Me too. The cars in this type of race aren't really that reinforced. Sometimes they don't even disable driver airbags. It's incredible that they can still drive after multiple impacts. Try doing this with an EV!
I stand corrected on the reinforcement issue, it's pretty obvious now I watch the video again that the cars have just been stripped of a few bits and then thrown on the track, lol. As has been said, mightily impressive that they're still going with no coolant to speak of and after some of those impacts...look at how hard the Picasso rams the Transit near the start!
This video... is perfect. Been playing Wreckfest lately, so this is cherry in the top of the ice-cream. But to make things even more perfect, I'm a prouf owner of a Fiat Grand Punto, so seeing it ramming against such vehicles and get out alive it's awesome. My car was already joked by my friends as the legend, since it already survived so much stupid stuff I've made to it, and now this video proves it :D
A game I highly recommend checking out to everyone who has played Flatout 1 and 2 and Wreckfest is Tough Trucks: Modified Monsters, a game from Bugbear that I actually prefer to Wreckfest and Flatout just ever so slightly, It has great, challenging racing and awesome tracks, it is PC only so do keep that in mind when looking it up :)

I was just thinking the same thing, we weren't allowed screens in, back in the 80's, with all the health and safety bs we have now, it really surprised me that screens are now allowed. I'm guessing it's because in a lot of new cars, the screen is structural, but still, you'd just think they'd allow you to re add some structure with it out.
@@arminius4986 It's pretty much a contact sport, where drivers are allowed to crash in to each other, during the race. Then, when the day is done, the remaining cars, that can still move, go in the the Destruction Derby, where the aim of the game is to be the last one with a moving car. It's painful for the drivers, but fun for the spectators :)
That van with LAUREN ♡ sold me from the start lol. It's awesome to see a race where they don't have to worry about rules. This banger race thing sounds like fun
that malley guy got red flagged, did you see that? i think he got introuble for wrecking the same person over and over? you can see lauren rubbernecking.
This is satisfying to me because every time I play burnout paradise, I can't seem to resist wanting to enter a junkyard in a car that has lost a fender or two and has ended up looking like an English bulldog.
I never heard of banger racing until I saw this video. I have to say this would be the ideal thing for road rager types to take out their frustrations without having to kill someone in the process.
My first car was a clio 2, almost exactly as the one you see there, and I wish he had gone like that instead of being part of payment for a newer car 🤣
The van driver should have killed everything on the course, by putting them all into the fence. The face that many of the cars still had glass in suggests they didn't have the level of driver protection you would see in National Bangers.
Sorry, but that's an European spec 5 door Civic, this design was also available as a 5 door wagon. Both these body styles were not sold in America, the Accord did get a wagon option but they sold so few most people assume they never existed.
I've been attending demolition derby events in the US for many years and thought that it could not be topped. However these "banger races" are clearly far better!
This just goes to show how honest to goodness Fiat is, despite the weird management decisions! Even the Honda Accord couldn't manage to survive this racing cacophony! All hail Fiat and the FIRE engine! I'd certainly think of buying a second-hand Fiat with a FIRE engine after that spectacle!🤘
All the decent engines are older ones. For example Ford's old Zetec units are tough as old boots but their newer ecoboost units are pure garbage. Mercedes build quality has fallen through the floor generally and VAG products are just complete money pits. Any car worth keeping for the long haul is from pre 2010. Even Honda and Toyota are not as good as they used to be and Nissan has been tragic ever since they got tied up with Renault. Most new cars suck tbh.
@Carlos Daniel So basically you are taking what you have seen other people saying elsewhere, and then making out I am saying the same thing...? Well no I am NOT saying that, so laugh all you like but I can provide plenty of examples of how cars from post 2000s have become overly complex and difficult + expensive to maintain + repair. If you knew anything about cars at all you would know that more complexity = bigger repair bills + more things to go wrong. And it should be fairly self-evident that cars are getting more and more complex as time goes by. Also, everyone buys new cars on a 3 year finance cycle now, not to keep it for 10 or 15 years like they used to, and manufacturers are well aware of this. I will not explain it any further.
@@h5skb4ru41Not many people can burn 500 on a weekend. And also it's not sustainable to do for "everyone" unless we have 3D printing technology that can put some of the material back. Also lose the attitude.
@@neo-babylon7872by the end of this race, to “put some of the material back” you would need to print a whole new car! Even if that is ever possible, just fixing up an old one will always be cheaper and easier.
