I was wondering on why does Kreia hate aliens. I just now realised! She doesn't as much hate aliens in general as she does hate Bao Dur and she uses the word alien to hurt him specifically. She views him as inhuman for causing so much pain and suffering. She was at Malachor after all. This almost makes sense if you think about it. Zabraks are known for their insane resistance to pain and torture.
@Echani3007
@Echani3007 Год назад
Was she really at Malachor though? And why doesn’t Kreia view the Exile in contempt for what they’ve done either? Bias perhaps.
@liaml.e.5964
@liaml.e.5964 Год назад
@@Echani3007 Yup, when she confronts the Masters, Veook said something along the lines of "I thought you had died at Malachor." To which she responded in her characteristic Nietzschean way: "Die? No. Became stronger? Yes!"
@Echani3007
@Echani3007 Год назад
@@liaml.e.5964 Right, but I still don’t understand why Kreia would see Bao Dur in such a way because of Malachor V though. It’s not very consistent with how she communicates to the exile and other characters about Malachor. I know Kreia is already fond of the Exile. But their coping mechanism for Malachor doesn’t beget any war crimes and mass murder they did unless you’re a die hard exile Stan like Visas. That’s why I don’t really buy this explanation as to why Kreia calls him ‘alien’. Besides she doesn’t explicitly speak about the horrors of Malachor with disgust and regret. Like you showed me via the quote, she does more of the opposite. She even builds a temple there. She’s clearly very fond of Malachor and it’s force wounding. So this begs the question, why does she call Bao Dur that?
@HunterStiles651
@HunterStiles651 Год назад
@@Echani3007 1: Kreia likely sees what took place at Malachor as the ultimate proof that her belief that force-sensitivity is a net negative for the galaxy is correct, which is why she hates it. Because of what took place at Malachor, a wound in the force so extreme that it warps life on a galactic scale was created. 2: She likely resents Bao-dur for what happened at Malachor but not the Exile because she feels the Exile has suffered more than enough for the horrors she unleashed on that planet. Because she cut herself off from the force so completely and utterly, she was nothing more than a shell of a woman being kept alive by sheer desire for self-preservation. She might even have believed she'd be better off if she allowed herself to die like so many others did in that place. 3: I wouldn't look too deeply into Kreia referring to Bao-dur as "alien". She calls everyone in the party except the Exile some demeaning nickname.

Kreia meeting Oppenheimer: "There is a city in east Asia surrounded by massive radiation. Past the graveyards of japanese warships this city suffers, schorched by nuclear fire. To walk upon its surface is to feel radiation ripping every cell of your being. it is like beeing torn alive, until it seems you will never be whole again. What manner of creature would have birthed such a thing? Nothing American, to be sure. If You dare to voice your opinion ever again Hebrew you will forget yourself for a time. "Serve the exile until it is your time to die"... Foreshadowing for Bao-Dur's death on Telos near the end of the game?
@ironinquisitor3656
@ironinquisitor3656 4 года назад
Did it even confirm he died?
@GeriatricFan1963
@GeriatricFan1963 4 года назад
The game doesn't confirm it, but in the restored content mod there is this dialogue exchange during the opening of the Sith siege on citadel station: Grenn: "I thought I saw you disembark with Bao-Dur, is he here?" Atton: "Now that you mention it, where did he run off to? HK-47, also." IIRC if you do all the setup for the HK factory quest and trigger the scene with HK-47 interrogating an HK-50 and discovering that the factory is on Telos, then either right before or right after the Exile's battle with Atris, it switches to HK-47 at the entrance to the HK factory, but Bao-Dur is nowhere to be seen. Chris Avellone apparently said in an interview that Bao-Dur was originally meant to die helping HK-47 reach the factory on Telos. It's disappointing that the game never confirms his fate either way, but there are a lot of hints, especially in the final section of the game on Malachor V when the remote plays back Bao-Dur's recordings, which very much implies that Bao-Dur is dead, since he is not there to start up the Mass Shadow generator again himself, and Remote would have no reason to leave Bao-Dur otherwise.

Yeah, it is just a theory though; Kreia says at the end of the game when asked by the Exile that Bao-Dur and the droids' paths are unknown to her; so that kind of contradicts her knowing Bao-Dur's fate in this scene. More likely "Serve them until it's your time to die" is simply a sign of how little she respects him; to Kreia he is just the alien engineer who built a machine that caused death on an unimaginable scale; after his quest with the Exile is concluded, he has no further utility as far as Kreia is concerned. The game I believe is definitely foreshadowing Bao-Dur's fate, whether Kreia herself is doing it through her dialogue is up to debate; seems unlikely that she would lie to the Exile though, especially as Kreia was dying and there was no more reason to conceal the truth at that point. If Kreia knew Bao-Dur died on Telos, why not tell the Exile the truth?

Nah, you're right on the mark. Kreia does hate non-humans. Comes with her mindset. She's got good points on the Force, and the whole argument against Jedi Vs. Sith, but at the end of the day, she's a hypocrite through and through. This is just the example.

@BroadwayRonMexico

Kreia almost never calls anyone by their name, just referring to them by dismissive descriptions or monikers instead, since she views all of them very poorly besides the Exile. Bao-Dur is "Iridonian" just like Atton is "Fool", and Brianna/Handmaiden is "Servant of Atris". Also, the "nothing human to be sure" seems less about Bao-Dur being Zabrak and more about the fact that he's basically dead inside from the guilt of Malachor and almost has the mindset of a machine as a result. They're pointed words targeting his guilt and insecurity, and she zeroes in on and tries to exploit those in all of her party member interactions.
