and sounds that they miss purposefully due to lazyness. While Dragon Cries is not my numero Uno no.1 B-M song, it is in the top ten of them with the 15 to 20 others.... Yes, yup, I said that. Love the nods, the influence and homages to GnR, Bonham and other 'classic 80s & 90s' rock & metal tones in this song ! I think the haters of it find it being their (B-M) most 'English/American' filled song is not weeb-chan enough for them fragile opinions. ...while myself being somewhat of an otaku in training myself, those 'weeaboos' are mostly a type of 'social-media bandwagoners' who love to find things to be infuriated by to post about, to feel better.. 1. The compression 2. There is a section of fans, (whether they want to admit it or not) that are not very keen on all english lyrics. 3. There is also a section of fans,(whether they want to admit it or not) that were not very keen on Visconti producing even part of the song, being a possible move by the band to a more "comercial"style. 4. There is also a section of fans, yadda, yadda,yadda, that were not to keen on the 'Socio-political stance taken in the MV. The fans in each of the "reasons" aren't really a lot on their own, but add them together and it kinda gave the song an unfair rap. All the reasons are kinda irrelevant to me. I loved the song out of the gate. Kanami does some great work if you listen closely. And don't you have to love the little bass and drum breakdown?? This, to me and I will emphasize on TO ME, is one of them. It's of course a matter of taste, but I don't like the vocals on this one. As an instrumental, I wouldn't mind it and there's some cool stuff happening in the background, I just don't like how draggy the vocals are, especially the "that is whyy-y-y-y-y" part. Couldn't care less about Visconti, English lyrics, compression or content. I just don't like how it sounds. Why always make things an us against them thing? Here's my take on why this song got panned. Try this Champ, turn off the sound (only time I'll ever say that) watch the video and read the lyrics. BAND-MAID is not someone you would normally associate with things like starving children, war and carnage, heroin use, ecological disaster. This song was a message, a pretty heavy one. I believe a number of fans didn't dig that. They weren't into their rays of sunshine making a statement. Their rock 'n roll darlings shouldn't be political. To which I can only answer; get real, piss off. True, it's not their best produced track. True, it has a groove not everyone is going to feel. I think it's just further proof of their range and depth.

I think it actually fits in with the theme of much of their music; "we make our own future and are responsible for our own success" The video IMHO basically says that as humans we tend to screw things up at times and we should try to do better. I think some folks feel any "outside" influence will ruin BM and I just feel they are too smart to allow that. The band members have stated that they enjoy working with others as it helps them learn and get better. As they alluded to in "about us" we make the world to a degree and I like the fact that they try to always improve it.

I think the style and production on it (and extending to a lot of Conqueror) are a bit different from a lot of the rest of their stuff, so while it's solid, it does have a little bit of a different feel (Miku didn't write the lyrics, Visconti producing differently than their normal producers, etc.) that while it's still good, doesn't have quite as much of that "Band-Maid feel" as most of their other stuff. On the whole, I enjoy it, but it probably ends up in the bottom third of Band-Maid songs for me. As someone who's not a musician, I unfortunately don't have words for what exactly the difference is, but on this and a few other songs on Conqueror, just about all the tones (guitar and vocal in particular) have a slightly different sound from what they are generally... a little more distortion and a slightly different distortion... I'm not musically articulate enough to really explain it, but I feel like it is there.

I think some of the hate comes from what is unknown. What would this song have sounded like if Tony V was not brought in to help on production? We will never know, but I think a lot of fans think it could have been better and the possibility of that makes them feel upset. Then we look at Flying High which was made after and has been said they used some of the knowledge they got in making TDC and applied it to this song. Which in my opinion is a way better song, but would it have been if TDC was not made in the first place? Another unknown answer. All i know is the live version of TDC is 500x better than the studio recording. I know most Band-Maid songs are this way as well but here it is more true than any other.

B-M is making music fun again and making us feel good. This song is a masterpiece, but it's a "feel bad" song instead of the uplifting "feel good" songs they normally do. I think that's why it's not so popular. Personally, I think this is one of their better written songs and I love that they changed their sound for it. It needed that! I say this is among the top 20 songs in my top 5 list of theirs. What more is the feeling of chaos and despair the solos meditates, first from MISA and Akane and then even more so from Kanami. These solos are so well crafted and a sign of how a real musician can put feelings into sounds. I also noticed that most American reactors tend to ignore the message of the lyrics and the video. Don't know why, but I don't like it. You can't dissect the song when ignoring the message the Maids are trying to get trough.

All the complaints I've seen have had to do with the production as opposed to the song itself. Personally, I don't have any issues with the production, but it does kind of stand out from the rest of the songs on the album due to the fact that it's a different producer. As a standalone song in the MV, however, I don't think that difference is as noticeable. It sounds just fine to me either way, though.

I love this song. Very Zepplinish. Saikei with that Plant yell trail off. Great riffs. Kanami is brilliant. Why is there controversy. Awesome song. It was done in NYC, I beilieve.

To those saying the lyrics are preachy... have you read them by themselves? The video is, for sure. But you're letting the video color your interpretation (which is understandable, don't get me wrong). If you just read them by themselves it just kinda sounds like a sappy love song about how a love that was supposed to be eternal ended and in so doing shattered the fabric of the world or some shit. I mean, I'm not sure they're *good* lyrics, exactly, but they aren't the depressing sermon y'all think they are.

I think the main issues with this song are the video & the vocals. I didn't like the song at all when it first dropped, but after listening to it after buying the conqueror CD this past year, I totally digged it! I then realized it was the video that killed it for me originally. It was too heavy handed dark for the song & the band I thought... it would work great for a death metal band, but not Band-Maid. Politics are a slippery slope, & once bands start incorporating them into their music, they USUALLY go down hill... fast. Now the vocals: The lyrics are fine, Saiki's voice is fine... it's the delivery that is the issue. I'm aware she did her best, but I feel for such a "west" styled song, she simply isn't fluent in English enough for it to sound good. It's what is "off" sounding about it. On the plus side, the instrumentalists nailed it! That was of little surprise though considering the extreme talent of the "power trio".

I'm one of the ones who skips this when it come on, it's a Band-Maid song so of course it has some great parts to it but as a whole it just doesn't grab me, I'm not sure why, the only thing I can think of is that Akane isn't going off and seems to have had the shackles put on her, or maybe is just a production thing, I don't know.

Really, I think this song is really cool, but I'm surprised that many people don't like it. I saw the live performance of this song on Band-Maid's live DVD, and the fancy drum and bass duet in the bridge part, followed by the speedy guitar solo, gave me goosebumps. I can't see the performance well in the MV, but I think this song is very technically difficult.
