Don’t nobody realistically act like that 😂🤣 yall take the extremist and act like that’s all fans when it’s not, on top of the fact y’all act like any band that SU doesn’t curb stomp is automatically on their level, when that isn’t the case, every band brings their best when battling SU meanwhile SU doesn’t unless you worth the trouble i.e. JSU….but SU in various aspects are untouched example, arrangements, nobody ever matches that and the musically most other bands only ever really match power if anything but that’s it

Ok I'm a SU fan since birth growin' up in SE Louisiana and it has been very very very few times Southern has been against the ropes and this is how they respond?.. by playin' over people, by playin' power songs against old school jams.. I think they just don't know how to play from behind because they usually have the comforts of a lead .. after pv told them to go home you gotta play somethin' so fire that it cements you as king then march the hell out. My personal opinion is PV put hands to southern this day and it's ok, learn ya lesson and move on

Usually su is overrated or underrated because they are such a great unit. Along with JSU and Bethune-Cookman they compete with themselves. For me, they set the bar so high when I see them at 65% of there normal level it makes me feel some type of way and I say they automatically took a L even if there 65% is better than most. On the other hand PV did they thing, they was kickin' on all cylinders, energy, musicality, dynamics, song selection and they had the big dawg mentality. Ey they was ready!!! You right they gameplan was beyond solid!!

Everyone always talks about SU's arrangements... let's not forget about all those 5 star musicians who can actually play those arrangements!!! The secret to SU is that they have a boatload of very talented musicians. Other bands would NOT sound like SU if they had SU's arrangements... It's the Jukes that make the Human Jukebox.

All u so call music scholars! U hv a brass ensemble band (SU) going up against a true marching band (PV)...yes the sound is much louder!! PV clearly held their on! The reason there was that gap in the battle was because we agreed to a set number of rounds and we were clearly fucking over em but they didn’t wanna leave. The shit was getting redundant and we were tryna get to the after party.

PV A&M Band Director is a graduate of Southern University - Human Jukebox so he always try to being his A Game. TxSU Band Director is a graduate of Southern University - Human Jukebox so Texas HBCU's belong to SU Jukebox.

I remember being a freshman at PV in 98 and these two bands had a brawl that made the news. It was said ,Jags purposely left the girls in the stands to fight. I guess they were saying SU is made of mostly males. Yeah that was a crazy squabble.

PV shut them up. SU got mad because they didn't expect it. Southern won on overall playing. PV won on entertainment (as always) and energy. Overall PV gets the edge because I want a band to entertain me during a game. It's not a competition where you are getting scored. It's about fun and entertainment. Which band makes me get in my feelings and get out of my seat and bust some dance moves. That's what PV does. I do understand the battle thing, but, like I said, ENTERTAINMENT wins out in the end.

For the record....one of Prairie Views band directors is from the JUKEBOX!! I know because I was there with him! He's a fanominal writer and his interpretations are highly recognizable for those who have played his arrangements. Trust me on this one KB. Even as a student, he wrote some of our show arrangements but mostly our stand music. He was at Bama State for a min but ended up at PV and their program sounds much better for it. JUKEBOX NEVER CRUSHES A LESS COMPETENT BAND IN 5TH QUARTER. THEY ALWAYS HOLD BACK. NO NEED TO EMBARRASS THE VISITING BAND. I've seen it happen over and over again. Clearly, if Southern went around playing the Best of the Best of their songbook, they would WIN every time. I appreciate that they make room for the other band to shine, too.

Not really hearing where Southern took an L. During my time Doc would have left after the first 3 songs, arrangements matter. PV did very well, but they were constantly screwing up on simple arrangements… #humanjukebox Fall 97
