I didn't know this is what real life bandicoots looked like. Given the design of Crash and this one bandicoot seen in a comic book in a episode of Sonic Boom, I always thought they were a species of wild canines. I had no idea they were actually a species of rodent like marsupials

My partner and I live in clarendon South Australia. We have southern brown bandicoots here and we are lucky enough to have lived on a property with them hoping around in the garden! They are surprisingly smart and have very interesting personalities. They would steel our picknick food regulary..

"Bandicoot" is (as far as I know) the only name of a marsupial that originates in a Dravidian language. It originally referred to a rodent found in India.

Huge Crash fan here, Crash wasn't initially designed to be a bandicoot, they made the design first and chose the species later. Species considered included a potoroo and wombat - while a wombat has never been featured in a Crash game, the character Pinstripe (the guy with the suit and gun who runs the power plant in the first game) is a potoroo.

A trippy thing happened last night. While I was watching this at some silly hour, one of the camera traps I have set up in the back yard was taking a few photos & video - of a bandicoot. It's wild that I just saw a tweet asking if crash was a Tasmanian devil. Someone responded saying he's a bandicoot, I had no idea that was a species of animal until I searched it. I did that research like 20 minutes ago, now this video uploaded yesterday, was recommended.
